I got 2 calls about jobs today

I had a phone interview for a full time position that I think went fairly well. She is forwarding my resume onto the hiring manager in the city I live in for consideration. Hopefully I hear something from the hiring manager about a face to face interview soon. The second call I got today was for a part time seasonal position. It would only last till the end of the year, but I have a job that starts the second week of January so it might work out. I have a face to face interview with them tomorrow afternoon. I am kind of excited to get 2 calls in one day. I was getting frustrated because I had been applying to all sorts of jobs and not gotten any real leads. Do you find searching for a job frustrating? Do you start to lose hope when you don't get calls back right away?

Congratulations! When job hunting you should get paid for filling out applications. I find it real discouraging when they tell you that they will let you know in a week. You wait around for a week and usually I'll call them to see if they went through my application. They'll say they have decided yet, so I call back a few days later and get the same old thing. What's even worse is I've applied for clerks positions and they tell me at the interview that I'm over qualified and that when they have a managerial position available they'll call me, which they never do.

I know I am over qualified for the seasonal job, but since it is seasonal I am hoping they will not hold that against me.

Yes and yes. I had an interview on Saturday that I never heard back about. I was certain it would be a sure thing based on my skills. They wanted someone with no experience, which I don't have, but I do have the knowledge. What could be more perfect? Well, there were a bunch of pretty, skinny girls in the office, they're probably looking for young and pretty.. I'm neither, LOL. I guess I had held off on applying at more places because I was pretty confident I'd get that job. So now I'm frantically searching again. In 2 weeks they're moving me to another bank and I'll have to start working Saturdays, which interferes with way too much. My kids are all in sports and they always do their games on Saturdays.. and I got them into it knowing I didn't work Saturdays.. so this is just a big PIMA!

I was wondering what had happened with your interview. I'm sorry you didn't hear back from them. I am sure you would have been great a the job. Having to start working on Saturdays when you had planned your life around having them off has got to be hard. Especially with 5 kids.

Well that's a great news to start your day.At least all your effort in applying is worth it now.It is really frustrating and dismaying if no any feedback once we do applied in a certain jobs.I experienced it before too which made me think if their is something wrong with resume that I send or why I am not fit in that certain job position. Wish and hope you good luck to get the job.Think positive and believe.

Congratulations, and good luck on your upcoming interview. You are so lucky to have the calls. I know exactly how it felt when you are job hunting and it's been a long time since an interview was arranged for me, all the frustrations and the anxiety just start to creep in. But I can also fully remember how it felt when the hiring manager offered you the job and how, in a matter of hours, you're in! I always tell myself that if more than two weeks passed and I receive no calls, I would consider my application as declined. Although there are a couple of companies which called me after a month.

The full time one that called me today I had applied for about 3 weeks ago. I didn't think I was going to get a call. I was pleasantly surprised.

Personally, I think that is about the luck of most people. Going from unemployed with no job, and then all of a sudden getting phone calls from people interested in possibly hiring you. It can be a Good thing as a leverage in how you decide from there which job(s) are best suited for you. Wishing you all the Best.

Last time I was job hunting I got 2 jobs in 2 days. I ended up working both of them for 10 months. I kept the second one for 2 1/2 years. It was just not the job for me, so here I am on the search for a job again.

Yes, I find it very frustrating. I hate to admit it, but I would lose hope whenever I didn't get calls back right away. Like you, I was applying to lots of jobs. Out of them all I only wound up getting a few interviews. And although I did get a couple of job offers out of them, neither of them worked out. Needless to say I started to think I'd never find a job! I started to feel the same way with my last interview (which was held on a Friday). I was told by one of the interviewers that only those that got the job would get a call on Monday. I felt great about the whole thing...until Monday morning came along. After that I started losing any hope that I'd get the call. I did my best to keep myself occupied at work. By the time 11 o'clock came along, I thought for sure that I didn't get it. Shortly after that my cell phone rang. I knew instantly that I got the job! So after all that frustration of searching and applying for jobs, I finally got one. And not just any job, but one I can be proud of too. Anyway, I hope all goes well and that you get at least one of those jobs. Good luck! Happy mylotting!

You're welcome lilybug. And thanks. I know that feeling all too well. My favorite instance though has got to be when an interviewer said that she was going to set up a second interview and would give me a call. Of course, the call never call. Oh well, it's just as well it didn't work out. I'd much rather work for the company that hired me anyway.

I am glad to see your job hunt worked out for you. I think the only feeling worse than not getting a call for an interview is thinking an interview went well and you never hear back from them and don't get the job. Thanks for the luck!

I am crossing my fingers for you. I hope you get both jobs! The first time I applied for work, I got accepted the same day after tons of tests and interview. I really didn't have to apply to a lot coz actually, I was half-hearted in looking for a job that time.

Its been a long time since I had to job hunt. When I did I filled out apps and thought everyone would call....not so. I ended up being off work for 6 months....that was 27 years ago...I would hate to try to start over again now...so glad you got the job!

I am hoping for one of them, but heck if I can work out both of them I might just do both. The one is only till the end of the year, so it shouldn't be too hard to do both.

That's great that you got the calls. I am employed but I can imagine the frstration that people are feeling right now. There are jobs here now but they aren't the jobs that used to be here. Good jobs have been replaced by lower paying jobs. Good luck with the search!

I already experienced that after my graduation in college. I want to have work immediately at that time. So I always went outside and find a suitable job for my course. But then, I always been rejected every time I attended some interviews. One friend of mine, told me that I should be prepared every time I attend an interview and not just to attend on it because of the essence of applying and looking for a job.I thought for it and she was right. I should be prepared always before I attend and look for a job so that I will not be failed anymore.
