talking to yourself

I was in the Library this afternoon and the lady who works there was talking to her computer. So I asked her how the conversation was going and she laughed at me and said she always gets the right answers when she talks to herself. But this got me wondering how many people talk out loud to themselves? I know I do and Hubby does so does my daughter and son. Maybe it's just our family, but I think it's a lot more popular than that.

This is why I do better at taking online classes, because when I am studying and taking exams, I do talk out loud and it helps a lot. I can't seem to keep info if I read my lessons in my head, so I need a job where I can talk out loud, or work at home..lol

Oh math is the worse for me, because any distraction, causes me to forget what I am doing, and if I don't count out loud, (of course it is a soft whisper when I am in a room with other people) I get totally lost..

I have been staring to talk to myself a lot. I think it started since the final months of last year. I have no idea why but I talk to myself a lot and it got me worried. I talked to a friend who is studying to be a nurse but she says it's pretty normal to talk to one's self. But again, i read somewhere online and it said talking to one's self was the first step to getting mad If you have any actual stuffs about this please let me know coz I am worried actually :(

Really?? I talk to myself sometimes since I was kid and I am still sane, aware and know what I am doing~(^^) It is such kind of therapy from stress and pressure to talk to myself...hehe(^^) I think a step to getting mad is when we refused to talk with others and just talk to ourselves alone. Ha, that one I think we can consider as mad!(^^)

I am always talking to myself. It helps me to remember things many times. Most people do, just some, more than others.

I believe so! That it is more popular than that. Although no one would care to admit it, like me, a lot more people talk to themselves. I do. It is sometimes more reassuring to hear an idea, than just have it played on my head. Of course I make sure that no one is near to hear me blurt out something as it can be embarassing.

My danger and sweet husband mostly talk himself and I notice I laughed and ask on which topic you are talking yourself. But I have no such habit.

My husband and I do talk to ourselves outloud. Ann Landers did when she was alive. I think she was the one who said, "When you talk to yourself, you're assured of an intelligent conversation."

If you talk to yourself you may or may not get any sensible answers but at least they will be answers you can understand

Hi pat! You are definitely not alone! I talk to myself out loud and my bf does too! I think pretty much everyone does even though I don't know how many people will admit it or not. I lived alone for so many years I never thought about it! I also talk to my cats all the time, but at least they answer!

You are not alone. I am sure everyone has that habit talking to our ownselves. Sometimes it works sometimes we still need to hear it from others. I will only talk to myself when I do not want other people opinion or when people don't listen to me.(^^)

I am also guilty about this. I always talk to myself in public, mostly about anything, and then I'll just end up noticing that people are already staring at me.

No, I don't talk to myself to find the solution to my problems.Actually I can't do so.Talking to myself distracts my attention.I become self conscious and my mind stops thinking over my problems.I have never seen anybody talking to themselves to find solutions to their problems.May be it is possible to someone, but I can't talk to myself.

I have quite a few conversations with myself, if you walk a lot you would too, it's not a bad thing. I think it helps a lot for the mind, nothing bad can come from talking to ones self, most people who do are pretty happy and untormented

Oh, I talk to myself. I think you need to hear your thoughts, not just think them. It gives you two points of view in a way.

Yes I do talk out loud to myself at times. Sometimes my hubby says , what did you say and I say never mind I was talking to myself. But I also hear him also at times talking to himself when he watches his sports.

Hi savypat, Talking to oneself is very common and I find myself doing it a lot. There is always a constant chatter going on in our head and especially when we're alone, we're apt to be talking aloud. I have two cats and I often have great chats with them as well. Then there are the long walks that I've begun taking every morning, now that the weather is warmer - it's good no one is following me because I talk to everything I see. Sometimes I even stop and talk to the grass and flowers that are just beginning to peep out after their long winter's sleep. Many people would consider that talking to myself, that is those who wouldn't want me committed to a mental institution lol! I'd better end this before I give away any more secrets. Blessing.

Everybody does that. It happens when one is not sure of something and want an affirmation of what they are doing. When talking to oneself takes place, the thought comes out as voice and goes right back in and strengthens the thought. Insane as it may look, it is the sanest thing a body does in the face of an uncertainty.

It's normal talking to oneself. Sometimes it happens because of boredom and trying to figure out something. It feels embarassing when I can't contain my action and start talking to myself. hehehe Especially when there are a lot of people present. They think Im crazy or that i have an imaginary friend. hehe
