*take 2* (the first one didn't go through) It's hot here in the US! Are you guys going out, even though they are warning us not too? do you bring water, make sure you're clothes (and those of your kids) are cool enough? If you exercise during the morning or at lunch break, are you still doing that? Not all states have the heat advisory anymore, but for those that do.. woo. I think NC is still under a heat advisory. So are you staying in?

We have had alot of hot weather here in Indiana. We stay in when we are too tired to go out and get in the pool since we work nights.

I wish I had a pool! I can't wait to go swimming, hopefully that will be possible within the next few weeks. I like night shift jobs, but that's just me. Well Hopefully it will cool down for all of us soon, though I think here it's actually nice today, 80 degrees isn't too bad.

We were staying with my parents until recently, and they have central air and a pool right off the back deck. We were in Paradise, especially since we were going in the pool several times a day and we don't have that luxury at home.

Oh that is great! I love visiting people who have a pool, either they own or is in their neighborhood, especially on hot days. It's been four or five years since I've last been swimming and I am hoping that I can go swimming this summer at some point. Heat or not! Luckily it's 70's here today, and chance of storms that might knock it down to 60's!

We had another day of over 100 degrees yesterday. It was 106 degrees and the humidity was awful. I'm trying to stay in when it gets past 11am. If I need to do anything I try to do it before then. Anything like errands that is. It's just too stinkin' hot.

Luckily it's cooled down here. I hope a bit of rain come sthrough and cools you guys off as well. I heard on the news 33 states WERE in the advisory and I THINK it was knocked down to only 8, but don't quote me on that.

Mostly I am staying in. We did get a little rain yesterday evening and overnight and that has helped. I exercise inside at the YMCA, but I always have a bottle of water with me, and especially in the car. I worried when you said you were walking three hours each way for a job. The bike will be quicker, but still hot. You be sure to take care of yourself as well.

I'm still not sure I've got the job, I need to call. They seemed to have a lot of people to interview, it seemed like they were restocking the whole store with employees! In any case, yeah I think I'd have been walking early morning and late late night or something... I've got the bike, and the money (online) for a bike chain...

woowe 117! I think I'd have been staying in and eating ice cream, frozen shaved ice, or something like that all day. Too bad you didn't get to go to the beach, hopefully now that it's cooler you can make that trip.

I have to go from home to work, and normally I walk over to get mail, but I might drive the short distance depending on how I feel (I did in 09, it was tooo hot!) I live in Texas so I do know how to dress for this mess, but it doesn't make it any fun even so...

it isn't fun, but because it was "ONLY" 93 at 1 I walked over, do I really think it was ONLY 93 - no... but it wasn't 100 yet... actually the humidity depends on where you are in Texas... pretty bad here, but not like down on the coast

Yeah, I don't blame you. I know Texas heat is harsh, I think it's more humidity in Texas too that makes it so bad?

In Louisiana its been crazy hot in the morning, but rains every evening. We don't go out but maybe once a week to get groceries, and we do that early morning. Our son is mad cuz he can't go play outside much, but we do let him out on the carport when its raining. And I have started a project that I have to be out in the heat for. I'm digging a pond. The rain keeps the ground soft and I dig in the evening after if rains so its not too bad. I'm still covered in sweat though. But its not that bad here I guess, compared to last summer when we had all our air conditioners on and it was still over 80 degrees in the house. But that was late august so well have to wait and see.

I hope it doesn't get as bad as last year for you guys then! Good luck with digging that pond, how much more do you need to dig?

I've been working on it about a week and ill probably finish digging by this Friday. I was going to stop but I've decided to make it bigger. It will be about 6feet by 10feet when I'm done. But its actually a little cooler outside right now so I'm about to head out and start digging again. Hope the weather stays like this all week so maybe I can finish sooner.

I am in SC and we have been under a heat advisory for a good minute. Best things I can suggest to help yourself if you have to be out in it. 1 : Don't be out during the hottest point of the day, if you don't have to. 2 : Keep plenty of cool water in you, and stay hydrated. 3 : Were airy type clothes, but remember (like I have too) to wear sunblock for your skin. I get rashes from too much sun exposure. 4 : Wear a hat, if you don't mind, a "wide brim" hat that will provide your face a little relief from the sun. 5 : Wear sunglasses with proper U.V. protection for your eyes. 6 : If your going to exercise, plan to go during the expected coolest point of the day (Weather forecast helps).

I don't know what the high was today, but at 6 pm here it is still 98 with the heat index. That is a good 10 degrees cooler than it was the entire past week. I have been drinking a lot of water and only really going outside to go to work although the kids and I were out playing in the water one day last week and I mowed the grass.

Mid 80's, not much humidity, what's the deal?

right now I don't have a bedroom for myself, but you're welcome to the air mattress...

The deal is that I hope you have a spare bedroom, because I am moving in with you for a while ... at least until the temperature in my house gets down to the mid-eighties without much humidity.

I haven't been out in several days. It has been over 100 each day now and I can't handle it. We need to be drinking alot of water to keep hydrated expesionally if we are going out in the heat. If you get dehydrated it can make you very ill very quickly. It isn't fun at all!

I am not sure that going out is any more or less dangerous than staying in at this point. We only have fans ... no air conditioners ... and the only thing that fans do in this heat and humidity is move around the hot and humid air but that is about all. We don't have the money to buy air conditioners, but we were going to break down and buy one anyway, because it was so bad here. There are none to be found, though, as all the local stores have sold out of them. By the way, did I mention that it was 95 degrees inside the house the past couple of days? It is not as bad yet today ... only 85 degrees and rising. Oh yeah, and the baby pool that we have (or even the bathtub to cool us down) we aren't able to fill, because we have not gotten much rain in the past couple of weeks and are on a well, which usually is not a problem but we don't want to risk it just in case as we are drinking so much water that it is ridiculous. We can't even keep up with the ice cubes and were going to buy some at the store, but they have sold out of those as well at the moment. *sigh*

It's not really hot here anymore. It's actually starting to rain here so it's still a nuisance.

I have seen all the images of the heat advisory across the continent. And how people are coping with it. But we here in the Pacific Northwest couldn't really relate as it has been unseasonably cold these past few days. It was even raining here just the other day. So, yes we are staying in because it's cold outside.
