My last wisdom tooth is being a pain. It hasn't even grown much yet but it's rotten and i really want it pulled out. It's definitely gonna need some surgery, just imagining it is quite scary. Have you done it? How long does it take to heal and how much was it?

I don't remember how much it cost, but all of mine were cut out with no problem. While it differs for everyone I was fine the next day. Ibuprofen helped me, but I was given pain pills. My uncle ended up stealing my pills, but that's another story.

It was so long ago for me that I really don't remember. And I didn't look at the bill. But it couldn't have taken more than 3 months to heal (and they were coming in sideways for me).

I'll probably stick to soft food for a month when I get this out.

I did and it wasn't rotten. It's a healthy tooth that grown the wrong way. So I had no choice but to remove it.

@lady1993 no surgery. Just anesthetic, then the dentist pulled it out. Just imagine a healthy tooth being pulled out. Even anesthetic can't help.

I had mine removed when I was 18. They where trying to grow out but it hurt a bunch to the point one night I took too much pain relive and gave myself a stomach age. So on my first big college holiday break it was schedule. Supper easy they gave me laughing gas till j went to sleep. Then did my IV line fave me more sleep meds, removed my teeth. Pretty much saw the color purple and was awake. Pain wasn’t that bad and I healed quick.

Our anesthesia here is given via injection, it hurts a bit. I guess I'll just schedule it during a not so busy week so I can at least rest well.

@lady1993 they do anesthesia two ways laughing gas which given the right around will make you go to sleep then the IV part of it is to keep you under as long as they need to ans they stop the medics when it’s time to wake you up: in some cause they just give you the IV for it depending on what you need it for. I can tell you in little kids give it like a few seconds they fall like limp noodles.

I had two of my wisdom tooth extracted. The first one when I was just turning 20ish. It got so painful that I agreed to have it removed surgically to get rid of that. The second one was when I was already married since I already how it is done and what to expect I seem to have a much easier recovery from it than the first one.

I had to get all of mine removed (I only had 3) because I had absolutely no room in my mouth. Surgery was necessary because they were not out yet, under the gums. I was used to many dental procedures in my childhood, so it wasn't too scary - just inconvenient as it was in my early 20s. My biggest deal was not being able to open my mouth/jaw fully for a couple days . . . and then maybe a couple weeks to fully heal. I don't remember the price - I think my insurance covered all of it at the time.

I still have my wisdom teeth, and I don't know it not requiring surgery. After all they are the hardest to reach, and simple plyers might not be enough. You'll have to consult a dentist about pricing and recovery time. If you can't care for yourself during the recovery period, be sure there's someone around who can help you.

My dentist said she may need some extra help with mine so I won't feel a lot of pain. So, still waiting on a schedule.

Yes, I had to have all four removed when I was 16. I have no idea how much it cost. My parents paid the bill... I remember about a month or a bit longer for all four to heal up. (There was some trouble with one of them, so it took longer to heal than the rest.)

I had two wisdom teeth that required oral surgery. They were taken out in sections. I had good insurance back then and it was covered at 100%. The assorted fees came to around 5k. This was back in 1992. The pain afterwards lasted a short time and it took several weeks to completely heal shut. They put me out for the surgery so I really had little discomfort. The ongoing pain I had prior to the surgery was worse than anything I felt afterwards. I wish you well and you shouldn't worry too much over this surgery.
