I am moving to Alabama to be with my husband again! He has found an amazing job that will take care of all of us and we will have health benefits and he gets vacation time!! I am excited but a little nervous. I will be moving August 6th so that week I will be on and off here but not a whole lot of time on here since I will be moving...So, no need to worry or anything I will be back once things get settled down there. I have moved but not this far and not out of state since I moved with my parents 8 years ago. So, I am a little nervous, not going to lie. Have you ever been nervous to move out of state? What were some of your fears?

I have been here in Virginia since the age of 8! Ironically when I was 8 I didn't want to leave Pennsylvania!I never want to leave . I will travel but Virginia is home. Enough about me, I'm sooooo happy for you. It is normal to be nervous but you will have Hubby and All of you will make friends. Southerners are very friendly. Tell Hubby Mazel Tov! Finally to see something good happen to good people. Ok. I will just think no news is good news! Now the fun part Packing!Take care.

I am not sure I want to leave either. I lived in NY until I was 18 years old. I loved it there, that was home to me. Then my parents decided they were moving to NC. I never thought I could get used to it. I finally did. So, I have been here for 8 years now. I am really not ready to leave here. I am not a big person on change. However, if it will better our lives and we will stop struggling all the time it is well worth it. I just hope all goes well and he doesn't lose another job...

Any move for a family is always worrysome. There is a lot of uncertainty that goes with it. But it's great that there are already some guarantees on the place that you are moving too. I'm sure that if it's for the betterment of the family, it would be all worth it. Goodluck to you and your family!

It is great to know that your husband found a job as they can be hard to find right now. Also, I would love to move out of state. I have only done it once, but I would love to again. I didn't want to come back when we did, but had too. I wish you the best and I bet you will love it in Alabama.

Yeah he is a welder, thank God. That job is almost anywhere. Other jobs are a nightmare to find right now I know. My friend has a bachelor degree and she is working at McDonalds. The reason we are moving is mainly due to NO jobs in this small military town... Thank you, I hope I like it there and everything goes well.

I am happy for you. That is a very good opportunity for your whole family.Better job with better privileges and I believe higher pay. But you are nervous! Well, I do understand why you are nervous. Moving out to another place can really bring some anxiety to anyone. Of course it is a new place and you don't really know exactly how you can cope. Nevertheless, just expect for the best and surely you will be fine. I've never really experienced moving out to another place. I have experienced transferring to a new home but not really out of the town where I was born. I don't think I would like to move out from my native town. I have grown so accustomed to this place and besides my whole clan is living here so I would prefer living here for the rest of my life till God calls me to leave for my eternal home.

Thank you. Yes it is better benefits and better pay. I just hope he sticks with it. Yeah it's the moving and hoping he will keep this job. I will expect the worst but hope for the best so there are no real let downs. It is a good yet scary thing to do. Trust me.

I have never moved out of state. Always been in Minnesota. But congratulations to your husband on the new job. Luckily you won't be alone in the transition - as your hubby and kids will be with you throughout the entire time. I would imagine it's scary at first to move out of your comfort zone, to live in a totally new place, but I would imagine that given time you will adjust to it (and hopefully love it!) Good luck to ya!

Thank you! I am so glad I will have my husband and my kids by my side. It is a scary thing since it is so far away to move from everything I know. I hope I adjust quick and I pray that I love it there and everything goes well.

Congratulations are in order!! The family will be back together again soon..Yeh, I know the jitters. I had them back in 1987 when Liz and I moved to Atlanta from 'home' in Cincinnati but I got over them as 'home' drifted further south..You'll be fine..Enjoy!

Happy to know that you will be joining your husband in his new place. I am sure you'll be pretty busy settling down in your new home and hope you can overcome your anxiety and nervousness. It is normal to have mixed feelings when uprooting yourself to a new environment but you'll soon get over it and feel at home in your adopted state. When I move to a new district some years ago it took me a while to adopt myself to the new environment and make new friends.

Thank you. I am happy too. I will be busy and I hope I can overcome my fears. Its going to be a difficult task for me. I hope it won't take me long to find friends and feel like it is home...

And there you were, all worried about not being able to manage it a little while ago! The combined positive thoughts of MyLot have obviously reconfigured the universe (or at least Alabama) and created what you needed. It's magic! I'm always nervous when I move, though I've done it so much that national moves don't bother me so much any more. I was very nervous when I moved to France (from the UK) though, with the language difference and everything. My fears are always the same ones: learning to find my way around, whether the neighbours will be insufferable, how the medical stuff will be (for the person I care for), whether the landlord will be a nutcase or not. The usual. Just remember to pack your undies. Everything else is easy if you've got comfortable underwear.

Haha, lol. Your right, I know. =) It is magic! I couldn't handle moving somewhere the language is different. I would get lost within 5 minutes and no one would be able to tell me where to go...SCARY! I will definitely remember to pack my undies! LOL. You are too funny. You could brighten anyone's day I know it!

I am so happy to hear about this. Thanks God he was able to find something that will make life a little better. Something about new beginnings that get me excited and I am excited for you. Fear of the unknown is always at the back of our minds when embarking on this type of journey. But have faith in who you are. You know you can handle just about anything that comes. Just kick the dust off your shoes and move on up girl. My prayers and best wishes go with you. Hot dang, Alabama! lol Hope to hear from you soon. A whole new chapter of discussions here.

Thank you! I am happy too. Nervous but happy. Yeah I am thanking God also. Thank you so much. =) Yeah I guess it is the fear of not knowing what its like there and whats going to happen. I hate that feeling. Finding a new home and a nicer home and not struggling anymore is what makes me happy about it! I pretty much can handle anything that comes my way. Thank you for the prayers and good wishes! Sweet Home Alabama, LOL!

i've never moved out of state as such, as we don't have states here, but i have moved to a town away from my town that was an hour and a halfs drive away. it doesn't seem like much but northern ireland is a small place so to actually move that distance is a big thing. thats so strange because i just left a comment under your other discussion saying could you not move to be with him lol! i have magic powers! i wish you all the best though, and take care, just incase i forget to say it before the moving date!

Yeah I guess since its so small it is a big thing. Yeah I wanted to go with him sooner but I have a job that I had to work for because the other secretary went on vacation. And since we needed the money I had to take it. My job is ending on August 1st, and my husband will be coming up here to help pack on the 2nd and so the 6th we will be heading to Alabama. Thank you so much! =)
