if you could afford it would you have a maid to clean up after you My mom would never have one, she would be going behind the maid cleaning after her. My mother is not satisfied unless she does it herself. I would love to have a maid and a cook, and a butler and chauffeur. I really should have been born rich. What about you would you have a maid if you could afford it? Give your reasons why or why not

I am not so sure I would like to have a maid and all that. I sometimes think I would, because it sure would help theoretically, but I think I would be like your mother going behind and cleaning up and then complaining they didn't do their job right. So I think I would save my money and do it myself. hahaha!

I have known people who employed household staff. That in itself brings about its owns stresses and responsibilities. I certainly would not like live-in help. I think in North America we have gone away from this type of arrangement. Only the very rich indulge in this. What I really like is a housekeeping service. They come in in do the job, you pay, they leave and come back in a couple of days, a week, two weeks from now or whenever you can afford them. I suffered an injury last year and spent some money on housekeeping service. Things I could not do myself. I really loved it and it took a big burden away from me and helped me get better. I wish I could afford this all the time.

If we had the money, I would hire a maid. Housework is quite boring and I don't always have the time to really do it right. If you give them a good salary, then you won't need to go behind them with a cloth. I used to clean houses as a child, which may be why I don't like to do it now. I would also like to have a chauffeur as I don't drive over here.

Even if I could afford it....I would not want someone to clean my house. It's not the fact that I'm really picky when it comes to cleaning.....but I used to clean houses for others and I remember how much you see about peoples lives and it's not always things that they would want everyone to know about. I for one have never talked to anyone about some of the things I've seen.....even so it would make for some juicy gossip....but I'm not one to dragg others dirty laundry out for everyone. Now I have worked with others that love nothing more than to share all those little secrets that they have learned about the people they clean for. Most of the times it's nothing that can get anybody in trouble.....but personal things that some would rather not share with a stranger. So that's why I would not feel comfortable having someone clean for me. As for the cooking....forgett it.I can't stand someone ells messing around my kitchen.....because I am very picky when it comes to that and they would get tired of me butting in on what they do all the time.

In India, most people from the middle class have maids who do the cleaning and cooks (though that's not as common as as a maid). I have help though I'm not exactly 'rich'.

Yes, if i could, i would have a maid. The house work bores me. And a cook, shauffeur and steward as in the nobile english families. "Yes, sir" ,"Yes, mum" -everything sounds funny:-)

I would love to have a chef, If I could have a chef I would be in heaven. I dont like cooking much and I have no imaginantion when it comes to food. So thats all I would be happy with. I dont mind the house work as long as someone cooks for me.

Me too! Pass the chef please. Like most moms, I spend most of my time in the kitchen cooking. And, I'm running out of really good tasting recipes. My husband used to cook all the time, now he acts like he acts like he can't even make a sandwich for himself! As far as a maid goes, I had one of those. Once I had to stay in a hotel for three weeks, and we got maid service all the time. It was nice having fresh towels daily that I didn't have to wash and dry myself. You kind of get used to it. It spoiled me. However, I was so embarrassed to have the maid see my messy ways, that I would compulsively clean the room before she came in to do her job. I'm sure she appreciated that! Cleaning is not a very easy job. And, I wasn't doing anything better at the time, so I didn't mind helping out with her cleaning job. If I had to hire someone to take the pressure off of me, it'd have to be someone that would run errands and pick up things from the store. I never seem to have time for that.

If I had my choice, I would love to have a maid. The biggest reason, I'm just plain tired of doing housework! I would love to come home from work and not have to clean up a mess, or do laundry. Just the thought of coming home and not having to deal with the housework gives me goosebumps!

If i could afford it, i would have someone come and clean my house. A few years ago when i wasnt well, i had someone come and do some housework, but i found i was tidying up before she got here and then i would be checking afterwards that things were done. I wouldnt get a cook though because i like to cook, and know what my family wants. Best wishes to you

I have. Living in cities where paying $600-700 to just rent a room and have roomates has one advantage. You can split the fee of having a a professional cleaner come in. It was great for me as I worked long hours. I'm a SAHM now and miss those days. I feel like I have job of sorts just keeping house and having a baby.

It probably sounds crazy, but I'm the same as your mother. I could never hire a maid and be satisfied. They always say, if you want something done right, do it yourself. That's how I am. A maid's work would never be good enough for me! With cooking, I would definitely hire someone. It's not that I'm not a good cook, but I think I'd much rather clean than cook. That probably sounds strange, too, but it's the truth! A butler might be nice because I get tired of answering the door and phone. I wouldn't want a chauffeur because I'm a good driver (never had a ticket), and I absolutely love driving. I guess I'm just picky. I love how you said you should've been born rich. I know just about everyone would wish for that! Unfortunately, being wealthy doesn't really happen that way. I think it'd save a lot of problems if money were easier to come by. (LOL) Very intriguing discussion!

I appreciate your sense of humor! I should wear one of those signs that says, "Will work for food" because I would clean your house in a heartbeat for a good, hearty meal!

I'd like to have a maid for the big cleaning, like once a week or once every two weeks. Not everyday. The little cleanup, dishes and laundry i could do myself but the big whole house cleaning, i wish i could get some help, and my hubby doesn't help, so...

Nope, I would do it myself. I wouldn't pay anyone even if I was very rich, I don't see the point because It's important to know how to manage doing it and sometimes those who have a maid find themselves needing to learn pretty quick.. (to get back into it) ~Joey

There was a time when I was still working when I did have a cleaning woman in once a week. It was heaven! I can't imagine how it would be to have someone daily. Heaven X seven, I guess, or maybe that would be x five, gotta let her have some time off. Imagine having someone else to sweep up those thread snippets, bits of fabric, trims, and excess paper from patterns. Good thing hubby is very patient [and messy too], we just do a big clean up once in awhile. He cooks, and I do dishes. Works for us.

We do have a part time maid who comes over twice a week to do the mopping, window cleaning and other chores. It works well. No complains. Well Hon, It might just turn your future into a better one with your wishes coming true. God bless you with your dreams and wishes.

I would not mind having a maid to do the household chores. It is tiring and after all the housework, there is little energy left to do other more productive stuffs. I would prefer to concentrate on the more productive stuffs and engage a maid to help out the mundane ones. I think it is fair. She needs a job and I am offering her one. She is working for her livelihood while I mine.
