What's your theme?

I've noticed that we have a lot of "theme posters" here. For example, one person mostly posts about travel, another about online earnings, another about cooking, etc. Myself, I mostly post about things that are happening in my life. Easy for me to come up with a discussion idea when it's something that's actually happening to me. "Write what you know", so to speak. On the other hand, some people here post about pretty much anything under the sun. How they get so many ideas, I sure can't fathom it. So what about you? Are you a theme poster? If so, what's your theme? Why that topic? If not, where do you get your ideas?

I haven't even though of a theme. I guess whatever relates to me. ME! I post questions at this point, as I am still new to Mylot. Still trying to figure it all out. I do appreciate that people post about themselves, like you do, dawnald. We are all people and it's great to be able to connect with other people. I have learned a lot about others on Mylot. And thus, have learned a few things about myself. :) Sometimes, my mind goes blank when I get on Mylot but I have thought of a lot of things to ask and post when I am NOT on the computer. I should write them down. :) Where do I get my ideas? They just seem to pop into my little ol' head but now, to remember them... that's another whole issue. Have a great day, dawnald.

When I think of a good topic, and I'm away from the computer, I try and get on my phone and e-mail a reminder to myself, otherwise I forget.

Maximax is the travel poster! As for me, whatever pops in my head I guess. I do associate one poster with cats and Doctor Who.

Yep, she is. Then there's politics, frugal living and s*x, though those last 2 aren't around any more.

I never think of things to post. They are really just slices of my life, so to speak. I stay away from politics and religion usually even in answering so I suppose that I am really theme-less. I do use mylot to vent sometimes (well -frequently, if I am honest) I don't do stress well at all and life has become so stressful lately. As to where mylotters get their ideas from always amazes me. What a variety of people we have here!

Yes, some days it's really interesting. Now, as to you. You are not allowed to have another stressful year, so you will have to find yourself another theme!!!

i like cythiann's discussions, just like i like yours, dawn. i think it's because of the way you see things which reflects the way you write about them. if i don't post anything in them, it's because everyone else has said what it, but i did enjoy reading them for the chuckles, the misty eyes and the food for thought they gave me.

I think I know those theme-posters you've mentioned... Would "venting" qualify as a theme? I wouldn't say I just type up discussions so I could vent whatever is troubling me, but I do post a few things that I have trouble wrapping my mind around. I would like to post a discussion about how I'm so much behind in my notifications here, and how much I would like to catch up, but I think that would be counter-productive.

I actually did post a discussion about how far behind on my notifications I was. Venting could be a sub-theme under "Dawn's life" along with: Relationship issues Medical stuff My children Work Funny things that happened to me Places I visited etc.

"venting" just made me think of "inventing" and i think when we post a discussion or respond to it, we're also "inventing" in that we're all trying to see it from different angles. "creating a scenario" as a discussion or response is also "inventing," but in a positive way because we're considering all possibilities. that includes the silly and the serious and in-between. i guess what i'm getting at is mylot can help you be more open-minded, uhm, even if you're minding or eavesdropping on other people's business.

Um, since I don't post discussions I guess my theme would have to be uh, nothingness. I suppose if I had a theme I might be able to make a discussion. But, then again, maybe not. I'm themeless.

I really don't have a theme when i post. Usually, i posts about some things i observe , what i feel and what i experience. Mylot is a site where i can express and outpour whatever it is that comes into my mind and being.

Good topic! however I am stuck by your question. You know,I have started few discussions here on mylot, not to mention having theme with my own characteristics.I fall in with your views ,there are indeed all kinds of theme posters here.It is exactly what is called "the style being the man".But then, there are not a few who don't write what they know but brave it out writing what they don't know well.

I'd like to think my "theme" is 'self-empowerment.' I think that was Jesus Christ's message---that 'Our Father gives us everything to deal with, so He trusts us with it.' That's one way Christians make me sick ... claiming G*d 'gives us all this power,' but "relying on Him to-shelter us from the storm, -kill off the weeds that we-ourselves plant -everything short-of/including wiping our ... noses when we get a sniffle."

i do wish i were as passionate as others about one or two particular thing, but i guess i'll never be an all or nothing person! it can get boring reading the same topic so that out of 10 they put out, only one or two catches your attention, and out of two, one might trigger a response. might. i think the way you write is also a theme in the sense that it reflects what you think about the topics, not just the topic itself, so that you can make the silly serious and the serious silly. and, well, most of us are ordinary folks living simple ordinary lives, trying not to worry too much about the future, so we tend to relate more to everyday topics and how to make it funny for a while or see beneath the surface now and then. i know i like posters like you.

Early on I tried to post things that were really unique, and they got little attention. (Course I wasn't "famous" back then.) Then I found my comfort zone, which was writing about myself mostly. You are right, people tend to gravitate toward things they can relate to. Thx for the vote of confidence.

When i make discussion i always consider the learning the users may get... Actually even when responding to some discussion. Sometimes i share some personal experiences but not too private ones. Since it is experience definitely people will learn from it too.

Although I do sometimes learn things from discussions, that's not really something I consider when posting. I just get things off my mind, basically.

Theme poster.. I am not sure what that really means. But I would post things that are not to personal but enough for people to help relate and give feedback to help make the situation i'm in or anything to be voiced and responded. I would talk about school.. School is a major part of my life and i hope to own my own bussiness and become a managaer of a company that recycles :)

I really have no one subject that i am truly knowledgeable about. But I am more at ease with topics on people, love and life. Other than that i find it interesting to engage in religion and politics.

I try to think of what others in my friend's list would find interesting and would be sure to respond to. Usually a movie I've just seen or something I heard in the news. I also use Mylot as a sounding board if I have had some weird experience or need opinions.

I don't think people deliberately pick a theme, it's just that some people are very passionate about one topic.
