Today I took time for a girl's day out. I drove about a half hour and visited a friend that I have made online. Marsha32 lives near me. I went as her guest to a Quilt Guild meeting, and had a lot of fun.I would never go someplace like that by myself, as I think I am not a good enough seamstress and crafter, but it was really nice. We had a McDonald's lunch and spent the afternoon talking crafts, and computers and websites and talking about our families. Good to get away once in awhile. The Quilt Guild meeting also reminded me of things I have done in the past and I am hoping to get busy and do more crafting.

Girl you need some peace in your house. I am glad your daughter could help you out when you needed it, but this boyfriend of hers is the pits. It even ends up costing you money as well as your peace of mind.

absolutely. this one is hard to let go of and her brother, my oldest here, is also a softy when it comes to her. but its just like i tell people all the time. when you love someone, its hard to let them go but you have to weigh the means. like does this person bring you enough happiness to over look the pain? and at this point its not so. so if she goes she goes.

I have been to the Post Office, the pet store and then finally to the thrift store today. I needed to mail a few parcels for my customers, get some cat food and really just lurked and looked around for anything in the thrift store and didn't buy anything. I'm too worried about a possible health problem right now to buy much.

I sure hope you do not have a health issue. I stopped at Hobby Lobby on my way home and spent less than $5, part of it was for a snack, in fact. I worry too much about money, plus I am saving for a trip when my next grandbaby is born. My daughter lives a long ways from me.

Hi GardenGerty. This morning I had a Dr.appt. than I went to walmart to buy some baby things for my daughter, who is having a baby girl at the end of April. She lives 4 hours away from me. I do wish she would live closter. The rest of the day I washed all my inside and outside windows. My back was hurting so the rest of the day I just took it easy. Sounds like you had a great time.I dont do any crafting but it sure sounds like it would be fun.

Very, very cool. I'm hoping to get together with a few authors I've met online. It makes me a little nervous but I'm looking forward to it. Sounds like you had a great day and made a few plans for the your crafting future.

I think when we meet with friends with common interests it moves us along to get more things done. I was reminded of many interesting things I have made in the past, and inspired by the person who showed us her designs today. She even designs her own fabric lines.

I had a day out myself and now I am sitting here at this computer wondering what I need to do. I'm not happy with my earnings here, not really happy with my life right now. The day out just kind of riding was pretty good though, even if it's just ten minutes it's realxing to me as long as it's quiet. I am glad you had fun. I don't blame you for not wanting to go alone, I wouldn't want to either. I am not a crafty person myself, but would be interested to see or go to a class provided a friend accompanied me.

Yes, having some quiet time is always great. I have not earned well here in a while, but it is because I have not put the time in that I need to. I promised a friend I would start some new discussions, and so I am starting with this one tonight. When you went out riding did you get out into the countryside some? One of the jobs we are doing this year is cleaning a cabin at a lake whenever someone has rented it then checked out. I will go with hubby when it works out, and it is so nice to be in the trees and hear all the different birds.

I had a wonderful day yesterday as I managed to get some help cleaning up my house - every nook and corner. I could not believe my eyes to see the dirt that came out as the cleaning was going on. My house looks sp..ic and span on the outside and so it was unbelievable when I saw all that dirt! When was the last time you did your spring cleaning GG?

I never really get it all cleaned up. I have told hubby that tomorrow we are going to do some long postponed household things, and NO CAR piddling. If the weather is nice he could spend the entire day outside doing stuff to the cars, but will not get things done in the house. I keep reminding him that this house is where we will live when we retire and it needs to be nice. Of course, we may never fully retire. I did a lot of cleaning when my refrigerator was not working. We hauled it over to a friend to work on. I got to have a very satisfactory clean out then.

I went to my daughter school, after meeting with her teacher, I went to shop out of town next to our town with my male friend. He has a car so I ask him to if I can accompany him since he is along the way to the mall.

I went to carving class. I'm carving soap. That way, hopefully I won't get hurt. Tools aren't as sharp as for carving. What kinds of crafts are you doing?

