Looks like we have a brand new "F Bomb" out there. No, not the one that liberalism have been fighting for the right to use at will for decades now... I mean the one that liberalism has decided is far worse that the traditional F Bomb. "The little fa66ot with the earring and the make up, yeah buddy, that's his own hair. The little fa66ot got his own jet airplane, the little fa66ot is a millionaire." One Canadian complained to the government of Canada about these lyrics... One person in the 25 years of regular airplay. I wonder if Elton John was offended by these lyrics when he sang them with Dire Straits back in 1990? It was even speculated at one time that Elton John was the one Dire Straits was referencing here... although I don't think so because Elton hasn't had much hair to sing about since they early 70s. Either way, if it's good enough for one of the first gay celebrities to "come out", why isn't it good enough for the entire nation of Canada?

I am Canadian and I really loved the Dire Straits. So one person of that lifestyle complains and now the government of Canada obeys him? I guess they do not listen to us Christians. That song was about the music industry and how people think they are not doing any work when they really are and you should have seen their video. It was not about homosexuality and I do not think Elton Jphn was embarrassed about their words since he is really glad he is one. But it is ridiculous that a country, mine, that decides that a lifestyle of homosexuality must be protected at all costs, and prosecutes those who disagree with it like the marriage commissioners in Saskatoon, decides that a song where the singers t sing about one of the homosexuals making it big time be banned from the airways. I guess it was not politically correct enough for them. I got a gift card and was going to get a DVD of the last LOSt season, but on the other hand, i might -----

I was reading our main newspaper, and there were quite a few letters to the editor of those who think this is ridiculous. Unfortunately it might be that if I am going to get a Dire Straits cd, I might have to order from the States. And with the extra time for shipping, it might be at least a month. The trouble is that pretty soon we will have to listen to old great grandma or little tot music. Oh Canada the land of the free where one homosexual can complain and say "jump!" and the CRTCt asks how high? and yet anyone else has to get at least 1000 people to get something really offensive off and yet nothing is done.

So will Eminem get banned too he has tons of song using that F Bomb as you put it. I mean he even references Elton on his newest album. This is Statism at its best I mean censorship is the worst thing ever to happen to any music or art form. I think people need to realize Art is the way we can get the truth out there not to mention get a message or our anger out there without having to hurt a single person if it is anger or cry a tear. It is the greatest tool anyone has to express themselves shame on Canada and any country that promotes censorship.

You know what I do when a song comes on the radio that I don't like or find offensive? I CHANGE THE STATION!!! When did we all become so afraid of offending anyone that we let one guy with hurt feelings dictate the musical freedoms of an entire nation?

My understanding is Elton John loves the song. More proof the left isn't liberal at all.

I'm against banning words, mostly because they can show you how ignorant, intelligent or just plain stupid a person is. That word was accepting in the 70's and gay people still use it amongst themselves much like black people us the N word. But both are forbidden in general society. How are we to teach our children about humanity if we erase all traces of prejudice from books, education and society? So now we censor music? How about the rappers that scream about beating up their "ho's" and raping women, shooting cops and beating people up? That's acceptable but a 70's slang term isn't? Something is very wrong here.

Good points, Dragon. I've raised my 4 girls to be kind, thoughtful, respectful and non-judgmental people. I think they have learned as much from the negative examples of how not to be as they have from the positive ones.

I think it's funny that they are all up in arms about the "F bomb" but seem to have no problem with the line, "Get your chicks for free". Also, look at the meaning of the song itself. Basically it's a bunch of rich musicians making fun of blue collar workers. lol

Ted, I thought of the same thing after I'd pushed the "submit" button! I love the song, btw. It's fun, silly and irreverent. Just what good rock music should be!

It's kind of like the N-word. You have to wonder who it is that is actually truly offended by it. I have never heard even one gay person complain about those lyrics. They point out the rock stars in that same song don't they? And that would be themselves, right? It's been a while since I've really listened to that song but I don't recall ever thinking it was offensive towards anyone even the "fa66ots". If anything, I guess I took it as they were defending them against the ones that called them that...after all...he was a millionaire. What is really pathetic that thousands can raise their voices for a cause to the government and no one listens but one little Canadian gets offended by a word in an old song and the government reacts? Weird!
