Are you a Patient person?

I will admit that patience is not a trait I've been blessed with much of. I am the sort of person who is jumping from one foot to the other in the queue, who is desperate to get onto the next thing, and doesn't take time to enjoy the moment. I'm trying hard to change! Are YOU a patient person? What sort of situations make you impatient?

I am not patient all the time. There are really times when I really don't have any patience at all. Like when I am waiting for my bf's call and I really know there is no reason for him to call me late, I really get mad at him and it will surely start a fight. which I know is not good because I also need to know his reason for being late. I am also not patient when I read novels, I really skip a few chapters or peak at the ending just to know what will happen . I am just not patient with these kind of things.

I could never cheat on a novel! That would spoil it. But I'll cheat at crosswords and number puzzles!

I use to be, but I've changed. I don't know why. My wife says it is the stress of our situation. Yesterday I yelled at her over something that before I would have had more control over. I need to get back to being patient. Stress or not my wife is a good person and didn't deserve that. It's good to always be patient. Rushing and getting upset at things will not help them.

I think we all lose patience when we're stressed. It's a shame, as we do tend to take it out on those closest to us, our loved ones and children. I am exactly the same, although my lack of patience is more with standing around or having to wait rather than with people.

Sometimes losing patience is a sign of old age, lol! There are studies that when people advances in age, the more they are affected in their mental behavior such as getting temperamental that easily getting mad at simple things. Patience is more of a mindset of having control of yourself, and holding on to your state of mind to understand and analyze each and every situation including family issues.

I have been told many times that I am a patient person, but like everyone I have found myself in situations where I begin to lose patience. One thing that challenges my patience is having to repeat something over and over.

I'm a pretty patient person, but I lack patience when I have to "do" someone else's job. LOL. The doctor is not my biggest pet peeve because they can't always figure out what is wrong with you without your input. Sometimes, however, diagnosing myself for the doctor annoys me. For example, What if I am wrong and I have some horrible disease instead of an ear infection?

Hiya GM, Takes the repetition of what I don´t like to see going on over and over to get me just a little bit hopping mad and then luckily I see the funny side of it. However I do have my Days like everyone else when you feel you are talking to the Brick Wall that is for example just this very morning. Reasons are personal but they know I am right. Even though they know I am right they will not move one finger to help solve the situation at all. What did I do? Bah just went on my own way after a bit of ranting to myself and got myself back into check again. It´s because I am right that they are not going to say yes lol ha ha ha.xxx

The mysterious they are not so far away and once I have put my mind to it I rarely back down not for love or money that is when they know I am there yes indeed but they still don´t like it. But I do have buckets of patience till they kick the bucket just a little too much like they have been doing the mysterious they I mean lol.xxx Well written GM you had me laughing before.xxx

Patience is a virtue, and i consider it as the one of the most important trait one should have especially if you have a seven sons, lol! Seriously, i consider myself being just on the average, as there are limitations that i set as to what extent i could be patient enough with any situation.
• United States
2 Jun 12
My mother use to always say that. Wow 7 sons. I couldn't even imagine that. You know the thing I've learned about kids is that they teach you more then you teach them. Do you find that to be true?
@GreenMoo (11834)

I can understand how having seven sons would teach you patience! There is a woman in my village who has 9, and I'm surprised she's still standing LoL

Yes, a lot of times i seem to look differently at things i used to do before after them expounding on those things, lol! The good thing about it, we as a family learn to cope up with each other's strength and weaknesses, and the fact that more than being a father, i am also a friend, a close friend.

I have a little of both inside of me. I can be patient when need be, but I do fly off the handle when need be. I try and look at every angle of a situation before I total go ballistic. But there are those times when I just go off and will not stop until I get total satisfaction.
@GreenMoo (11834)
7 Jun 12
Sometimes going ballistic, as you put it, helps to clear the air and makes me feel an awful lot better! But it's probably better to air grievances at the time than to bottle them up.

You see, the difference is going ballistic after you have looked at every possible angle is different then going ballistic right off the bat. To me going ballistic right off the bat is short lived and the anger will dissipate. But going ballistic after looking at all the angles is a lot worse. That anger will not pass quickly. So I don't like to get to that point. And the reason is that I will not stop.

Yes, I do consider myself to be quite patient, although there are times when I am very eager to do something in particular. I suppose this is something beyond our control, we are either born a patient person or we are not, it does not seem the type of trait that we can actually learn.
@GreenMoo (11834)

Actually, I think it's something that we can train ourselves to be. I just haven't the patience to try

Yes and no. I'm impatient for answers to my questions or ways to solve a problem and yet I waited more than half my life to be this happy! By just waiting I got the things and the people I needed! So the answer is yes and no.

