I hate going into work and the minute I walk in the door they already telling me about all the stuff that needs to be done. Just hold your horses, can't you see I still have my purse in my hand and my jacket on. I'm not even clocked in yet and they already on me like flies on shiiiit. I always get there about 20 minutes early cause that's how my bus runs and I like being early so I can have some coffee and chill before work. Do you get hit with work before your shift even starts?

As long as I arrive in the office, I started my work. That's a damn experience I had before when I was still working. But last 2 years I came to our office 5 minutes before our work start so that I cannot start very early.

I don't like getting there at the last minute, some people get there right before they need to start, I like to have a little time before I start

Before I retired,I always gt to work 30 minutes early, and I used this time to relax, have my breakfast, read or check my e-mail.My coworkers and clients knew better than to interrupt for business reasons. That was MY time, and I made sure that everybody knew!!!Just tell them that they are seeing things, that you are not really there, and to come back at the starting time of your day!!!!

oh dear missybear same here. We can come and go as we like the only responsibility is to do our work and to do the monthly hours as laid down in the individual contract. As I commute for 4 hours to work, when I get there I clock in first and then go to my desk but sometimes this happens here as well, as soon as I am there still with my jacket on, and worse, still badly needing the restroom because of the long commute. Grrrrrr.

This is exactly how my job is. Before I can get in and clock in they are handing me papers, and lists to complete. I have the entire shift could they not wait, and even when I start doing one job they start interuppting me and handing me more papers.

Missy, some company seems just don't have proper working hours. I remembered one of my former companies had this same type of working attitude. My ex-colleagues seems unable to see me relax even for a few minutes. Once they saw my face, they would report all types of problems and asked for my solution. Sometimes i felt bored that i would spend some time relaxing at a nearby coffee-shop, drinking and having my breakfast without any interruption. I think you should start escaping from them some time, so you won't feel too stressful.

I guess I'm lucky that this never happened to me. There are times though when I get in early and I start working. I don't charge for the extra time. If ever this happens to me though, I'll be pissed. Especially if it happens everyday. I mean, if it were really urgent, how hard could it be to wait until I get settled? since I would still need to settle in right? so it's just the same time. Some people just can't wait to remove something off their plate and pass it to other people

Sometimes I do things without clocking in but we're not supposed to, if we have an accident and we're not on the clock we don't get paid

Hi, missybear I do understand how you feel. I always experience to be in that situation almost everyday and that is really annoying. I also arrived at work early because my service leaves at 5:25 in the morning so I arrive at work around 6:30 in the morning. My duty starts at 7am. I often bring my breakfast in the office and have some coffee as well. But this morning, I haven't even put my bag down, one of our engineers came to me and told me to scan some documents. He was holding a sandwich and I could see that he's having his breakfast in his table. I know that I am the only person in our office that has scanner in my printer but I still find it annoying. I asked if it was urgent as I ALSO WANT TO EAT MY BREAKFAST. What makes me irritated is that he told me it is some personal documents that he needed for his personal travel and he needs to email the PDF copy that morning. To my disappointment, I tuen my computer on and told him to scan his own documents.

That's bad. I also experienced being told about doing this or that upon entering the office but not always. It happened only when there are things to be done because our supervisor will travel and there are things to be finished before she leaves.

This is so rude. I would be livid. At least let you get in the door and sit down before you get hit with all these people asking for help. Don't they realize how rude they are being?

My work load is already waiting everyday so just thinking of it makes my mood turns bad.But of course I still need to go to work for it is my tasks. I just be thankful that I have those funny and joker office mates and I can't help but too excited with our meal break for that was the only time that we can mingle and talk non sense things and really have fun times.

I do understand missybear how it feels going through a hectic day.But I would like to say to all you people who hate working that unless you work , have busy schedules etc. ,you can't probably enjoy a holiday. At least I miss those busy, boring lectures at college now.

sometimes i do but now that my former boss is semi retired and i got a new boss, not so much. however, the former boss often brings me something to do at like 20 after 12 (i work from 8:30am-12:30pm) or gives me something to do and needs it done like yesterday (i work as a receptionist/secretary). sometimes that becomes to be a little much. as for before, it is me that puts the pressure on me because i always think of stuff i need to do.

Lots of times they page me when I have my lunch to go and do something, I tell them "Second shift started already so ask them", I think sometimes they forget that after noon there is another person working with me.

No, but then again I don't get there early. Is there a shop nearby where you can have your coffee and chill before work? That way you can avoid all that crap before you clock in. Just a thought...

Hello missy bear. It is sad to hear this as I remember that things at Ubisoft for instance were different. No one would ask you to do anything before your time schedule started - if it is 8 or 9 then they asked you stuff, but if it's before you could enjoy your tea or coffee while browsing the internet.

I should really just stay downstairs at the cafeteria but they don't serve anything until 7am so no sense on sitting there.

That happens when you get there early. I used to get to my nursing job early, and when all hellll was breaking loose, I might clock in to help them if asked by the supervisor… however, I am not obligated. I could just as well tell them, I’m having my coffee till time to clock in. It might sound mean, but I will have my own 12 hours to work, and no one will help me. I would rather let them get their shift over with before I start mine. If it’s just 15 to 20 minutes that I’m early, I won’t help, because that isn’t going to benefit me much. However, if I am an hour or more early, I might be tempted because then I would be getting over $18 an hour with overtime.

I usually tell them to hold on till I clock in but if it's really important then I just clock in and get a little extra money, it's just funny that most of the time it's nothing important and could have waited another 20 minutes

Oh, how I hated that too!! The worst part of the scenario was that I was doing the work and not even clocked in. Of course. if I were to clock in then the boss wouldn't like it because I was getting in too much time. He worked salaried, so it was all right for him to leave early if he wanted too, because he'd leave the work up to me.
