Who participates at myLot?

I've been here almost a month now, and I've met many people from many cultures. But I'm interested in what brings them all to myLot and keeps them here. What kind of people hang out here? What do they have in common that keeps them coming back? Have people's reasons for participating here regularly, changed over the years since MyLot started? If you were a reporter doing an article about myLot, how would you describe the characteristics of the people it attracts? What are your own reasons for being here?

I am member here from three years ago but a less members from my joining period is remaining here and still mylotting.... nearly not more than 5%.... The group of friends here often changed. The group that i had three years ago.... only two members are here but they are not so active... So there are three type of members.. 1. regular from joining period..... ( having gaps of days or may not be) 2. Irregular from joining period... were active but due to some issue they are some where else now. 3. they who join mylot and after a few posts bye bye for ever. have a nice time.

@ bagarad, you ask a great question. My understanding is that if the mylotter is banned, most are allowed to return with a new username, so oont as they are following the rules they ate allowed to stay. I think few are banned for life, lol. Great question for GAA to come and elaborate on.

It is good to know that you've been here for three years and still active. Over the years we have seen high rate of members turnover but some of those who left return with new accounts.

Can someone explain this coming and going with different accounts thing to me? Doesn't administration know it's the same person joining again? Everyone else seems to, since I constantly hear people teased about how many identities they've had here. If people are deleted, can they just come back with a different account?

I am one of those who benefited from my active participation in mylot. I feel I write better now as I have full confidence in expressing my thoughts in this language for others to read and understand me well especially the native speakers. I couldn't ask for more with a site that has groomed me to interact in a language that is so foreign to me.

I like your mentioning this as a way to improve English. If I could find a site like this in a language I know a bit of, I might go there to practice a language I studied but haven't had much opportunity to use. I'm glad you're enjoying myLot as I am.

I would say the people who find it easier to write then to talk would like it here. Also people who have problems that they do not want to talk about to their own friends or relatives. And there would be those who like to solve problems, maybe also famous people who do not want others to know their real names and yet want to give information about their work. I am sure there is one here who is in politics. And I am also sure there a few authors here that I would recognize if they gave their real names. I do not want to probe too deeply because sometimes by giving too much information, they have revealed who they really are, such as cities, people they know, etc. That is why I do not want to give more then my suspicions. I do love to write and like to know what is going on. And also to find those who have the same interests as I have.

I sort of ask for advise, and that is when I get a response, I get the idea that that person knows something. I do know someone here told me he was in polities, and there was another who told me that he was a musician. Have no idea who they are., but it does make it interesting. What I want to find out if any of my offline friends are here, but well Winnipeg has such a large population.

I'm one of those who enjoys writing more than talking because I have time to think about what I will say without missing what someone else has said. I have not been looking for famous people in our midst, but maybe they, too, enjoy being incognito.

Hello! Nice question. I'm here first of all to earn some money, eventually, I'm not here because of money after all. I'm here because when I'm inside this site, I felt like I'm in the different world. I log on here to escape the problem and pain from the outside world for the meantime. Mylot relaxes my mind and refreshes me. I am thankful that this site existed.

People are here to earn of course. But as they learn to interact, it becomes secondary already. I guess, when one is opinionated, he/she would certainly enjoy it here. Being able to share their opinions and express their feelings without feeling restricted and guilty , is what makes them always come back at Mylot.

That's the main reason I'm here. The kind of writing I like best is actually answering questions or expressing opinons. I have that opportunity, here.

I have started joining in mylot just few weeks ago courtesy of a friend. Truly I find this site pretty interesting. When I'm in mylot I feel like I'm in a classroom setting wherein I have to participate to get a good grade. But in mylot I have to participate to get a pay. However, this is not the only reason why I hook myself up in mylot. In mylot I can freely share my ideas, my opinions and my experiences about something or anything that catches my interest. Also, mylot is another avenue of gaining friends. :-)

