Hi, What topics do you like to write about and how do you come up with your ideas? I need to write some articles to apply for some of the writing sites and am having a hard time deciding what range of topics to write about. My major is biology, but will a lot of people be interested to read articles in that field? That is one of the things I am wondering. What types of things do you like to read?

My favorite topic to read these days are Science Fiction and Fantasy fiction. I like them because they look at things in a manner not restricted to the current realities and limitations. When it comes to writing articles, I do it on a variety of topics from Management to Career Counseling to Book and movie reviews. You can check out some of the stuff from my blog site: ramadvice.wordpress.com. Cheers! Ram

Hi Ram_cv, I have never got into reading science fiction and fantasy fiction. Although I have thought about it and will do so when I have more time. I did enjoy the newer Startrek series and the Harry Potter books. You do have quite a variety of things you write about don't you? I'll take a look at your blog site. I would be challenged to keep up with a blog, but it's another thing I'm thinking of doing in the near future.

If you have time and patience then I would recommend reading Sir Isaac Asimov's novels especially the Robot series and the Foundation series. They are the top of the tops of the science fiction genre!! Cheers! Ram

Thanks for the advice on what is good to start reading in the science fiction genre! I appreciate the recommendation. Do you know what might be good to start reading in the fantasy fiction genre?

I haven't written any articles but I love to read articles about crafts. How crafters make them, how they sell them and where. Some crafters have the best imagination. I also like to read about the best ways to earn online. I've done a few things but again, never written any articles on the subject. I could read an article about biology as long as it wasn't a very long article that discussed details I didn't understand. An informative article would be interesting. Good luck, carolbee

Hi Carolbee, I love crafts also. Over the years I have done knitting, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, beading and others. Articles about crafts are some of my favorites too. The biology I'm thinking of are common animals or insects around us every day or maybe plants too. I'll have to think about exactly what I'd write. I would have to do a lot of research for those, I imagine.

I write and read on Triond and find that articles that have to do with health and medicine are the most read articles. Really, anything that will help people with their lives (self-help, so to speak). I myself am very dry right now. Can't come up with an article idea at all. I'm very frustrated. I've started stuff and then half way through or near the end realized, no this isn't going to fly. You have some knowledge inside that brain of yours. You should be able to come up with lots of articles. Good luck.

Hi Patgalca, How do you like Triond? I'm trying to come up with some good writing sites and find out how each one works. There are a lot of them. I will have to try to think of a good health or medicine article. You're right. I should be able to come up with something. People need all the help with things that they can get right now, that's for sure. I'll just have to dust off my thinking cap and put it on : ) Don't you give up either. Keep in there thinking and writing. You can do it!

I love to read about extraordianry and weird stuff. Just today I came across an article about how the sun might explode and the impact on earth. This is the sort of things I love to read. I also like to read about writing better articles and tips to earn more from article writing. I mostly get ideas for articles from what I've read online as well as offline. I think if you feel strongly about certain issues, you can write an article about it.

Hi UmiNoor, I like to read about weird stuff too. Articles about outer space and the planets are often very interesting. I used to work for NASA, so I've always had an interest in space. I think it is always easier to study about or write about things you like or have an interest in. When I was in college I really fond that to be true.

If you are planning for a blogging post. A lot of topics that you can post about. It actually dont depends on what course or majoy you are. But it would matter on how you could deliver the words and attract readers. For me I would write articles about love, of course I gained it thru my experience in love.

Yes you need to be good on what you are writing. According to them once you write, you could be an expert in that field or you are just telling a report. That's what they say.

Hi AdaMay, Right now I'm trying to start writing articles to bring in some extra $. The reason I mentioned my major is because they say to write about "what you know." Love is a wonderful topic but difficult to write about I think. That is, unless you want to write romantic novels.

I like to read articles about medicine and biology! I also like to read the strange, obscure news articles. I write mainly about music and medicine. But I can write about anything as long as I do my research.

Hi Thumb86, Yes, I know what you mean that you can write about anything if you do research on it. I am finding this to be true. I think many of my articles will be about some form of biology or some other science.

Well, I think what is important for you is to concentrate on your field. It would be easier for you to relate on matters that you have knowledge about. Perhaps also consider your hobbies. Eventually, you will gain followers most especially if your articles are helpful and informative. You may writing on something that popular which you have no knowledge about, in the end, you will certainly not gain any considering that you have no idea about it. So it is best to write something that you can provide good input and knowledge.

Hi jpso, Yes, they say write about what you know. I have had a lot of experiences in my life besides getting my degree in biology, so I'm going to have to call on some of them as well, I think. Hobbies are something a lot of people like reading about. They like to find out new ways of doing things and the latest techniques. Thank you for your thoughtful comments and suggestions!

