I think that most people nowadays are less polite or less courteous. Why do I think so for example in buses and Trains most men sit while women and the elderly stand sometimes even some with crutches are left to stand while others are comfortably and healthily sitting in there hind's. Young nowadays talk to elders disrespectfully, even to those elders that deserve respect. So is new blooming generation more inappropriate or has the times really required as to be that way????

If the person shows impolite to elder people, it reflects how uncivilized you are. It is sad to say, some young people are so impolite. Could it be a stage of growing up or not? In spite of having teenage crisis, it is not a good alibi of not giving respect to the elders.

I do agree with what you are saying. I have observed the same. Although there are still a couple of people who usually give their seats to the elderly, but its rare to find such nowadays. I have noted that the new generation have really changed and it really saddens me.

hi deodavid yes I see it too even here at Gold Crest. You start for a door and have it slammed in your face, I try to push my walker and open the heavy front door at the same time. Four men of varying ages standing around and none of them offered a hand but Jess he was there in a flash holding the door open so I could get my walker through and smiling and talkikng to me. One gentleman out of five men.And elevator courtesy is a thing of the past , People crowd in front of it and still expect us getting off to somehow miraculously fly over them and allow them on the elevator. aint gonna happen folks. they must step back and let us off.

Yes, I think that a lot of people are if not impolite, very snippy and kind of rude these days. For various reasons to say the very least. I think that these days, it is just a general domino affect that is going to fall a lot of times through society. Granted, let's not delude ourselves and say that it has just started with this generation. The fact is that every generation is worse than the one before. Granted, a lot of it is rather blown up, for people remembering the good old days, that were not only good. Hell, someone in their early twenties today, is going to see a huge generational gap between those teenagers now and those even five to ten years ago. A lot of things are being said and done. Of course, its only going to get worse. Then again, its not like the previous generations were some shining example, there are a lot of rude middle age and elderly people out there, but they somehow get a free pass, because they are older. Its a problem with every generation and every age group out there. There are polite ones and their are rude ones. Let's not just imagine its a problem only with the younger generation, in fact, I'd hazard a guess that your parents said the same thing about you, and their parents about them and so on.

i think there's more impolite person than impolite. but with myself, i'm not impolite. i respect my parents and friends and neighbors , etc. i'm not used to be disrespectful to elders. i can't even tell a lie to my parents . well, white lies though.

I don't know if it is possible to say this for all the world, but i can say that i live in Italy and my country is generally full of a lot of different kind of people. From very polite to very unpolite ones. Well I think it is like that in many many countries. Anyway in my place people were generally more polite than 40 or 50 years ago. I make this comparison after listening to the speaches of my grandparents and parents.

I tend to think that the internet has contributed to this. It requires us to move at light speed and encourage impersonality, so we take less time to learn social skills and courtesy. In my opinion, it has less to do with the generation than with the times.

I was standing on the bus stand waiting for the bus and when bus came people did not stand in queue and pulling and pushing each other to enter in the bus and women just standing outside and seeing what we all were doing and when all men came in to the bus they started entering in.

Jerks in this world are growing and multiplying at an outstanding rate, LOL! It pisses me to no end when I see this situation happening. I would then show those wimps the proper thing to do. I would offer my seat to the elderly. Then I let them hear me talk about how many wimps there are in the world today, that even frail little girls like me can do something that those wimps obviously has not even thought of doing! hahaha. One time, I ordered my boyfriend to stand up and let the lady sit. when he didn't, i called him a wimp and I started to rant about young people being inconsiderate and rude. LOL, haha, but then I'm probably one of those people.

Its maybe because people nowdays are more egoistic, selfish, etc (especially in big city) because the materialistic life style is becomes more and more popular, so people tend to ignored how to being nice, ignored hospitality, and more care just about their selves.

I don't know why, but it does seem that there are a lot more rude people any more. Younger people, especially, but there are plenty of older people who don't seem to know how to be polite and respectful.

I think it is getting more that way everyday...And it's the parents fault for not teaching the younger generation the rules of being polite!

It's seems people are more impolite and just downright rude these days. It seems like people go out of their way to be as rude as possible for all sorts of pathetic reasons. Why waste the effort to be rude and impolite? It is one thing if you have done something by accident, but it seems people are putting in the effort to be rude, probably to get attention. I don't know. There is not excuse for that behavior. Might as well take that energy and effort to be more friendly towards others, but we are so selfish these days. No wonder society is falling apart....

From my observation, I see that all the time whenever I am in the states (USA). The generation now days aren't being discipline. Parents are afraid of beating sense in their children because they might get locked up. So who is to blame? Legislature who passes all the laws on child abuse? They seem to disrespect their elders and like your post they have no compassion for the elderly, sick or disabled. I just want to wring their neck. If it were my child, I would beat their butts.

hello, deodavid, it's a sad fact but I would say yes. Yes because I find many teenage do everything they like without considering other, which is same age or elder than them. In my culture, the way we speak to elder people is different with the way we speak to same age, but nowadays those culture seems to be disappear slowly. some teenage speak rude, even to their mom.eastern was known with cultural people who is polite and friendly, but now almost there's no difference between the eastern and western..
