Anything going on you'd like to share? Something you've been dealing with lately that has new developments? Some of you may remember a discussion I did, I think a couple of months ago. I mentioned that I was afraid my prescription drug addicted uncle was going to hurt my grandmother who lived next door. Because the police had been called to his house because of him screaming in the middle of the night inside his home(to apparently no one), he started spending the nights at her house. Our entire family wanted him admitted to an institution. (My parents and I live 3 hours away from them.) Good news though. About a week after my discussion, I found out he had gone to his doctor, and a new medication he had been prescribed had interacted with one of his old ones, thus causing the screaming at night, and all these things he didn't remember doing that got the police called to his home. It kind of reminded me of that sleep medication Ambien (although I don't know the name of the medication he was on). Since he was taken off that medication, he has had no more incidents. He is back living in his house next door. We still all want him to be admitted to an institution. Let's just say he's messed up. I couln't even begin to list everything he he's done, although in that previous discussion I think I might have tried. : ) I'm going to see my grandmother tomorrow. She lives 3 hours away, and I'll be staying with her starting tomorrow until Monday. I'm looking forward to being with her, and I want to make it a special time for her too. And this way, I can see first hand how my uncle is acting. But mostly, I just want to spend quality time with my grandmother. I know she still misses my Papaw (passed away this past February). She has the internet, so I'll still be checking in once in a while. Okay, updates on you all. Car fixed? Child making progress? Computer working? Job search going well? Let's hear the updates!

Sorry Ambie, I wish I had an update for you..I did post my second chapter on my writer site, but last time I looked, 5 people viewed it, but no one commented on it.. I'm glad you get to visit your grandmother and hope you have a really good time...Too bad you can't just move her back home with you to ease your worries over your uncle. And sorry to hear about your Papaw, I think in February I was just getting back online and would have missed it if you mentioned his passing. I'm sure you being with your grandmother will bless her..:) Talk to you later tomorrow then..

hi ambiepam Ambien is not good for a lot of people .I took it for four nights and I began to feel really weird and grouchy so searched on line and got the scoop on it f rom webmd.com .it described exactly how I felt and i always have been mentally sound and intelligent so that odd mood upsetter was really scary. So i went to my doctor and he said I told you I do not prescribe sleeping pills just because of the bad side effects of some of them. take benadryl instead as its your allergies that keep you awake. so i did and was back to normal. my renal doctor had prescribed the things and boy did Ihave withdrawals problems but never'again. benadryl has no side effects and did help me sleep too.. my son is stillout of work, and i got socked with a copay of one hundred fifty dollars yesterday on an ambulance trip to the ER a few months back.last year my insurance paid the whole thing but now it has all been changed back to old years.copay of 150 which for me is something I do not have, as Ionly have a little left from my social security and ssi checks once 981 dollars is taken out by the administration for rent and board each and every month. so I will send twenty dollars each month until its paid off.

I once took Ambien, and I ended up driving in the middle of the night. I woke up the next morning and thought I had had a weird dream. I recalled going over curbs, and almost into a ditch trying to pass a tractor. When I went outside that morning, I found one of my headlights hanging out of the front of my car. It hadn't been a dream afterall. I had actually bumped into a stop sign the night before.

Hey Amber! Please be careful and do make sure that you check in regularly so I know that you and Grandma are ok! And if your crazy uncle is out of control, don't hesitate to call 911! Since you don't know what kind of meds he is now on, or how he is reacting make sure you and your Grandma will be safe! I am here if you need me! Take my damn phone number with you! If you don't remember it, send me a private email and I will give it to you again! I mean it! Don't leave home without! You can call me, ring the phone once, scream and I will call the police in your area asap! I'm not playing with you Lil' Sis!

Glad your uncle is better and you're going to get to visit your grandmother. I wish mine were still around... Only thing new here is my mom and my trip to Colorado Springs for a family reunion is coming up soon and we're so looking forward to it. My nephew is going to surprise her and is flying out from NYC to drive with us from Las Cruces, NM, to Colorado Springs. This will be his first family reunion. He'll fly back home from CS, but Mom and I will be heading for Santa Rosa, CA, to celebrate my great nephew's first birthday. So all in all, we'll be spending about 2 weeks on the road...before another 2-week trip in August.

I've been to Colorado Springs twice and it's a beautiful place! I went up Pike's Peak both times. The first time I went, my parents and I rented a car and we saw the Garden Of The Gods. I was with a tour group the second time I went and we didn't see the Garden Of The Gods this time. When your travelling with a tour group, you're so pressed for time.

Yeah, I've been to CS many times. Because there's so much to see and do, that's why we picked CS to have our family reunion. Two years ago, we had it in Deadwood, SD, again, because there's so much to see and do in the Black Hills. Because I'm one of the hosts for the reunion, I'm not sure how much I'll get to see and do, but I'm hoping to get to the Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak and the casinos in the mountains.

I thought Pike's Peak was amazing. We took the train ride up, and my dad got so sick from the change in altitude. But he found some donuts at the shop at the top, and he said eating them made him feel better. I don't know how much of that was just his love of donuts though... I still have a postcard from the time we saw the Garden of the gods. It was incredible.

She's Nana. We pronounced Papaw like pap paw, not paw paw.

My little ones grandparents on my husband's side are Ama (asian-american) and paw paw - texan - born and raised for many many generations - prolly english or german before that. Not sure the origin of pap paw and paw paw. How did you know I was thinking paw paw? My mom is nana...but my little one calls every old person grandma when out and about or grandpa - to their delight usually.