I am wanting to get back into doing some sewing. Dresses for grandkids and really good hot pads and curtains, etc. Mending, of course. I like to make bags, I can never have too many. I am turning some placemats into purses. I have quilts and quilt blocks others have done that need to be finished, crochet to do, you name it. Soap carving can be really pretty. I hope you enjoy it.

I haven't been anywhere. I can't remember the last time I went anywhere. I have been in my room and rarely even leave it. Day after tomorrow we have an afternoon appointment and then may go have Chinese food. My daughter would enjoy the crafting stuff.

There have been times when I only wanted to stay at home. Hubby thinks that is bad for me, and encourages me to get out. I may post a link to the website of the lady who was a presenter. She sounds as if she has been incredibly lucky to use her talents and find businesses that let her do a lot of creative expression.

It must be nice to have a lotter near. Specially if you're friends, and share a few things in common. There's a few here who I don't mind living close to. I think it would be beneficial for them or me, life-wise. Today I was at work. I picked up the kids at work, and then they had to stay in the car for a few minutes as I had to go back to work. As a reward for behaving, I brought them to a donut shop to get their favorite raspberry filled donut-holes.

Taking a girl's day out means doing things that interest us, without husbands, boyfriends, kids or grand kids. It is a day when we do not expect to do much work, but lots of visiting and sharing of ideas. Like we traded some patterns for sewing projects among other things, yesterday. A guy's day out might enjoy going to play golf, or hunting or just watching sports on television. Guys take days out as well as girls. Quilt Guild is a fancy name for quilter's club. They have meetings, share snacks, bring beautiful work they have done and have someone come in and tell them new things. Quilting is an old art or talent, of combining several layers of fabric and stitching them together. You make useful and beautiful things that way. I do not know if that is something that you see much of in your country.

I am glad that you had a wonderful day with Marsha. It's really nice that you met online and from that meeting a friendship grew in the brick and mortar world, the offline world. I met you online and you have introduced me to Marsha. I believe that she helped me with one of my online sites. Was it Helium?

I will be going to New Orleans for the next AARP Convention, in September. I have never been and am looking forward to the trip. But before that, in June, I will be going to Boston for my 50th high school reunion. I have given up on Squidoo. I stick with Yahoo Voices, Helium and Triond. To answer your question, I was home until I went to work today and I have just come home from work. It feels good to work but if feels even better to come home.

I really didnt do anything today. I went to my dads work that other then thay i didnt go anywhere. My little girl was sick today so she didnt go to school. Then when my son was on his way home from school on the school bus he got sick all over him self. So looks like i will not be going any where tomorrow either lol. But it all worked out i got to spend time with my baby girl all day today and tomorrow i will get to spend all day with my baby boy. I dont like the way we get to spend time together though but i love my babies cuddling with me that makes for a great day no matter how ill the kids are when they dont feel good.

I went out to practice shuffleboard, and then I went to my bowling league. After that I shopped at a clothing store, but did not buy anything, and then I went grocery shopping. All this was just within a few miles of my home, however.

Oh gosh, I wouldn't be there at all if i thought you had to be good LOL I'm there mostly to learn, which I've done a lot of since joining. I always enjoy when you come to visit although I'm sure I just visit way too much! We jump from subject to subject and I'm not sure that we ever completely finish talking about one subject. I need to get in to the mood to do some sewing for sure....right now I am adding more squares on to my granny square blanket. Marsha

Sounds like you had a great day. Yesterday was pretty nice for me. I got a promotion at work so when I got off, I gathered the family and we went out to eat in celebration. I had a great dinner and a couple of mixed drinks and we talked and talked over dinner. I did miss my oldest daughter being there but she had to work. I might try to do something nice with her this weekend since we aren't doing the seven day a week thing right now. I would like to go to the art museum or something different this weekend. I have been overloaded for a while now and a nice break will be good.

Today, March 27, my 71st birthday! My friend, Becky, took me to Olive Garden for the Soup and Salad lunch which we both enjoyed tremendously. Then we went to Michael's Arts and Crafts store to browse and buy a few things to satisfy our 'crafty sides'. After Michael's, we went to Sunflower Market to get fesh fruits and veggies to last the coming week. Tired and happy, we returned home with our goodies and full tummies! It was a very nice birthday. God bless my friends and family who made it special.
