Who did you welcome 2012 with?

2012 was welcomed with a bang! I enjoyed watching the fireworks. We did not spend on fireworks but my cousins did. They actually bought a lot. My niece and nephews enjoyed the show a lot! The eve was spent with my family. The next day, we travelled to the province to start the year with other relatives and friends. We shared a lot of stories. Yeah, about what happened in 2011 and what we all expect in 2012. How was your New Year? Who did you welcome this new year with?

I welcomed 2012 at in an apartment in a 21th floor ( my very best friend´s daughter´s home). They rented the big terrace with a barbecue and from there we could see the mayor fireworks of the city. My friends´ rapanui adopted son came from the island and brought the most exquisite fish. They even made a tuna ceviche (raw fish cooked with lemon oil). A cousin had lived in Australia and New Zeland for some years and the conversation about different countries was a lot more interesting than the fireworks we got to see and the beautiful city lights from above. Yesterday was a family day. I went to see my mom in the morning, had lunch with my youngest daughter and then we all went for diner to my eldest daughter´s.

About 10 families in our village get together each New Years Eve for a party. The girls share out the cooking of the supper and the men buy the drink and we rotate the venue each year to another home. We pay £10 a head for expenses and share any left over. Best of all, we can have a social drink and not worry about driving home - we walk! All new people who have come into the village during the year are invited and it is a great way of getting to know them and making them part of the community apart from the regular meeting places such as the church or social club or Womens Institute which they may not be interested in. A lot of fun, games and laughter and bed by 2am! Us old'uns can still party!! Happy New Year to you all

I welcomed 2012 with my bed. I wasn't feeling well that night. I had clogged nose. Although I did go down and checked what my family was doing. My nieces and nephews were busy with the karaoke, my brother was lighting fireworks while my mother was busy in the kitchen. My little niece and nephew were asleep then. After that, I went back to bed.

I spent the start of 2012 with my daughter and grandson. We had a quiet evening at home as there was too much of noise in the surrounding area and we could hardly even hear each other!

The best and safest place to be during New Year is definitely the home!

hi dear dolce_vita you seemed to have had a really great start into 2012. Ours was nice too. I welcomed the new year with my husband and it was really nice. Nothing really extraordinary here but peaceful and quiet and this year no forced phone calls or text messages to my family of origin. That was the nicest bit of all.......

I welcomed it with my dog. Which is fine because he let me sleep! I had a migraine so I turned in a little after 10pm on New Year's Eve.

I welcomed 2012 alone if you are talking people. I was with my two dogs in my lounge. In the bedrooms my kids were fast asleep. Outside I heard some fireworks go bang and saw a few flashes of light. I spent the first day of the year with the members of my family. It sounds like you had a fantastic beginning to 2012.

It was just another day like any really. Spent a few hours at the in-laws. Then bought all sorts of appetizers at the grocery store and chowed down. Though I was not feeling the greatest most of the day so I went to bed early and my eldest crawled into bed shortly after with me while my hubby stayed up to 12:10 and then called it a new year!

Nothing special on that day. 31st was the date of our principal's retirement and we had launch of all staff to give him a farewell and reached home at 9:30pm being tired. Went to bed early and on 1st January, i was fully busy with my seminar works. Have a nice time.

I had a great New Years. Well, most of the day, I was working but glad to get off early. Then I spent the rest of the night with my hubby, welcoming in the new year. We spent the whole night watching stuff on TV and also taking silly pictures. He was sitting back drinking his drink and I had sparkling grape juice. It was a lot of fun to welcome in the New Year with him.

I welcomed the New Year in bed. Actually I was kind of up, as I had to go to the bathroom come to think of it. I went back to my bedroom, saw the clock, saw it was midnight, shrugged my shoulders and promptly just went right back to bed like pretty much nothing had in fact happened. The passing of another year and all I wanted was to get some sleep. Just another day for me this year. The only thing that I needed to do is to remember to put down a different date, as in 2012 as opposed to 2012. I welcomed the New Year in a daze, as I sank right back to bed. Another year just had really passed and I'm sure there was much drunken insanity in the old town on New Year's Eve night, but as I was in bed, I didn't care.

I spent it all by myself. My husband had to work and my daughter spent the night with a friend so I just worked online all night and around the house.

As usual we conclude the year while ushering the new year in my matriarch home. There were lots of leftover titbits left during the christmas and we finished them all during the new year eve.

I welcomed the new year with my family and relatives. Earlier, I called my sister in New Jersey and had chat with my parents in New York. Then, we (my daughter, husbunny and ate anna) gathered in our grandfather's house and watched fireworks lit by our neighbors. We also had some fireworks ourselves but not as many this year as it had been in the previous years. We jumped and shouted. We ate the feast prepared by us and my aunt's. Talked with my cousin about books we have read. Then, I spent the rest of the time in front of my laptop reading. I feel quite content with the way things turned out so far.

I welcomed the new year with my husband and son (actually my son slept ). So we two were at home only, watching TV. It was quite cold here so we did not go out anywhere. Hope 2012, brings with it good luck and happiness for all.

Oh, that sounds fun, watching fireworks for the New Year. Where I live, we aren't allowed to buy/own/display our own fireworks for any holiday other than the 4th of July (U.S.A.'s Independence Day). I spent the day with my husband & our family. It was really quiet, as I'm afraid to leave the house after about 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve. I'm really glad that my husband respects this about me & that he is willing to stay home with the family on New Year's Eve. :)
