Gas prices headed up again.

Yesterday our gas prices jumped 30 cents. That is so uncalled for. The price of oil did not go up that much. What is the reason now? They always seem to find a reason. How is the gas prices where you are?

Here in Australia our petrol prices are around $1.30 per litre and rising all the time. It is getting expensive for most people but by the look of the prices in the U.S. we are doing okay! It is outrageous and I do wonder how most people can afford to fill their vehicles! For a rise to be 30cents it is really bad…When will it stop, I wonder…

How can you say we're doing ok Paula? They use gallons remember and a gallon is equivalent to almost 4 litres. So for the same amount, we would be paying nearly $5.00. They are paying about 68 cents a litre (at $2.60 a gallon) which is what I was paying for fuel in Brisbane in early 2003!

OMG! This is my ignorance well and truly coming through! I am so embarrassed, I don't know where I put brain was that day! I was thinking litres and not gallons and I have no idea how I could write such a stupid comment, I apologise for my ignorance and I am so glad you set me straight, I feel like an idiot...And no, we are NOT doing well at all!

Ours have been dropping but I also having been out in the past two days so I can't say if they're going back up or not. I can't see any reason at all for such a huge jump in gas prices! It's not like the big oil companies are hurting for money, except maybe BP. Of course, they're all about profits so I believe they'll use any excuse to raise prices. I'm going to have to check out our prices around here now. It's just been way too hot to go out so I've avoided it as much as possible. I'll ask my husband but I doubt ours have jumped like that. He would have been complaining about it if ours have jumped 30 cents a gallon here because he drives about 60 miles to work.

That is really weird, since I heard on the news that gas prices are suppose to be going down because of the events going on in Europe. Honestly, I haven't seen it happen here except for the gas stations that normally has theirs higher than everyone else. They have finally lowered theirs to match everyone else. I have seen some though that has gas at 2.85, I don't know why a person would pay that, when it's 2.55 right across the street from it. I know that the price of gas is high in Washington St. Our average is around 2.55. Is it every single station that raised their prices? I know a lot of the BP stations are being boycotted or even vandalized. I also think the owners of these stations jack up the prices, especially in the smaller cities where people have no choice but to stop there. I think that's a sad shame in my opinion.

Yesterday all of ours raised. It started with SuperAmerica/Speedway and the rest followed. We were at $2.33 and it jumped to $2.65 everywhere here in our town. I am in Ohio. It seems they do the opposite of what the news tells you. I have noticed when they say the prices are going to increase, the next day they go down. It makes absolutely no sense.

Weird, I just checked gasbuddy.com and there are a few areas that still has cheap gas. Another weird thing, it did say that the gas prices in Ohio is going up. I think gas prices should be low everywhere, I think if they did that, more people would travel this summer. Instead of staying close to home because they can't afford to. I miss the days when I lived on a Naval base and they would have dollar days at the gas station every so often. I was able to fill up the car and get gas to mow the lawn. The good ole days.

Here is Savannah the lowest price today is $2.39, average $2.54 and highest $2.69. The lowest price is at a local Kroger Gas Station and I get an extra .15 cents a gallon off with my Kroger card.....$2.24 which is pretty good.

WoW! That's outrageous. If that happened here in Aust, the prices would be frozen and an enquiry under way. Ours has gone up about 4 cents, but I think it went up a few weeks ago. You don't think the oil spill in the Gulf might have something to do with it?? How many barrels a minute is it pumping out??

I honestly think that they just do whatever they want. They say that the spill has nothing to do with it but who knows. They are losing lots of barrels per minute, I heard once but not sure what they said.

hi I am here in the U SA and in California. here according to my friend Nelda who does drive, i don't, they claim that oil spill off Florida is the cause for the rising gas prices here but I think its more of the same greed thats making prices on everything go up here all except wages which are now frozen in some companies, and laying off more than hiring. damnable greedy people.

I agree - they always seem to find a reason to raise the gas prices. Our gas in Oklahoma yesterday was $2.45 to $2.55 a gallon. The price often changes on Thursday or Friday from what I've noticed. It may have gone up today?

Supply and demand, the summer demand goes up and they supply is down, happens every year at this time. However our prices have actually dropped about 10 cents over the past week. I paid yesterday $2.79 a gallon, which to me was pretty good as I have been paying $2.89 to $2.99 for awhile, was a nice surprise to pay less. Here in CA we typically have some of the highest gas prices in the country. I still think it's ridiculous when at the end of the quarter the oil companies will report millions of dollars in profits. I'm all for companies making profits but not to the point of bankrupting us, gas goes up and everything goes up.

i'd have to ask my bro,but i think they went up a bit-mainly due to memorial day weekend greed.

Yesterday I saw gas lines for the first time since the early 70's! One station was $2.39 and at the other end of the small town it was $2.65. Guess which one had the line? I passed through another small town that had the same thing going on. At one station the line was blocking the road on the side the station was on. Insanity! I have no idea why the prices went up but they don't really need a reason. When you are selling something that nearly everyone needs you don't have to cater to anyone and can charge what you like.

hmmm.. 30 cents in a day seems like an awful lot. I didn't notice, but then my husband put gas in my van yesterday when I was at work so I'm not sure what he paid. I thought it had just gone down a few cents last week though. Maybe the excuse is summer travelers??? Heck, at the rate of the oil spill, we can just go get our oil from the ocean soon... *snort of disgust*

Well I didn't even notice that yet here since the last time I got gas was Monday and it was average for around here. I'll probably get gas in a couple of days so I'll have to take notice. The prices always jack up for the summer unfortunately.
