In cooking, which oil do prefer for frying?

Cooking Oil Label - n the 1930's Kinnersley Brothers Limited exported cottonseed oil and soya bean oil for fish canning and other uses under their own "Lion" Brand and "Gloria" Brand labels.

What are the pros and cons of Rape Seed (Colza), Sunflower, Peanut, Rice Bran and any other oils that you know of and use for frying (high temperature).

That sounds as though it might be a blend of sunflower and safflower. It seems that it's only available in India and I can find very little information about it.

I always use vegetable oil or sunflower oil. I tried olive oil, which is supposed to be healthier, but I found that it started to smell bad almost as soon as it was opened. I haven't really tried that many other things because I found vegetable and sunflower oils to be absolutely brilliant. Neither of them leave food really greasy, neither of them stick to the pan, and they don't tend to have that horrible "eggy" smell which some of the more expensive oils have. I think the only con of either sunflower or vegetable is that they are less healthy than other oils and they tend to be suitable for the general medium temperatures. In coller temperatures, they can make food seem too greasy and in some cases, when a really high temperature is needed, they can end up making things too dry. (Well, that's ok if you like them crispy!) Extra virgin olive oil is better for high temps if you don't want it dry but it will be too greasy for lower temps.

I find soybean oil easiest to use for most things. Sometimes canola oil (rape seed), just doesn't seem to work in certain recipes. I often use olive oil in cooking, but only for certain recipes.

Well the only two oils I have ever used were corn and olive. Corn is too heavy I think and I don't really like the flavor it leaves on the food. Olive oil is my favorite and I use it in everything! It also has a lot of health benefits for using it. I don't know about the other oils.

In 1960's, my parents were using groundnut edible oil. In 1990, they switched over to sunflower oil. India imports palm oil from Malaysia, but we do not like the palm oil.

If I use oil it is usually sunflower as it doesn't change the taste of the food. But I din't fry anything very often and when I do I much prefer lard for frying, I know it's not healthy but I enjoy the food better cooked like that.

I fry with canola oil only. It takes high temperatures, as well as peanut and sunflower oil. I never used rape seed or rice oil. I also use olive, but not to fry with, as it will burn.

I use canola oil and olive oils for cooking my foods. I haven't been frying my foods as much as I once did. When we use the fondue pot we use canola oil. We have been considering the use of peanut oil as it doesn't tend to burn so easily. The smoke from the fondue is minimal, but still I don't care for the smell of it at all.

We only use olive oil. Unlike other oils, it is good for you.
