Harward scientists have made a test with prematurely aged mice and reversed their aging and even their schrunken brains!! 2009 three scientists got a Nobel Prize for discovered the telomeres that schrink when we get older, and the enzyme that builds them back. I got a news letter from Dr Al Sears where he offers a report about foods that can build these telomeres back - it was not so expensive, so I might buy it and see what he says.. If it really were possible for us to live for many hundreds of years, would you be interested?? I would definitely prefer the solution that the Bibe gives us - possibility to live for ever in a paradise without wars and selfishness. Your thoughts??

That's scary. I wonder... if a food or foods could build back brains and so on, would it not also build tumors and so on? Or what else is in that Pandora's box? No, I would not want to live hundreds of years on this earth the way it is now. Like you, I definitely prefer the solution in the Bible. I will live with the Lord; forget this world of wars and famines and anger and selfishness!

I can understand you, nobody wants to live in a world that looks like this one today. But there is hope, and we will not need expensive stuff to get young again. Our Creator has a plan for this earth, and he has told us about it many times. "..evil-doers shall be cut off; But those that wait for Jehovah, they shall inherit the land. 10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and he shall not be. 11 But the meek shall inherit the land, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."Psalm 37 (American Standard Version) According to the Bible, we live very close to this time. Let's continue studying the Bible and praying for wisdom to keep the hope alive.

It is said that the number of times of our body 's cell division is predetermined by the telomeres and the more the number of times of cell division, the longer our lives are.It is unconceive if everyone lives to several hundreds of years. If so,nobody can solve the problem of population explosion and the problems that come in the train of it.

Hi, chang Yes, the telomeres get shorter every time the cell divides or becomes renewed - I think..??em]rolleyes[/em] This enzyme, telomerase, they talk about seems to make them grow back again, but we don't exactly how long it would go on.. According to the Bible, God gave the human beings the privilege of having children and become many and fill the earth, not overpopulate it. I am sure He would have a solution to avoid any problems. When this first assignment would be fulfilled, we don't know what the next thing would be. We learn about God's plan to restore the humans to what He meant from the beginning and if we live for ever, He for sure has something in mind to avoid overpopulation. If you would like to read a Bible in modern English, or in Chinese, you will find one at jw.org - It would be interesting to know if you find some literature in your own language or dialect there - please tell me if you do!!

Well, there are many atheists in the world and lots of ex atheists. I did a search on the site I mentioned before and found the following article. You might be interested on what reasons some have to believe in a Creator. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/s/r1/lp-e?q=atheism (the site seems to work well in Firefox) Have a great day..

By your leave,I differ with you on this matter, because I am an atheist .In my opinion, there is no something supernatural in the world. We can rely on nobody but ourself as to what happens to us.In addition,no man expects immortality.

I was reading about a guy in India who is in his 90's who just had his second child by a woman he married some time back when she was in her 50's. So I don't know how long he is going to live, but it seems he is having a good time. My friend here in the US is almost 94 and he plays golf almost every day and is still a good driver in his automobile. We "winter" in a private community where about 400 people live and get unlimited free golf which about 80 people actually play on a regular basis and in last year's play 4 of them were in their 90's. Actually, a year or so ago my friend competed in an 18 hole golf tournament for the age group "90 and up." Is that cool or what? I don't think anything in the Bible contradicts the idea that we could live hundreds of years and the Bible does have some tips on what kind of food to eat and some behaviors that prolong life. I am all for it!

First, don't waste your money on that newsletter. There are hundreds, if not thousands, out there that claim the same thing and I should know--some of them hire me to write articles about their stupid schemes, playing on peoples' fears of dying or sickness to tout the latest fad in vitamins or food combinations or new products. I think the only people who really want to live forever are those afraid of dying. I would hate to live forever on this world, trapped here away from my Father who loves me. This life is only one step in the journey and why would I want to be stuck here? I look forward to my exit and pressing on to the next step!

Well, the newsletter is free.. but the report costs a little but I believe this info might be available on the net soon anyway.. Maybe I'll wait and see. If we think of the first paradise, we can read about how Adam communicated with his Heavenly Father. The Bible tells us that the whole earth will become a paradise, and one day in the future, it is God's plan that all his heavenly and earthly children will be very close to Him. I love these verses from Isaiah's book: "6 And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea."Isaiah 11 (American Standard Version)

That`s something to think about. Should we want to get rich enough as to pay for those enzimes or should we dream about becoming eternal mice? As for me, I accept my life as it is, thinking that probably it is the best for me. I would not want to live eternally here and I would not want to have so much money that I could dream anymore.

- I would not be an eternal mouse either!! If we had the possibility to live for hundreds of years, it would not be worth to get these enzymes if we still had to live with all the evil that happens on earth. But this science gives a hint that we could live forever.. If the Bible is telling the truth, the earth will be cleaned from all evil and be a paradise. That would be worth to live for, even for ever! I think the human brain teaches us something interesting. It could work forever! What a capacity - no computer can be compared to that! - Work of an evolution? I don't think so... Well - better do more research..

Hi, Maggiepie Yes, we see so much evidence around us that it is easy to believe in a Creator. I think not many want to live forever in the world we see now, full of violence, where most ignore the will of God. Jesus taught us to pray: "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:10 (King James Version) God will listen to this prayer and make our earth to a wonderful place with only good people. I think Daniel 2:44 gives a great hope: "...in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." (King James Version) To get the whole picture it can be good to read the whole chaptere. Yes, let's look forward to what God will do for all mankind in the future!

I would like to live longer and to reverse aging. This is because there is a lot that I would still like to do that I haven't been able to do. And now with the experience that I have gained, I am more equipped to do it if only I looked younger and had the prospects of a longer life. It is not that I am in bad health or anything but my face in particular shows my age because of sun damage so I would like to have that reversed and to be more assured of living longer and be healthy while doing it.

Yes, many of us would love to develop our talents, but we also need a peaceful world do so. I found an interesting article on this subject: http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2004841?q=eternal+life&p=par The older I have become, the more I appreciate the promises in the Bible of a new age that seems to be very near, as we see the prophecies being fulfilled in front of our eyes. Let's keep studying and doing research, as this hope is real..