Why not try a mystery with a biology tie-in? Write what you know and find out about the rest, so you can write about whatever you want. I write about my family, pets, love of writing, love stories, horror stories, children's books, etc. Each is a challenge and great fun. Best thing to do is sit down, just start writing whatever comes to mind. Don't try to make sense of it at first. Just write. Later, go back, read it over. I do this and am surprised at how many story lines jump out at me. Good luck!

That's an intriguing idea, Maggie. When writing fiction I usually have trouble figuring out the ending. lol Maybe I should just start writing and let the characters in the story figure it out for me. : ) Sounds like you have a good balance of several subject areas. Thanks for all your ideas. I certainly have my "thinking cap" on now.

Sports is my favorite topic. I love to take part in the discussions on this. And the second one is about technologies. I love different gadgets and so on. After that different activities which are happening in and around our world and also the wonders in the sky and universe.

Hi Rafaelnadal, Yes, I know sports is a BIG favorite for a lot of people. Trouble is I know VERY little about it. Never was a big sports fan. I like the Boston Red Sox, professional ice skating, and I like watching the olympics. Technologies is another good one, but again I don't know that much about them. I like them, though : ) I guess that's a start. I used to work for NASA (yes, as in the astronauts), so I'm interested in outerspace. That would take a LOT of research, but maybe I'll give something in that subject a try sometime. Thanks very much for your ideas!

Yes, I think you are right, Hushi, from what I have heard. People are interested in self-help topics quite a bit. I'll have to think about what area I might have some knowledge in the health field. Thanks for your comment.

Religion is a very popular topic. When I was selling books at a farmer's market religion books were among the best sellers. It is a very intriguing subject, I agree.

In my opinion I think that the only people that will be interested in reading about biology will be people who are like you with majors in biology or plan to major in biology. I think that you should write articles about something that will catch someones eyes. Like something that is going on in the world at the time. Or something else that seems interesting. Such as movies or music. Good traveling sites, and such. You could look all over the internet and find a topic that interests you to write about. There are so many good things out there that lots of people would love to read. You just have to look in the right places.

Hi Spazz, Thanks for your suggestions. I think I'm going to have to feel my way around for a while and get into the groove of this "writing thing." Going to have to find my way around and learn the best places for me to find my ideas. It will be a challenge, but I'm determined. Thanks for your thoughts.

I like reading and writing anything about biology. I think animals, humans, plants and anything about this field is really interesting. I also like psychology because I find human behavior very unique. It also makes me understand people better. :)

My minor in college was biobehavioral sciences, which is anthropology, psychology and biology. So I have taken several courses in each one. Psychology does allow you to understand people better and sometimes animals also!

I like reading and writing anything about biology. I think studying living creatures are very interesting. I also like topics on psychology. I find human behavior very unique. However, i graduated in the field of nursing. I just really think that it is a combination of the fields that I like plus the concepts in medicine are really good too.

Yes, biology certainly is an interesting subject. That is why I chose it for my degree. I think most people are interested in some type of biology subjects. For some it might be physiology, for another plants or flowers and for another exotic animals. I had a marvelous biology teacher when I was a freshman in high school. I think that is where my love of the subject truly began. I have ALWAYS loved animals, though.

I like to read about religious topics, about some rituals, religious praxes and mystical experiences. Psychology is exciting, too. Also I like to read about tips and tricks how to make some money, but I think that I like them only because I need that, not because I like that. As I read lot of books I like to read fiction works and poetry, too. My favorite topic are war and concentration camp experiences. Love topic also is interesting, but this topic I like better to live in my own life.

Hi Bubulizzz, Religion is a very popular topic I know. We sold books at a farmer's market a couple of years ago and religious books were some of the best sellers. Everyone is interested in how to save and make more money these days. If I could come up with some articles on that it would be a plus. You have some very interesting topics that you like! I'm going to have a tough time deciding what to write on for my first few articles. But I'm hoping it will get easier after that.

Well I don't really write articles. I could never get into that type of thing. My favorite genre to read and write is fantasy. Most of my ideas come to me at night while I'm dreaming or while I'm running around the Renaissance Faire in a pretty dress. When I read articles I like to read about books, stats of reading, mythology, and dream science. I think dream science is a subject of some interest for lots of people so you might try looking into that.

I write a bit online and I feel that the best topics to write about is usually anything related to self help (no matter if it is regarding your health, your looks or anything else), finance and making money online of course. So if you have any knowledge in any of those topics, I would go for that!
