War.

I want to remind you a famous line which goes as follows: ’war does not determine who is right, only who is left’. But still now mankind is involved in wars. Do you believe a day will come when mankind will realize the inner meaning of the line I have mentioned above?

No. To get rid of war you have to eliminate a basic human trait--greed. Greed for money, goods, power, love, adoration, resources...greed is responsible for all wars if you think about it. I doubt if we will be rid of it anytime soon.

Jealousy is a cause for war also. People in poorer countries eg Afghanistan and Iran etc are jealous of our way of life so they have the potential to attack us unfortunately.

Jealousy is a form of greed. We are jealous of our neighbor because of his new boat--which we think we should have, too! Poorer countries might be jealous of those who have a better way of life but greed dictates declaring war instead of doing the hard work of education and building business and sacrifice. You are jealous of a friend because they have attracted someone you think is great but you actually want that person yourself. You see, jealousy is also greed though at a lesser intensity.

hi don't jealousy and greed also come from selfishness in people as if we cared at all our friends and family and others would we be less apt to start and indulge in long drawn out wars?just thinking here. hatley.

As long as there is evil in this world there will be war. Man can not eradicate evil, only God can. And one day He will. One day, when Jesus returns....and He will, He will eliminate evil forever. Until then, war will just be a fact of life.

But would you kindly clarify whether the war is against the evil or for the evil?

The wars we have in the world today are for the evil....or because of it. But when Jesus Christ returns He will defeat that evil. I suppose you could say that He will wage war against that evil but I wonder if it will be a long drawn out war like we are familiar with. Jesus is all-powerful because He is the Son of God...He is God. He has the power to eliminate all evil in the blink of an eye. How He will eliminate that evil is something I can't explain nor can anyone explain.

I don't think the day will come when there won't be a war. We know that that quote is true and perhaps that is why we have a UN and governments to try to avoid conflict without resolving it with a war. I think war is pointless. No one is right when it comes to war. Say if someone blows up your country then going over there to blow them up doesn't make us any better then them. Humans have it in their nature to fight to some extent. Most of us choose not to fight. That is what separates us from other living species. I have not heard of that saying before but it is a good one and I agree with the saying or quote.

I always try to look at the human condition as a growth toward peace, but war is hard to justify. One could say that a great many good things come out of war, new inventions, leaps forward in health care, and other great advances in the human race. But to my mind we can no way justify the costs. Is man really better off with these advancments? There is always the general rule that what you sow so shell you reap, this puts us in a constant circle where war and non war repeat over and over. I feel if man cannot escape this cycle we will surly wipe ourselves out of existance.

I think, dear, that mankind has already realized this line. When we look at the reasons why there's war it is not about who is right but who must take the power or who should take over what. The battle has nothing to do between good and evil but has evolve into who is superior and who isn't. War has served as a way to get to our selfish goals. Sadly, lives are at stake.

Like as the saying goes the strong shall live and the weak shall die. Survival of the fittest is what the war will determine but the problem will never be identified

Hi DoctorDidi, I'm hopeful that such a time will come. If it doesn't we will see civilization, as we know it wiped out completely, possible the destruction of the human race altogether. We have but two choices and we may have to decide very soon. Blessings.

If they haven't figured it out in the thousands of years they have been doing it I really doubt that they are ever going to get it. And I firmly believe that if we didn't have extreme weather, terrorists, war, and other ugliness in the world we might not appreciate the good as much.

I really doubt it. There is just so many people, so many differing views, so much pride and so much greed. I, myself, am a pacifist. Here are some more great anti-war quotes that you might like. "If war is the answer, then we are asking the wrong question." I don't know who first said it. "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." -Mahatma Gandhi

First I would like to start by saying how much I admire the effort and topic that you have chosen to write about. I think that this is a great question, for me though, the answer is very simple. I would have to say that I don't think that there will ever be a time in which people do not engage in war. That is not to say that I wouldn't be one of the first to support that time. However the fact is, that it is in our nature to fight. It is in our nature to compete, which means that in most minds, the person with the most power is the best. It is unfortunate that people do not see that war helps no one. I also know that there are people who would argue that war helps the country and all that, I ask: "How can something that kills people, help anyone?" There is no way to make the world a better place with war, some say that they are fighting for rights, and while I can understand how they can think that they are, they are in fact just supporting war and the thought that they should be the most powerful. I think that the only way to stop war, would be to destroy mankind, as sad as that sounds. We just can't seem to get along with each other.

I actually don't think that there will be a time that war will come to an end in this world. The reason that I think that is the case is because of the fact that there are too many different sets of beliefs in the world and there are some people that haven't been able to figure out that we are all able to live together despite the differences in our beliefs. Until everyone learns that there is no harm in having different beliefs, there will still be wars in this world.

I really wish that war wasn't a part of our culture, and that people could understand your quote (nicely chosen btw), but i fear this veiw is naive. War has become a necessary part of life. In the past, war has been used to shape the world we live in. For example, America would not exist without the war of independence. The world would be a very different place without WW1 and WW2. Nowadays, war has become a tactic to display world power. We live in a world of every man for himself, so wars will continue to be waged over dwindling resources. Even differing politics have caused nations to clash. It would be great to be able to quote a great man and the whole world be able to say: War Is Over. But, i doubt that day will come in our lifetime.

Though what you have said appears to be a joke there is inner meaning in these lines. In wars many people die and what ultimately matters is those who survive.Though there is truth in these two lines the people in power are crazy about war to extablish their superiority. They are not bothered because they do not actually fight and those fight are those poor who join army for livelyhood. What these lines may be true inealier wars but under the present scenario with the threat of nuclear weapons there will not any one to enjoy the fruits of success in war.. HAPPY NEW YEAR

hi doctordidi you ask good questions but hard to answer as we are'bib of us physic. but as long as we let greed rule and religion divide we will have wars . If greed and jealousy and religious fanaticism were to be erased in mankind then we would live in peace. I am a Christian but some religions depend on killing all who do not believe as they do and that is fanaticism for sure.I would like to believe a day will come when we will all live in peace like we mostly do here on mylot.

I personally do not feel that such a day will ever come when there would be no war as everybody would understand the consequences of war. I do not want to portray a gloomy picture of the future of humankind. I do not mean that the situation will remain unchanged or get worse, but war will remain there so long as human race survives on earth. However, it may improve with more and more people realizing the ill effects of war and that nothing great has ever been achieved through war. It is the absence of war that gives rise to new creations. Hoping peace both within and without us

I do not think so as greed, fame, corruption and etc are part of human nature and mankind will strive for selfishness untill the end of the world.