I've been here for 5+ years, back when there were only a few hundred. One of the things that keeps me coming back is that I've met so many friends here. Some of them have developed into friendships where we interact at other sites together, or through emails to our private in-boxes. I love the fact that there are so many different cultures and types of people on here. I've learned a lot about other peoples lifestyles, cultures, and areas of the world that I'd otherwise never get a chance to know about. Sure, I could read about other countries, but that would always be a biased opinion by somebody who doesn't live that lifestyle. Personally, I'm mainly here for the conversations, and of course, getting some change for responding is always a plus too. With the constantly growing membership, I do find it changes some, but not in a bad way. What kind of people hang out here? People who like to talk with others and discuss different things that interest us. If I was a reporter writing an article about myLot, I would say that it's a global community with a melting-pot of discussions. Being a member means that we're open to listen to others ideas, and maybe learn something new along the way. It can even change the way you look at things sometimes! This is a good site too for people who are learning English as a second language. What a better way to hone skills than interacting, reading, and learning the rhythm of the English language, and to learn other cultures views at the same time?!

and the friendships here are real, when I fell and injured myself badly causing me to miss mylot for 20 days while I got well in the rehab hospital, mylot friends made inquiries about me to the front desk here at Gold C rest. these are the actions of real friends. then i was missing again due to my roommate coming down with shingles and being contagious I was forced to g o to another room and was again off the computer. so one of my my lot friends called me long distance from Chicago I am in California just to find out what had happened to me., I was truly touched.

I enjoy it here because there are so many different topics discussed that I can nearly always find something of interest. And, of course, there are the people. It's interesting to read posts from people from around the world in varying social and financial positions. As a writer, I'm curious about a lot of things and myLot helps satisfy some of that. It also piques my interest in new things and gives me ideas for articles. Good questions1

I'm a WannaB Writer and am also always on the prowl for new ideas. This is a good place to test public interest in a topic and to see discover details I might not even think to look up. I really enjoy the international interaction and seeing what people from other countries really do think.

I am one of those diehard member who never call it quits despite the many social networking sites now available in the cyberworld. Looks like I have overstayed my tenancy in mylot and still find the excitement to go on mylotting. I feel at home in mylot especially with the regular friends that I interact daily. Mylot has become a 'must' for me when I go online. It has become my second home for the last five years and never find it boring here as everyday promises new topics to read and respond. I think most of those who frequent mylot are people who have so much of time in their hands besides participating in mylot is a fun way of exercising the brain.

What keeps me coming back is this is a community..I come to to discuss and mingle with people..I learn from them, I share what knowledge I have, I ask for help, and I even sit on pins and needles waiting for a friend to say, "She got the job!!!" This is my life, since I am home bound due to no car, I wouldn't know what I'd do without it..

I am also glad we are friends, your posts are thought provoking and interesting..

Mylot truly attracts the whole entire globe. I was actually expecting a larger number of people on this site but over 200,000 isn't all that bad. The number can bring fellow Mylotters a lot closer. I always have to go on Mylot everyday even just for a bit. Not only can I earn but learn at the same time. Meeting different people from all walks of life offering their varying opinions helps me a lot. Reading other people's experiences also helps me of possible future experiences I may confront. It's great to have both offline and online friends to discuss and talk to.

First of all, this site pays and it's why people have joined. And then, they realized that MyLot is an honest site that really pays and not only that, its members keep returning because they realize that there are so much discussions on this site that they probably couldn't find elsewhere. The diversity, everyone sharing their stories from anything to everything. It's like a community in here. I'm new but I have to say I really enjoy all of the discussions. Besides, I don't think we can even have all these various discussions with our friends on Facebook.

You are right about that. Facebook is only slightly better than Twitter for having a discussion. They don't give you enough characters anymore to complete a thought.

Hello bagarad, In my view, most of the mylotters join MyLot for the purpose to add some more cash in their monthly income. And when they start their their journey at Mylot for earning purpose, they slowly connect with the friendly community of MyLot. You not only earn here at Mylot but also you learn and socialize with hundreds of people from different corners of the world. That is why I love MyLot

and again bagarad these are truly real friendships , people who care about one other..loving and caring and sharing, its what makes mylot so special to me. they have accepted an elderly handicapped woman in a very tiresome retirement center. Not everyone wants to be friends with an elderly person but I am accepted and cared for by my friends here. I love this community so much.

