last night after I've taken my night pills.
"Hey I found a kitten who needs help fast and there is no one in an office tonight can you help him"
So what if it is almost 10 at night, we call her and jump in the car and drive 30 minutes to pick up the kitten.
They had already given her (yes, its a her not a him) one bath, but we take her into the roomie's folks house and give her another.
Got kind of a scare when she went all limp like she was dead, but she was just so scared and not happy being wet...
After waiting a bit to see if they can catch the sibling they saw, we gave up and came home.
Now, I'm staggering, but we get home, I treat her with flea medicine (2 drops and the rest on one of the big cats) and treat her eyes with eye meds and put food, water and litter down for her, then I collapse into bed.
When I get up she doesn't seemed to have moved, but when I left the light on, she went over to this giant bowl (smallest cat bowl we have) and climbed in to eat - I moved the food to a saucer and put some water in another one.
I took her to work so I could leave work and take the baby to the vets.
I said I didn't want to worm her because I wasn't sure how much she weighed, they put her on their scale and said "half a pound" but she's too alert, eyes (once they were de-crusted) too open, ears too open, to be 2 weeks old, they think she's more like 3, just seriously underweight.
So, I come home, treat her with worm meds, set her up with food and kitten milk go back to work.
An hour later they called to tell us she was FeLuk/FIV negative.
We're calling her Kismet, because she's one LUCKY kitten!
Check out her pix and let me know what color you think she's going to be?

What a sweetheart!! And how wonderful for you to take her in and care for her!
My son has 2 new cats, both black. Someone left them in a box on a hot street corner and they were nearly unconscious from the heat when he found them as he was walking by. He already has two dogs, one cat, three ball pythons, a rabbit and a bird that were all thrown away by people who were tired of them or just too cruel to bother finding them homes. I'm proud of him. People like you and my son are a godsend to mistreated and unwanted animals--these pets/animals are gifts from God and should be treated as such.

My other son just sent me a picture of one of the kittens, I thought you'd like to see one of these adorable kittens that some jerk threw away like so much garbage. They are thriving now!

you're a life saviour to these cats
one day when I am independent financially
I will start rescuing animals
it's always a great joy for me to be around animals,
even just to see them

If I had to wait for financial independence, I'd never rescue any animals! lol...I live on a disability stipend but still find a way to rescue and find homes for cats. It's not that hard or expensive.
Where there's a will, there's a way.

She's certainly one lucky kitty being in your experienced hands. I dunno what color she's going to be, I'd say maybe white and gold calico or maybe a Siamese.

Speaking of Torti's. My eldest declared she wanted another cat (we already have 3, siblings of diff litters). Hubby declined her request. And of course informed me cause I would love a torti that because of the coloring I'd have to pay a mint! *LOL* I don't think so... it's just an ordinary cat. I'm sure you'd agree he was wrong right?

Oh my she is so cute! She look white but then being wet she could be blonde. lol, she is as cute as a button and the name is perfect for. Indeed a very lucky kitty.
It is wonderful of you to have gone there at that hour to rescue, Kismet.

In the close up I can't see the blue but when I look at the picture in the discussion, I can see the tint of blue.

Well, so far that is good. I responded to another discussion before I had heard the back story. I am glad you could help the little one.

how cute!
Better you than me. Once I take my night meds...I'm gone. There is now walking, no driving no nothing. I slept through a horrific thunderstorm last night.
Glad to hear that she is ok. Kismet is a cute name!

Kismet looks to be a bit Siamese in her coloring but her points are very pale. I also think she'll bring you good luck. She's a keeper.

She is a cutie and I love the name! She is a lucky one indeed! It looks as though she may have Siamese type colouring but it is difficult for me to say. All I can see is that she is going to be beautiful. I am so glad you took her and cared for her. You are very special for doing all you do for felines, good on you.

I can't tell what color she will be, maybe a blonde. She was lucky that you came to help her and that there isn't anything serious wrong with her.

Think she's going to be a blue point...
I've got one with FIV, but we had him tested when we first got him and he tested neg, only a few years later did he test positive...
Before that I had Hobo who was FIV+, but he didn't have any teeth!
I worry far more about FeLuk

Wow that sure is one lucky kitten! Good thing you all got to her in time and it was nice of you to do what you did. She's a cutie, that's for sure, and I'm glad it's working out. :) Looks like she's going to be a light color like a white or orangey color. You'll have to post a pic when all her hair grows in and let us know what color she ends up being!

That cat is so cute. I hope she survives and gets to live a long life. A cat that small wouldn't make it with our three big cats here. Almost reminds me of when I first got my cat Precious. He fit in the palm of my hand ( I was 15) and now he's such a big boy. And a couch hog... Looks like I'm not going to crash out on the couch tonight.

Very cute kitty and very lucky to be saved by you. I sincerely thank you for taking care of a stray kitty. I think she's white with a little of yellowish color. I miss having a baby kitty but sad that I am not allowed to bring one in the house :(.
Your an Angel !
