I was going through my notifications and got one about someone following me. My standard procedure for this is to check out the person's profile. So I do this, only to find this person is a teenager....that is about four decades younger than me....and according to the profile has zero activity, that is 0 activity. Am I missing something here?

Maybe that teenager just joined, today or yesterday. When I first signed up, was when my membership on another 5 sites was still active. Thus, I didn't learn how to submit discussions or anything else. Over a year later, here I am typing away at this computer keyboard, on My Lot.

It is definetely a learning game, with a learning curve for those that work at it.

@sumofalltears It takes a lot of time, but socializing is its best feature.

Age is not too important, really, when it comes to being friends. Often young people will 'follow' older people because they respect them and, perhaps, hope to learn something from what they write. I am always suspicious of people (whatever their age) who have absolutely no activity and have 'followed' a large number of people. It is a technique quite often used by some spammers who will later try to send spammy PMs to a large number of people. Of course, just having no activity and following people doesn't necessarily mean that they are this kind of spammer. It may be that they are exploring the site before posting anything (it's known as 'lurking' in online forums). Nevertheless, if someone like that 'follows' me, I won't follow them back or react in any way. I just watch to see what, if anything, happens.

Recent joiner, the numbers after your name indicate the number of posts that person has made.

I would not think that a teenager would be allowed to join here I would think that they would have to be at least 18 to join.

She was 18, but still that's awfully young for me.

It's probably early days for them. Some think that following a lot of Mylotters is the way to go...they either learn to build relationships or move on and leave the site. I don't pay all that much attention to who follows me. If they are actively following me, I'll notice and if their discussions interest me, I may just follow them back.

I see quite a few people who follow lots of us without ever writing anything - it really is pointless

I think you have to be 13 or older on here? Pls someone correct me if I am wrong. I get people following me right off the bat too with zero posts.
