So I see some old discussions I made in 2014. Do I get any comp for going back and responding on those? Since I am not really doing well here with my new posts thought I should ask. Maybe @goaskalice can tell me?

It's all about interaction with other members these days. There's no harm in going back to revisit old discussions, but I think you're going to find that most people seem to be focusing on the current ones. Activity drops off considerably after a few days to a week in most cases. If you were to respond to something I posted on an old discussion, I'd treat it as though it were any other one I got a notification for. I can't guarantee I'd respond and continue the conversation there, but I'd definitely read what you wrote and (probably) like it, too.

Your own posts aren't so important as on the other site. You can earn even without posting anything.

@jstory07 Most of your earnings are due to 'interaction'. You certainly wouldn't earn anything if you joined and didn't write anything at all, but you can earn when others interact with what you have written, even on your old posts, so if you can drum up some interaction on your old posts by commenting and liking the responses/comments you have there and encourage people to come back and comment on them some more, then you have a winner.

@jstory07 @Owlwings When I joined I did quite a bit of interacting before I posted anything, and I got 4 cents.

Why don't you keep a notepad by you and when you think of something you would find interesting and that you would like to discuss note it down. Then when you get back online post those. I am sure there are several members on here that are of about the same age and that have many of the same interests as you do. This might help you to find more discussions. Do you utilize the 'suggest' button when you do post a discussion? Do you follow other members?

@bunnybon7 I am getting to the part of the year when I feel that way too. One thing is that I always enjoy your comments and responses. When you do feel like it I hope you will post. And, remember we get paid for the responses and comments others make on our posts. If you are just here for fun that's fine. Enjoy!

I have had some responses on my older posts and I think I will go check them out and respond in kind. Sounds like interaction is very helpful.

Hi @shellyann36 I've been noticing the old bank climbing just because I'm getting into discussions.

In my opinion it's only worth responding to comments or discussions by people who are active members now. If you respond to something and nobody ever gets to read it, it's a waste of time and effort.

It can actually be quite productive to respond to old discussions and comment on old responses and comments because there is a chance that people who haven't thought about coming back to MyLot for a long time will read their emails, get curious and come back to find that things are just as they used to be. This has happened to quite a few people whose old posts have seen new life.

That's a good question. I think it's when your threads get posts, and when you and other people interact. You could always try the offers to get to payout.

How it worked years ago before they stopped paying and I was very active was that any comment you made on any post was counted. Most things are the same on mylot but there are some little changes I have noticed so some of it is confusing. I comment on things that are old if its about a topic I am interested in. I don't know if I will earn from it exactly but it can't hurt.

I know some old posts have popped up recently - and I have responded to the new comments, but not to any of the old ones. Oh gosh, I don't even really remember what I posted way back when - not sure if I want to bring that old stuff up again!

@rebelann That's true, but I don't think I've ever really posted a recipe (is that allowed here? I forgot - but I know the other place didn't allow recipes). I usually treat my post like diary entrees - there might be some stuff I just don't want to bring up again!

While your own posts would give you the satisfaction of interaction of a different kind you can respond to others' posts and be a part of this community

Older posts can be jump started back to life for the new generation. I think it should be actively encouraged.

Members from old myLot may remember the motto "I type I earn; you type you earn". Well, it's not really how it works on this new layout . So anyone still go by that should probably just forget it altogether since it's not 100% correct anymore.

Of course, if anyone responds to what you respond to, your bank will advance. Not that you will get this response nor do I know where your penny will go. But fun to chat with you in an odd sort of way.
