A friend of mine who worked abroad makes her life so easy in preparing food for his dinner. He's been away only few months, that's why he is still adjusting from being alone. He has a free lunch only he cooked for his dinner. The other day he caught me online and he ask me how to prepare for his cabbage the one he brought in the market, he wants to have a soup. So I told him how to cook for his soup. This morning he saw me again online and he told me about the soup he made the other day it was almost 3 days now. He told me that it really taste good actually he eat it for dinner last night the last drop of his cabbage soup. I said you still have it and eat for almost 3 nights? Have you tried to reheat food for 3x ?

Yes..living alone I don't like to cook alot so make some big batches of soup etc and then eat it all week....when I make something I really like it doesn't bother me to eat it for several days.

Yeah, sometimes. Because I'm so busy at the computer day and night I don't have time to even cook much. So if I make a lot of something I just keep eating it til it's gone. I'm a pretty good cook but I don't like cooking much. It doesn't matter to me what I eat as long as I like it and it fills me up. I do to try to eat mostly healthy stuff. But I manage to squeeze in some junk food at times. It's funny that your subject was about cabbage soup. That's one of my favorite kinds of soup. And these potato chips I'm eating are very good. But now I have a craving for cabbage soup. It seems like whenever I read your posts lately I get a craving for something.

I only take out what I'm going to eat after its cooked, so I only reheat twice. I will, however, often make many meals out of a big pot of soup.

I do feel the food is better the second time around but three is stretching it a bit. I sometimes freeze part of soup if I don't think we will use it all. I like it with corned beef and carrots. Maybe a potatoe or two. Cabbage can make great soups and has a good flavor. Fish tacos with the cabbage chopped and some thousand island dressing is very tasty.

We often eat soup or stew for three or more days in a row. In the winter it is wonderful to come inside and reheat soup that was made before. We use the microwave for this.

Yes, I have done that many many times - especially with soups. A lot of meals taste better on the 2nd or 3rd night.

Yes! Especially soups and casseroles. I agree. Seems like they are always better the next day or two...or three. The flavors have a chance to blend in more I think. I'm getting very hungry.

Sure I keep cabbage soup in the refrigerator for 3 days, but not reheating the whole pot each time. I only reheat as much as we can use each meal. Same with spaghetti. I do keep my fridge pretty cold. Usually I pour extra food into air tight containers and freeze it, though, and take each one out the night before we plan to eat them. I love cabbage soup. The last time I made it with sugar peas, onions, chicken broth, and kielbasa.

Sure when I make a big vat of my chicken noodle soup I live on that for as long as it lasts. My kids made short work of my left overs the other week. I may have to make bigger batches. I'd eat that stuff for every meal if I could!

Hi Ms. Hatley I did not try to put some tomatoes and green pepper but maybe I will try it also someday. I already tried celery soup but I put some ground pork and elbow macaroni.

I've never had cabbage soup either hatley, but I have had boiled cabbage and it's simply delicious. I remember the first time I had it it was intriguing to me but delicious, and I've only had it one other time since but still, quite delicious. Now celery soup is delicious as well, you just boil celery in a pot with water but say you cut up the stalk of celery, it's not good to put water over the celery, it needs to have as much water as there is celery so it's even and it'll be thick. I forget how I made it a few years ago, but a few years ago I was hungry and didn't have much food left in the house on a cold winter's day...

Hi ms. Bj, It is just it is normal for me to reheat food once, some left over food sometimes being recycled. My mother likes to cooked food everyday and me too. We normally cooked food and as much as possible we don't left anything to put on the fridge.

I think she may be referring to it being after three days, or maybe just cabbage itself. I imagine it wouldn't taste as good being reheated in a microwave.

Yes we have done this many times. HAHA. we usually cook a lot of food since we have a big family. There are times when the food is not finished so we reheat it for the next day. this is normal.

Yes I have, BUT... Not in the same container. That is to say that I dont' reheat a whole meal a few times but take a bowl or a plate and put some of the food I had prepared days before and microwave it, or maybe heat it on the stove. After the third day though and depending on the time of day I cooked it to begin with, I will throw it out. After three days it's not edible anymore, that is what I have always been told and that is what I have always followed as well. I honestly don't think I'd reheat cabbage soup though, atleast not in the microwave. Some things will "wilt" or not to taste as good (such as mashed potatoes) if reheated.

Corn soup - A casserole of corn soup for my guests
If it is soup it is best eaten when hot and fresh. And my favorite actually is corn or nido soup. I am not very familiar how to make cabbage soup. But I don't think I'd prepare soup more than I can't consume in one eating. It is just so easy to prepare soup anyway so why have it stocked and reheat. And besides if it is cabbage soup then that means the cabbage would be so overcooked and so all the nutrients are practically destroyed the moment you reheat that.

For me, I will only reheat food once. However, there are plenty of times that I will cook a really large dinner and then I will package the leftovers into individual packages so that I can reheat them as I need them. I would like to think that this is what your friend did. However, if it isn't what he did, I think that next time that you catch him online, you might suggest that he try packaging his large meals into individual packages and then he might be able to mix up his meals more while not cooking all the time either.