Well, I define myself a very patient person, maybe too much! Now I'm years and years I'm waiting for my personal situation and that of my family better, but unfortunately, until now it was only a vain waiting! Many people say to me that I am one of those who expects from something that never happens. but I'm not absolutely agree with this opinion!

They say patience is a virtue, but I think it must be coupled with a willingness to make things happen as well otherwise you could wait in vain for ever.

That is exactly like me.I am really an impatient person,more so treating children.I know right well children are too young to know so many things.However,when I teach them or tutor them in something,I am very short-tempered .What I demand of them is often beyond their ability.

I'm patient in some areas of my life; and not on others. I guess I'm leaning more towards to being an impatient person. I agree that patience is a virtue. Being patient is also a talent. And I'm hats off to those persons who remain patient amidst difficult situations.

being patient is a very big matter . because in a every human being life their are certain situations to face which we have require a patient. although we are not interested to be patient but the situation is making us a patient because of some relations and economic related issues so we cannot bare this kind of issues. in my life in many cases i am so patient and it is useful for me in many ways in the future . because sometimes this will help us to elevate as a best person if the others recognise their mistakes . being patient is a talent , yes i agree with your view . so many people does not now how to be patient. if we does not maintain patient it will surely cause a damage in a few aspects of our life . mutual understanding helps us to develop a patient i think it

I am a very patient person. The ONLY possible exception to that is when I am dealing with someone who is clearly past their peter principle position. You know, that person who has no idea what they are doing, yet still wants me to think they are the cat's meow. I would just as soon walk away from that situation and I do not need anything that bad!

Impatience for me is pacing while I wait for someone who is late for an appointment...like the doctor or the cab that doesn't turn up when it's booked or the repair man or that phone call that doesn't interrupt what you are doing when you are waiting for it to do so....you get what I mean I reckon, it's why I carry a book or grab a magazine to read or I play a game on the laptop. I cannot wait for pages to load on the computer so I bring up a game of Solitaire. I guess you could say I don't miss out on the enjoyment of the moment because I can usually think of something to do rather than being cheesed off.

I am normally a patient person most of the time but lately with the nature of my work I seemed to be losing my patience most of the time these days. I have this supervisor who demands I give her a quick answer most of the time even when it's obvious I cannot do everything at once and follow up all clients all at once. Then there's that responsibility we have at work - all sales person must check emails even on weekends. There's basically no rest on weekends - I'd have to be online to respond to email inquiries and I spend half of my Sunday doing a weekly report which needs to be passed by 9am Monday morning. It's the demands from all sides that's bugging me big time. I am so looking forward to be able to relax and do the things I want at my own pace in 2 or 3 months after resigning. I cannot resign immediately as I still have to train the person who will take over my responsibilities.

People seem to think that I am a patient person. They see me deal with 'difficult' people on the floor, and deal with paperwork that encompass a lot of details. The truth is, I am very impatient. I just don't voice out my frustrations and disappointment most of the time, but I DO get frustrated and disappointed with people.
@GreenMoo (11834)

Hiding impatience is an impressive skill. I'm not bad at hiding it with people who deserve my patience, but as I get older I'm less willing to hide it when people are mucking me about.
7 Jun 12
Not in the slightest. I’m the most impatient person I know. I’m actually one of these people who puts my partner down [and apologizes for it, a lot] for being too slow. I’m the sort of person that will ask someone to do something for me, and because the person dared to pause for half a millisecond before getting up, I tell them to leave it and I’ll do it myself. I have no patience, and it’s so bad, that providing next day delivery is only a pound or two more, I will pay for next day delivery. It’s ridiculous. Especially considering I probably couldn’t even have afforded the item let alone the postage and packaging lol!

I am not sure in which category I would fit well. I used to be patient in the situations which I decided to be. Many would be impatient in that time and I would be standing so cool. Some time many would be so patient, I would just jumping in urgent.

My patience depends on the situation. It's not good when I'm being asked to hang around, but I'm pretty good with people.

Hi friend, patience is one of the good virtue that a man must possess in his life, we must keep patience to achieve a lot of things in our life, haste makes waste. We must do our important things carefully with lot of patience to gain good results. I have patience to tolerate a thing for a certain limit, if it crosses the limit, then i will become impatient.
@GreenMoo (11834)

I understand the importance of patience, but don't always have the self control to practice it.
