Do you value your reputation?

Among all my foreign friends, they seemed to say that most Filipinos are so particular of this reputation issue, but most are in a poverty mentality. But I have met most Filipinos who seem not to value their reputation anymore just to get that richness they've ever wanted or anything their "id" would like to desire. Do most people no longer value reputation? I do and I make sure I still sound credible to them. I also make sure I role model to my younger generation. I believe it is an individual's obligation in the society.

I value my reputation, but not to the extent that I will live for that. Reputation is only how others think about you, how they perceive you and how they heard about you. If we are going to always think of what other people will say your just like a puppet always conforming to what they will like and not like.. The only person that knows you a lot better is you... and your family... That is the most important thing, and after that what people will say doesnt matter.. In your say about people abandoning it because of richness and money..there are a lot of things happening to poor people that we don't know, we dont know the road they traveled before finally deciding to give up reputation or I should rather say "dignity" just to survive.. They have their own "reason" and bless those that have good and justified ones. They seem to have no options at all, or though a lot of people will say there's a lot of options out there, we still are not in the right position to judge them... maybe lets just pray they get to change for the better in the future.

I still value reputation, it's important to have a good reputation since it earns other people's trust and respect. I do know I can't please every one and there are really those people who would still say and do unpleasant things against me. However, those kind of people doesn't really deserve my attention unless they cross the boundaries...;)

I think every society has people who will value reputation over money and people who value money over reputation. Here in India, there are a quite a few people who are known to do anything for money. Similarly there are quite a few set of people who take their reputations very seriously. I think more than reputations or money, it is more a question of your values and sticking to those values irrespective of reputation and money. I think if you hold onto your values and if they are good values, both reputation and money will follow. Cheers! Ram

There so much detail when it comes to keeping the reputation and good name. In todays world when there is hunger all around, people are jobless, there is inflation, things are getting expensive, there is food shortage, medicine are expensive, poor people are getting poorer and for riches there is every facility, so in such conditions you cannot expect all the people to be into their reputation. We are humans, and when it comes to hunger, we cannot hold it for longer. So surely people start doing stuff not respectable.

Hi hushi22. Of course I do value my reputation a lot, not just for myself but for my family as well because anything negative about me can also affect them.

Many people prefer Money to Reputation, but don't care, When we read more book, get more money, we would give it a higher position.

I do value my reputation. I have worked hard to build a good reputation in more than one area of my life, and I am not about to let anyone ruin it for me....

Yeah, as far as I am concerned, I think I value my reputation so much in my daily life. I usually try my best to be a honest person in my daily life. So if I have promised others to do something, I will usually try my best to do it as good as possible. I just to respect my reputaion, in that case others can respect my reputation so much.

I personally avlue my reputation,,,but only to a certain extent. It's not like Id sacrifice everything in myl;ike to keep my rep, but I defiantly work hard to keep it clean and true. When I say I'm going to do soemthing I try to stick as true as I can. I dont make promises I cant keep. And I think this is part of my rep. I've had the bad rep of being easy (even though I wasnt, I came off as it), and dumb (bc I didnt want people to know how samrt I really was) and as a driggie (this one is kind of true, :S). No one wants these reps and I decided I was going to change it. I think I've finalyl gotten rid of my bad rep (excpet in my parents eyes) and now I plan and keeping ym good rep. My current rep involes being charity and true to my word and loyal and a good friend overall. I come off as a leader but as someone whos not bossy and will do the work and responsibilities handed to her. I like my current rep and I will do ALMOST anything to keep it that way as long as it still falls in my morlas and beleifs because rigth now Im just trying to make it the real me and not worry as muich what people think. If my rep is true to me then I dontcare , too much, whast opthers think my rep is and what kind of a person I really am.

Yes, I still value my reputation. My career depends on it. And, even if it did not, I wouldn't want my reputation to be ruined especially for money. I think that we should also aim for self-respect, in addition to other people respecting us, because there are also other people who value the opinion of others so much to their own destruction because they live to please other people.

Reputation is pure opinion and opinion only. Some think I'm the greatest. Some would say I'm the worst thing that ever lived. I don't care. If people have so little to do other than to talk bad about others, who has the problem? Let em walk.
