Here is a list of old movies that I would recommend. Texas Across the River. It is a comedy about the old west. Starring Dean Martin, Joey Bishop. I remember watching this movie when I was about 15 years old and it was so funny. Some Like it Hot. A comedy starring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis. Picture Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis disguised as women. Funny movie. It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Another comedy about group of people on mad chase to be the first to find a large sum of money. The all-star cast includes Jimmy Durante, Milton Berle,Buddy Hacket, Ethel Merman, Sid Caesar and Spencer Tracy, just to name a few. It is a hilarious movie and fun to watch. What are some of your favorite old comedy movies?

I love all the old Laurel and Hardy films and also the silent Charlie Chaplin ones. I have the complete collection of the Laurel & Hardy films and my grandchildren just fall around the place laughing at them. When I was very young, I used to go to the cinema to watch Old Mother Reilly. These were also hilarious films but I never hear much about Old Mother Reilly now. Must check them out on the internet.

Bringing Up Baby with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn is always a favorite, along with My Man Godfrey. Remember the Topper films, they were hilarious. So many of the old comedies are great and they cross over to today's generations - my son, who is 21, loves the Marx Brothers and Pink Panther movies, not to mention the Three Stooges. There are really too many great old comedies to list.

One of my classic old comedy movies is called "Midnight Run" as is stars Robert DeNiro. It is so funny and love seeing it. I don't remember the other actors names in it but you should watch this one as well. It was made in the 80's I believe.

We're No Angels - Robert DeNiro
Sean Penn
One of my favorite comedies starring Robert DeNiro and Sean Penn is "We're No Angels". They are escaped prisoners who pose as priests in a monestary.

wow! i hadn't even thought of Texas Across the River in so long! I LOVE THAT MOVIE! I could watch it every week and not get tired of it...I like the original Herbie the Love Bug, Father Goose with Cary Grant, and one of my all time favorites, The Rounders, with Henry Fonda and Glenn Ford...they played 2 cowboys with a horse that gave them fits through the whole movie....hilarious!

Blazing Sadle is my favorite all time comedy film, not for the kiddies though. I beleive this was a Mel Brooks movie. I can't remember the whole cast but I know Gene Wilder played in it. I am a HUGE Wilder fan. I think it came out in the early 70's. Great movie!

Two of my favourites are The Court Jester, with Danny Kaye. I think it's far and away his best film. And The Princess Bride, which breaks all the rules of storytelling and is full of surprises. Great cast too.

i love "la vita e bella" (life is beautiful). it's a drama with humor, and it's amazing how they can mix those two excellently! you can imagine me crying while laughing, lol! another one is not that old, though it starred old men. yeah, you got that right, the unbeatable - "grumpy old men" :)

Grumpy Old Men....Jack Lemmon and Walter Mattheau were splendid in these films. The out-takes were even funnier. Jack Lemmon's father was side-splitting funny.

Hi! I'll never forget the last line of "Some Like it Hot." One of the best last lines of a movie ever! LOL When we were kids, we used to watch the old Ma and Pa Kettle movies. We loved those!

I love old Barbra Streisand movies, like On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. The one in my mind now is avoiding letting me find it's name. It is the one about the musicologist, Oh, yeah, "What's Up Doc?". I laughed at that one until I cried.

Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder were so hilarious in this movie. We just had a conversation about this film a couple of nights ago. It is a must see if you want to tickle your funny bone.

I can remember going to see Mad,Mad World at the theater. I saw it again last year for the first time in over 20 years. It was great. I like the Bob Hope comedy, Ghost Breakers. Really not pegged as a comedy, I like Hatari because it has some funny parts that are memorable. I know there are many others I have seen, but can't recall them. They don't make them like they used to.

My favorite old comedy movies although not 'old' by many peoples standards are the Hot Shots! films specifically Hot Shots! Part Deux, I remember first watching this and being blue in the face with laughter. Another [this time proper] classic as I commented earlier would have to be Blazing Sadles

Goodbye, Mr. Chips - image of movie publicity for the movie "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" starring Robert Donat and Greer Garson. Story of a private school professor in an English School at the beginning of World War I and takes us through several generations of families whose son's attending the school.
"Goodbye, Mister Chips" with Robert Donat and Greer Garson" It Happend One Night" with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. Won lots of awards. "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming" with Alan Arkin, Carl Reiner, Ben Blue (chases a horse all thru the movie),Brian Keith, Paul Ford, and a host of others. A must for all New Englanders. "Inn of the Sixth Happiness" with Ingrid Bergman and Kurt Jergens "The Good Earth" with Paul Muni and Louise Rainer "The Desk Set", "Pat and Mike", "Adams Rib" "State of the Union" and "Woman of the Year" and last but not least "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner"...Kathyrn Hepburn and Spencer Tracy "Dragon Seed" with Kathryn Hepburn "The Philadelphia Story with Kathryn Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant "The African Queen" with Kathryn Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart "The Lion in Winter" with Kathryn Hepburn and Peter O'Toole Any and all of Kathryn Hepburns movies are great I could go on all night. I prefer all the old moview to most of the trash that they call entertainment today.
