I went in for my first day at my new job today. It was only to fill out paperwork and watch some training videos, so I was only there 3 hours. I got back in tomorrow. I had to fill out so many papers! I am not used to writing much anymore so I was getting a writers cramp. I wish employers would just put everything on the computer. It would make life so much easier. Ever get writers cramp filling out paperwork for a new job? Do you spend much time writing now that so much is done on computers?

Congraats! Where are you working? I hope you enjoy it. I know filling out those paperwork is so painful, especially since I usually type everything out. I did it 3 months ago, and all the government paper work had to use to old brain.

I am working as a cashier at a place called Big Lots right now. Nothing like the pay I am used to making, but it is something. I will be working at a tax office come January.

At least it's something for the time being, I know I am not at the amount I use to be but I am trying. But every little amount helps, especially with the economy we have.

You should see me on the first day of school when the kids are bringing home all their emergency cards. Not to mention, for some strange reason, the school hasn't figured out how to copy the information so it can be in 2 locations, one in the office and one in the nurse's office. Instead they make parents fill out 2 copies of each form per child!!

Congratulations lilybug on getting the new job. I would have thought that everything would have been filled out online these days. Seems a little antiquated, don't you think? No, I do not spend much time writing like I used to. My handwriting has deteriorated too

Just as you say, computers make our life and work much easier, and we can nearly do everything by computers. but to tell the truth, I don't like work on computers. I think it will do harm to health.

Oh yes, the dreaded paperwork you have to fill out when getting a job! It's bad enough filling out all the information just to apply for a job, then more paperwork after you're hired! But at least you got the job, so be thankful for that!

I think filling out the forms is the most painful activity on the first day in any job. With us not used to doing too much writing it does get a bit crampy as you mention. But often the pull of the new job and the enthusiasm carries the day through. Cheers! Ram

I think every employer has to have stuff like that on record with your signature so if something happens they have the forms to back up what they say...

Congratulate you on getting new job! I have seldom written on the paper since I had a computer. You know ,over here we pay attention to calligraphy of Chinese character from childhood.I had a good handwriting before ,especially the calligraphy of the writing brush.I am afraid they are all rusty.

That's your job so must deal with it whether you like it or not. All jobs are not easy to begin with but i guess in time you will be used to it. Just be grateful that you have a work for now. Wishing you good luck!

Hi lily! Be thankful for your new found job. Not everybody is as lucky as you are. Some look for jobs but to no avail. Consider that particular activity as part of the training.

just be thankful that you have a job and others don't. and your job is easy, your lucky you don't have a huge responsibility on the company. that would be a headache. if they will have computers, they wouldn't hire you. so be thankful and goodluck.