I think the friends people make and the discussions keep people coming back and maybe even the money for some lol. Im pretty new here myself so I dont know how its changed over the years and I havent been on mylot long enough to describe the type of people it attracts but Im sure it attracts many different types of people.

Helllo bagarad, You have so many questions there my friend. Do you really think I can answer them all? let me try just be patient with me here. If Media was interested in social network site like mylot, this site would have been popular along time ago. but i don't think so. some people made articles of mylot but not part from the media, just ordinary people whom got paid because they are active here. My reasons here are either for the discussions, responses and comments or the benefit of getting benefit. But most importantly. friends. http://www.moneymaker1985.blogspot.com/ i have chat to some of them in FB.

I personally love mylot, it is actually one of my favorite sites. I get to meet different people and speak my mind and discuss things and get different types of ideas. The only downfall is that I don't have as much time as I would like to dedicate to it, between work, school and my children, there is only so much time in the day that I can actually discuss. Sometimes it's days before I log on again and do anything in mylot, but I try to atleast log on two or three times a week and do something.

I'm beginnng to feel the outside pressure, too. I will have less time to spend at MyLot than I expected this week because I either have to clear a guest room of what I'm storing in it before Friday, or I have to travel on Friday. My cousin I haven't seen in about 35 years is coming from TX Friday and I just found out about it today. If he still wants to come here after all I told him about the long drive in bad traffic, I will have to find somewhere for them to sleep, and it will take me both days to clear a bedroom of stuff being stored on both beds and in the middle of the room. I suggested we meet in a town in the middle so we each would drive only about three hours. Then my husband and I would get a motel that night after our meeting and go home the next day. Then I would not have to work as hard and my cousin would not have such a drive when he's arriving at his wife's parent' home Friday morning in Southern California and going back to Texas on Monday morning. I hate to think of them doing all that driving in Southern California traffic.

Well congrats, I know how anxious you must be to see your cousin, it's been a long time. That is definitely a long drive for them, I would personally meet them half way, and at the same time you get to get out and get some fresh and disconnect yourself. Instead of having to work so hard in clearing up the room. Well what ever you decide to do, I wish you luck and most importantly enjoy your time with your family that is precious time you could never get back. Have Fun and don't worry mylot will always be here when you get back!!!

Well, I will start like this, what keeps you coming back? I think if you know the answer to that then you know what keeps people coming back here day after day. I would explain it like this, I love reading the discussions and responding to the ones that interest me, in addition to that, I look forward to some of the discuss that my friends start. I also love responding and following up on discussions. And above all, I love all the friends I have here. It just feels comfortable.

I hear what you're saying. I feel the same way. However, I do not start my day off with MyLot. I have some daily sites that I do everyday and those are how I start my day. Then I go to an awesome social network that I belong to that pays me every month and then I come here to MyLot. Now, there are those nights that I wind up staying either here on MyLot or on the other site I use and I loose track of time. I am in the process of working out a time schedule for all the sites I use.

I was surfing on the internet and found this site by chance. Actually I found a site from a MyLot member who was recommending several sites. Among those sites was MyLot. I found nice people here and you can chat with them and learn about their thoughts and ideas. I would improve my English knowledge too and at least I can earn a little bit of money -although most important is to meet new friends and start quality discussions.

Hi I thought you had been on mylot longer than a month. I noticed that you usually respond to my post's and you do seem to spend a long time here. Your responses always seem sensible as if you try to be as accurate as possible. I find there are a lot of people from the Philippines and India on this site. It's nice to know what interests others in different countries and if there overall opinions differ greatly. Being a British Grandad of five Grandchildren, three boys, two girls, I like to know what younger people think. Even with people from the states I have found that many have no time for Obama and would like to see him out of power, whereas I found him to be one of your better leaders who is not keen on anyone outside the states. I am aware that's your home country and would like to converse more.

I have been putting intense sessions in this month because I want to get to 500 points as quickly as possible to get the perks that make backing up my posts and adding pictures to comments possible. I also am interested in learning what those in other countries think about their daily lives at home and what is going on outside their countries.
