Nope, i'd have to go 110 miles to do so and with the gas prices the way they are that would be rediculous hahahaha.....hey she should give you a little something for your time :)

I have grandsons but they are all grown up and there are no great grands yet. They all live away from me anyway... one is in Mississippi... I wish to see some great grands, but none are on the horizon yet.

I´m very glad for you, Jo, as I know how much you love your grandson. I´m not doing much these days besides straying at home of going to the hospital for chemo as I was diagnosed a lymphoma some months ago. In fact, this last weekend I saw, after almost 2 months, my little granddaughter. She had a cold so she could not be brought for a visit. She is walking and she is not yet a year old. I´m proud and had the best weekend

I have at least 5 more months with chemo and then we´ll see. But I´m accepting it. I have had a very good life and I´m surrounded by loving people. You can´t ask for more.

CONGRATULATIONS! I am sure this makes you both happy. Where is the new baby? I use to take care of two of my grandchildren when they were little. I remember my grandson asking me one day "Grandma, is your job taking care of us so our moms can work?"

Awww that's great..No, I ca't pick up my grandkids because I have no car, but even if I did, my daughter wouldn't want me near her kids.. I do wish my own son had a grandparent who could pick him up from school, because one of my problems is if I got a job, my son would come home to an empty house sometimes if my husband or I couldn't get home in time..

Well I believe he is old enough, he is 9, and it wouldn't be for long, maybe an hour at the most, but still it makes me uneasy..

stephcjh and antique, I refer you to II Timothy 3:1-5 re today's "last generations" of "adults" and I use the term adult loosely. "Lovers of self, disobedient to parents, having no natural affection, unholy, blasphemers, etc." I, too, know the agony all too well. Perhaps we are the last generation of "grandparents" who understand anything about God's wisdom and order. Family breakdown, school indoctrination against God and parental authority, Hollywood/media, and other satanic/evil forces have had their influence over too many impressionable young minds and have worked to pervert them. The Casey Anthony case epitomizes the perversion and ignorance of truth and justice of today's generations. "Woe to those who call good evil and evil good". My heart aches for every precious, innocent little one everywhere subjected to the murder and mayhem they face, even in the womb, and at the hands of "adults" who don't even care to understand that "children are a gift from God".

It is great that you're helping your daughter in law with her child care issues while she tries to work. This will be very beneficial for her family. I wish you were my MIL.. as I could use the same kind of help so that I could get a full time day job.

I had guardianship of my granddaughter for a dozen years from the time she was about four until she was sixteen. I got her up, fed her and took her to daycare until she got into school. She came home on the bus most days but after she got into junior high and high school I would occasionally have to go pick her up from school because she refused to work. Sure glad those days are over.

It surely is a blessing to see one's grandchildren every day! It is important as well to ensure his safety within the "system'. As an educator over a period of 40 years, I can assure you that it is necessary to be vigilant over what he is being taught, so discuss it with him each day. It is both my "professional" and personal opinion that, if at all possible, you endeavor to homeschool him in order to ensure that he is getting an education rather than an indoctrination, as well as ensuring safety.

It sure is a blessing. Thanks for your response & your suggestions. I am not smart enough to home school him & besides he thinks i'm just his play pretty, lol. He is a good student & i hope he stays that way. My son & dil have done a great job w/him. They have taught him manners & how to behave & i'm so thankful they have.He shows me his work everyday & does his homework as soon as he gets here if he has any then we play.He has told me every day about some child that did not do their homework. What sorry parents he must have.

I love your responses. UR intelligence really comes through in your responses. I was sooo glad when my 2nd son graduated . I had a great concern for him in high school. I dread my grandson getting there there is sooo much meaness that goes on. He battled a bully all of last school year & the little brat has started in w/him again. My son has already written a note & it was just the 2nd week of school.Thankfully my son is interested in my grandson. So many parents aren't. That's such a shame when the parents aren't.

You don't have to be spectacularly "smart" to homeschool. Most programs are already laid out for you on computer and all supplies are provided in the best programs. Additionally there is a supervising credentialled teacher provided for each student. It's not just the academics, but rather the political indoctrinizing that is of concern; it's far more worrisome than just not doing homework, but the across the nation teachers' union greed, lack of academic standard, teachers cheating on standardized test scores, and indoctrination of children re mandatory radical agendas. To me, it is an issue of safety at all levels, from physical to emotional, psychological, spiritual.

Hi Anti! I'm so happy for you. I remember some posts where you were a bit sad because you didn't get to see too much of your grandson. I'm glad that things have worked out where you now can see him every day. I know you enjoy that and I bet he does too. I bet you have cookies for him too...I wanna come!

Since I'm to young to have grands, I used to pick my oldest up from school each day and also dropped her off. It was a good and bad thing. I liked the time we spent together, but I didn't like the gas used to do it twice a day, 5 days a week. When she got in the first grade, we decided it was time for her to ride the bus. I would walk with her to the bus stop, and be waiting for her when the bus came. Even now that she's 15, I still go outside and wait with her.

I do pick up my grandson from the baby sitter sometimes though very rarely. Sometimes on a Saturday after office hours I pick him up and keep him at my place for a couple of hours till my daughter comes from work and picks him up.

You seem very happy about your new job. I'm sure it will be wonderful for you to see your grandson everyday. I don't have grandchildren yet, but I used to pick my sons up at school, when they were much younger. I didn't do it very often because they took the bus most days. But, they always loved it when I picked them up. It was a nice change and we got to see each other sooner. I miss those years.

This is wonderful for you both. I know that you are happy and I am sure that Ryan will be over the moon to see you daily. I do occasionally pick up my eldest GD from school but only occasionally. I used to do it more often but her mother now works for herself with her own business out of home so she mostly does it. Enjoy this experience with him as you will become even closer to each other. I am so happy for you Blessings