My vacation was wonderful....inspite of my ex being there with his girlfriend....turned out okay. She and I visited alot....even hugged goodbye...When I saw him I was shocked....it's been a while. He looks like a decrepit old man....two hearing aids....losing his hair....not wearing his dentures....not that looks are everything...but he is definately not the man I married. The girlfriend wants to scrap with me now.....her and I got into one tiny little power struggle and I put her in her place..I was making the salads for my grandson's party and she thought I should do them different. I reminded her that it was my daughter house and I was doing it exactly the way my daughter had requested....it was her party...her guests...

I am glad things seem to be a little better with your uncle. Hopefully the next few days you plan on spending with your grandmother will give you a better idea of what is going on there. Me huh? Jeremy just finished his last day of 4th grade and was promoted to 5th grade. He got all A's and B's on his report card all school year for the first year ever. Lily is being her usual punky self. She has really been learning a lot lately though. She can even tell you 5 or 6 states and their capitals. I have recently started looking for a job, but since I have not worked outside the home in so long there are not many people who are interested in hiring me. Summertime is coming and toffee sales really go down this time of year because of the heat and both kids dad's have not been paying child support. Gotta make money some other way. Although I do have a guy who is willing to support me if I agree to date him. We get along fine, but I don't really see him in that way. Car needs new brakes, wiper blades, and an oil change. Plate tags expire at the end of the month too. Not looking forward to paying for all of that.

In your state, do they make you pay each year for an inspection sticker? They did away with that a while ago in Oklahoma. I always thought it was a ridiculous thing to have to pay for.

You have to pay for a safety inspection, emissions test, and then still pay for the sticker for your plate. Oh, and personal property tax on your vehicle each year.

The only new thing in my life is that my GF got a new job that means she doesn't have to work nights. I work days and she now works days, so we have a bigger chance of spending evenings together. So yes, a good development for me.

No interesting updates here I’m afraid...I am nursing a very sore leg at the moment after the doctor drained an infection on my knee yesterday. I walked out of the surgery with the local anaesthetic which wore out by the time I picked up my antibiotic prescription at the pharmacy next door and to say I was in agony is an understatement! I managed to drive myself home in tears. I’ve had a baby and yet I have not ever experienced pain like this! I am doing okay today with painkillers...I wish something more exciting had happened to me this week... I’m glad you are spending some quality time with your grandmother and I do hope your uncle can get further help, at least the screaming has stopped, yet he still has issues though, what a shame, it sounds like it’s hard on all his loved ones not to mention your poor grandmother...

Hi Ambie! Thanks for the update. Several times I have wondered how that situation was, or if it had been resolved. Amazing what can happen when a little pill prescribed with good intentions interacts with other medications...or sometimes it can be a reaction to that one pill. When my mother was alive, more than once her doctor prescribed something that could have interacted with other stuff prescribed by the same doctor. Before picking up new medications at the pharmacy, we always have them check for possible interactions. The software they use does a good job checking for this. I hope your uncle is able to get the help he needs. Some states offer better programs than others, which has always surprised me. You'd think that treatment, at least for those who want help, would be less expensive in the long run, than prosecution. Enjoy your time with your grandmother. We'll be here when ya get back!

I can't really think of any updates except my car does keep breaking down a lot. The last time I had car trouble, the catalytic converter was stopped up. I had to get a new one and it cost me over $300.00 to have it fixed! I'm just glad it wasn't anything worse but I had to get the money out of my paypal account because I didn't have enough money in my checking account. You just don't realize how much you take a car for granted until you have to do without one. I'm so glad to hear that your uncle is doing so much better and that they found out what was causing his problems. I think he still needs to go to an institution, though. I'm sure it's been a nightmare for your grandmother to live with him. I'm also glad to know that you're going to get to stay a few days with her. I just hope you will have a good time and I'm sure she will enjoy your company as well. Please let us know how it goes.

You didn't? I'm glad you didn't have problems with Ambien. I was beginning to think that everyone had bad side effects and that no one cared. I drove in the middle of the night and didn't remember half of it (until I woke up the next morning and found my front headlight hanging out of my car), my dad had vivid nightmares with it, and I found out when my aunt took it, her husband found her in the bathroom cutting all of her hair off. It's good to know it works for people without anything weird happening.

My word! This is awful! I've never heard of anybody having any problems like this with Ambien. It sounds like you must have had a wreck when you took it. I'm glad you weren't hurt or anything. I was seeing a psychiatrist at the time and he prescribed Ambien for me because I was having problems sleeping at night. You can only take it for so long, as I'm sure you already know, and you can't get any refills with it. If you think you need more, you have to get your doctor to call in a new prescription for you.

I forgot to mention that I've taken ambien, myself, and I didn't have any problems with it. I guess some people can't take it, though. I take Tylenol P.M. at night now and that really helps me sleep. It's not addictive and I'm sure you know this, but you can get it over the counter, too.

Good morning....dearest Ambie! Am so thankful that you were able to update us, as so often I have worried about your situation with your Uncle and Grandma! I am very concerned about the way some meds are prescribed..and usually here in B.C (Canada) your profile is in the pharmacies computers and the pharmacists will call the dispensing Dr. if they find a contraindicated meds. Sort of a fail-safe system for dangerous med. combinations! I am pleased you will have some quality time with your grandmother...but please take care of yourself and her! You will be able to assess the situation much better first hand! Updates...for me....some very painful problems, that hopefully soon I will be able to talk about, once I stop crying. I have been here (myLot) very seldom lately, as I just seem to have NO interest in anything...I guess it's because I hate being in my house, (where the memories are)! BIG HUGZ...TAke care!
