This is very strange to me. It is almost as if he is trying to grab attention from the GOP. I don’t think this is very presidential and way too early for this type of politicking. I understand they are all always running for the next election, but I am disappointed in Obama for looking so weak starting this bus tour.

I truly believe it's because President Obama know's that he's not a shoe in for re-election. His popularity has dropped alot in some polls that I saw. He also took alot of heat for going on vacation down Cape Cod while the stock market and economy is crumbling. All I hear mentioned is that we could be heading for another recession, then I ask myself 'when did the recession ever end?

OK but right after the tour he's going to Martha's Vineyard..I think it looks weak for a Pres to take a bus tour..I compare than to Air Force One and the bus tour just seems not so dignified. Plus this is right after the GOP straw poll. It looks as if Obama is trying to take attention away...the timing and geograhic areas of interest for him is what I especially question.

He wants people to think he really understands the common people. Sort of like when Queen Catherine the Great took a tour of Russia. And she was a great ruler unlike Obama. The thing is that it will not work. And besides he did not listen to them only to those who agreed with him. He is out of touch with the American people and it does not look right especially then before that he was flying around in jets. If he wanted to show his bond with the American people he should have started going on a bus or on train stops before he was elected and made train or bus tours a common occurrence. Not to try to get the glory from the Republicans.

I am more inclined to think that Obama is being hypocritical. He is trying to show that he cares and that he understands- i.e. willing to travel in a bus like ordinary folk but it is not working. As for security, I do not think that is a worry, the bus probably has heavy armour plating on it. But them I am thinking of that old movie starring Bill Murray. Sorry do not real the name, but then my brain does not work good in the am.

I think bus trips are for candidates..not presidents. I just think it's so undignified..and it must be a security nightmare for secret service.

It is campaign time and the competition is on. I only wish there was law preventing acting officials from running for office at taxpayers' expense. Use your own money and we will deduct money for hours not spent in office working for taxpayers.

lol I think we could all agree with that one, but your great idea will never have support...except from those who actually pay the bills...i.e. the taxpayers...

It is so characteristic of him. He loves bus tours and golf tours and "dates" at home and abroad with Michelle, and month long vacations at Martha's Vineyard, but real responsibility and problem solving he shies away from. I'm beginning to think the presidency has been just a big party for Obama, and he is thoroughly content to fiddle while Rome burns, so to speak.

He certainly didn't achieve what so many expected of him. I am sympathetic to the fact he inherited problems, but I see little improvement in the 2 1/2 years. Certainly not the change he promised.

What's not to understand? It shouldn't seem strange and it's not "almost if" he's trying to grab attention from the GOP. He most definitely is trying to get the focus back on him and possible plans for putting people back to work. The biggest problem is he is talking about the importance of getting the job market cranking without actually proposing, let alone doing, anything to help. It's one thing to hear promises from a candidate who cannot yet do anything, but quite another to hear a sitting President saying what we should be doing and then not actually doing anything. Whoever proposed this bus tour right now should be fired from his staff. It's making him look worse.

I agree..and the clips of his promises to create jobs for the last 2 years is played over and over. No wonder his poll numbers are so low. Even his strongest supporters like Maxine Waters are questioning his actions..and inactions...

He is doing just what he did with the Stimulus Package and the Health Care Bill - his people told him he had to do something so he did. With the Stimulus Package he did all the talking and making all the promises but let a few members of congress and a few senators put the thing together. He was told to get Health care reform and again he let others put it together and he was the promoter. He has no plan for this bus tour other than his people told him to do go out and meet the people. He was to do what he does best make speeches and say nothing. I think his people don't want him around to mess things up. Maybe that is the reason he golf so much and is on vacation or traveling or now on a bus tour.

Shouldn't his people have told him to go somewhere else and don't invest so much in busses right now.

It's simple. It's an illegal use of government resources for campaigning.

I think they will justify the busses and campaigning, but I am still hung up on why now, why there...
