I have been watching the progress of the budget all day. I am so aggravated. If the Dems would have done their job we would not be in the mess we are in today. Also I can not believe it is abortions that are holding up the budget as well as clean air. The abortion thing really gets to me. I hope they come to a decision soon as I worry about military families. If there is a shut down no congress or senate should receive a paycheck nor the president as he has no backbone. I am so aggravated. Look at how this country is being run by a bunch of special interest money grubber idiots,

From the sound of it it seems like many of you really don't understand what this is about. Yes the final decision does ride on Planned ParentHood. Which is really sad. Planned ParentHood provrides many resources many people women would have to go without such as papsmears and std testing at greatly reduced rates. They are deciding how far Roe v Wade will go in the future. Think about it abortion is one of the biggest topics and that is what they are debating now. Someone wants to limit the resources poor women have in keeping thmeselves healthy and not having children they can not support. A budget should not center around a womans choice to keep herself and her unborn child healthy and this is what it is. (for the record i do not personally sponsor abortion. however i have never been put in a position in which that decision is necessary. take remarks with a grain of salt)

Planned Parenthood offers two services. Information which ANY and ALL agencies governmental and private entities provide and abortion advice. You can get the same exact advice from a Medicaid office where a teenager would have to go anyway to get food stamps, WIC, TANF, etc. For EVERYTHING else, that includes mammograms, UTI prescriptions, doctor's visits, cancer screening, etc. Planned Parenthood does not do. You can get information but you can't get the service. Instead the teenager is redirected to a clinic that takes Medicaid. Which BTW Medicaid provides a complete listing of. Your right, government should not make the woman's choice which is why all abortions performed come from PRIVATE funding and not the government. Planned Parenthood would survive just fine on donations. Let the people who want to support it, support it. Keep taxpayer dollars out. You really should look into what Planned Parenthood actually does rather than go with the perception that is being touted by politicians who don't know the real facts either.

And I am sick of hearing about planned parent hood and if it doesn't get what it wants, women won't be able to get mamograms and will get cancer etc. I went to planned parent hood to see about getting a mamo when I didn't have insurance as I couldn't afford it as I was not much higher than minimum wage. They told me I had to show them bank statments to see if I "qualify" for the help. Becaue i worked and was over mini wage, I didn't qualify. My insurace when I had it didn't cover any screening like this. You paid for it from your pocket...if all was fine, insurance didn't touch it. The insurance only would cover part of it (after deductible which was just under what the mamo was, and then 80/20) and they'd only pay their portion if something was found wrong. Then they'd pay! So I don't want to hear a word from anyone about how planned parent hood is so important when it comes to cancer screenings and mamos and athe like.

I think every place is now being hit with a healthy dose of reality. Hopefully they will take it to heart.

Hello terry and welcome to myLot. I to have been watching the play about the budget. I believe that Obama and Ried are trying for a governmemt shut down and I really hope John Boehner doesn't back down. If he does it will make any cuts for 2012 harder if not impossible. By the way he says he will return his pay back and he encourages his constituents to do the same. Michele Bachmann said that she will. I think that Obama really doesn't like America.

I just heard harry Ried say that he wouldn't give up his wife's, daughter's and granddaughter's health by not funding Planned Parent Hood. Now I want to know why his women have to use planned parent hood for their health.

The crisis is over and the Republicans caved. The only hope is that the House will vote against the Leadership and force them to stand up for the principals that got them the control of the House.

I"m with you. But then I hear that Obama BORROWED $2 billion dollar from CHINA and GAVE it to Brazil to help them drill for oil down there!!!! Wait....if we borrowed that much, why didn't he put it into drilling in the US...PLUS...I thought he was allfor "alternative energys" and telling people with SUV's that they deserve the high gas prices cause they won't get a hybrid car that isn't even hardly available yet! Talk about being aggrivated!!! Does he have a hidden agenda or what!?!?!?!?!?

So, actually, what would happen if the government is going to shut down? Would it mean that we are entering into an anarchy era or something? Or because our tax money no longer be able to afford the operation of our central government and local government? From what I see, our tax money feeding a bunch of sleazy bag.

Nancy Pelosi clearly failed. It was her responsibility. That being said, it is time to contact your Representatives (House and Senate).

i think we all have to understand that it cannot be abortions which are holding up budget agreement. federal funding of abortions has been illegal for years, i believe it is the Hyde Ammendment to some law or other. in any case, the gop reps know that's the case, but typically won't give the correct the information to their constituents. neither party is particularly concerned about the damage the shutdown will do to millions in this country. they're getting paid as will their staffs because the staff people have been identified, by them, as essential. it's our fault. we elected these idiots. we deserve it.

What ever they decide I fail to see how they can continue to spend money that is not there. We didn't get in this mess overnight and it's not going to be a quick fix. Shut down or not I don't believe the military families will be affected. The President said certain things would not be interrupted. I would think this to be one of them.
