Starting to get frustrated!

I have not been able to stretch my money as far as I need it to go in the last few months. As some may recall I left a pretty decent paying job because of stress and I took a lower paying, much less stressful job. That job was only supposed to be until after Christmas, but fortunately my boss asked me to stay on. I start another seasonal job as a tax preparer next week, so I will be working both jobs for now and it should help out with the bills doing both. It will be a few weeks before I have money coming in from the other job though, so right now I am just stressing out!! I borrowed money from my mom to cover some bills last month, but that is long gone. Fortunately my landlord is pretty good about my being late on the rent or I would be in real trouble. I get my tax money back soon, so in about a month I will have plenty of money. Again....just stressing for right now. How often do you stress about money? Does it seem to consume you? I feel like the last little bit of time before more money starts coming in seems to be the longest time ever.

Me stress about money....:) always! I live on a very limited income from Social Security and I have to be very careful with my spending. If for some reason I overspend, which I don't often do, I have to wait until the 3rd of the month to see any money. That's why sites like mylot are so important to me. When I'm broke I usually have a couple of dollars in my paypal account to hold me over.

I do catch myself trying to spend money when I shouldn't because I am used to making a whole lot more money than I am making right now.

I don't stress about money anymore. I know that our family is doing well and we will continue to grow and be better. I'm not stressing because I am finding I have a little bit left over every week. Creating a budget, following a weekly menu plan (eating rice and beans) and living like no one else, so later we can live like no one else is going to be our saving grace. Worrying and stressing about money will not help anyone, but having a happy heart and a positive attitude is what will attract the things you want and need in life.

I am glad to hear that your family is doing well and has money leftover every week. I know that stressing about money does not help at all, but it is a hard habit to get out of.

Sure we need money to live and even Dave Ramsey suggests we keep a little out for entertainment each month. I have a budgeted amount for everything and our entertainment is watching movies. I tell the kids to look for dvd's that have at least 10-15 movies on each dvd. Yeah, we are in the poverty level as far as income goes, but we still find a way to survive.

I'm sorry. I don't know how it feels to be responsible for others and needing money. But I know what it's like when it's just me. It's a very alone feeling, and hard not to panic. I'm glad you have your mom. I'm thankful that I have my dad. And a very good friend who is always there as well.

My sister helps me out as much as she can as well. It is good to have people you can rely on to help out when you really need it.

I hope things fall into place for you soon...I am past that stage where I have to worry about money much.....I remember though when I was raising the kids how sometimes when I was short...it was stressful. It seems funny but everytime I was short something would happen to carry me over....like someone would order a batch of cookies that I used to sell...or a check would come in the mail for overpayment on insurance or something like that....hang in there as soon you will be back on track! Are you still selling your toffee?

Yep, and the toffee is the only thing that got me through December really. I made several hundred dollars last month. This month is pretty slow with the sales though.

I'm starting to feel better now, but the last few months were stressful. We fell behind on the bills basically when school started and the cats started racking up some vet bills. Then I had to figure out how we were going to catch up on the bills and do Christmas. It was tough. Christmas wasn't as good as what we're used to. Hubby and I didn't even get anything for each other, not one single thing. We also didn't end up getting anything for the kid's teachers. It was tough. Without Christmas and other dumb stuff, it's getting easier to focus on catching up on the bills. I don't really want to spend our entire tax return on bills. I was hoping this year to put some into a savings account to help us through the rest of the year if things get rough. I thought we'd been doing good too. I used our paychecks this week to pay our power bill, and I was trying to save some towards next week's bills as I don't get paid next week, just hubby does. But then last night we ended up eating out which ate up some of that money and I feel guilty now.

I used most of my paycheck Friday to pay the electric bill. Now I still have to worry about paying the internet bill and the gas bill.

Very stressful especially if you have kids... Well, money is always been a few since I was born. I learned how to saved money when I was in college and until now, however, I still do spend when it comes to my kids. I cannot resist them to buy something particularly when we go visit to my friends and my kids saw a toys that they really like. My heart hurt seeing them felt like envious or something.

I have 2 kids. If it was just me things would be easier, but I have to make sure that I have money for the things that they need as well.

It's such a rough life to get through. I understand how you feel and yes, it's very stressful. Right now I'm on SS so it's ok...I don't make a ton of money but I can live on it. I had to take an early retirement because I lost my job. But I do understand the stress involved with jobs, and the stress involved with NOT finding a job. I don't make a lot of money on SS, but I can get by on it, so I don't want to complain. My daughter is going through the same thing right now. She's looking for a much less stressful job, but I'm worried about her. The loss in pay is sometimes just as stressful, so where is the middle point? Good luck to you with your new jobs...I hope they all work out!

That is a good question. I don't know which is worse, the stress of a job or the stress of money from not having the stressful job. In my case I think the stress of not having enough money right now is less than the stress I was going through at my last job. Good luck to your daughter!

Most people get stressed by their finances at least some of the time. However, you cannot let the stress consume you. Otherwise, you will end up being caught up in a sea of powerlessness, and you will find yourself drowning. I try not to focus too much on our financial obligations (including my mountain of student loan debt). If I did, I would be so stressed that I likely would not be able to function--and that would be counterproductive.

Hi There Lilybug....I am back,, who knows for how long! I have stressed many times over money.... I look back on it now... stressing never helped me get money... if anything it made me sick.... I know you have probably heard it a million times,, but everyting will work out... it all just takes time... I too was blessed with a landlord a while back,,, he waited for the rent longer then any relative ever would have... what a blessing he and his wife were to us... When ya get your income tax check try and pay up all the bills,, and pay them in advance as far as you can. Louise

Well, I had to resign from my well paying job due to illness but thank God that I stil have a part time job. I have stressed over money for many years especially getting my daughter through university. I stil stress but somehow I manage. My children are in mega debt over my surgery and I try to manage on my small pension plus what I earn from my part time job. I do not owe money on my house or car and keep up with insurance policies and have partial health benefits. Having my son living at home helps as he pays almost 80% of all bills or even higher. But I try to be frugal. It is important even if you are not earning a great deal of money t save a little each month and forget about it. Try not to worry too much my dear - you wil get through this bad patch. many blessings

You and your son are very fortunate to have each other to lean on. He is helping financially and you are helping him with raising the twins. I am glad that you have him around to help you out. I know things will get better. They might get worse fist, but they will get better.

I always have the same problem monthly. Specially now that my husband will be retiring from his work because of some problems in the company. So I am trying my best to earn money from online works. Hopes I could be able to know the proper strategy that would give me higher income.

It is nice that you are able to make around $100 extra online each month. I wish I was able to make that much money online, but I just don't have the time. Most days I only have time to come here for a few minutes if that much.
