It seems that life is so stressed these days. We never seem to have time for ourselves. We are always on the go and it leaves no time to destress. I have found that a nice soak in the bath with some music on helps me to relax a bit. This is a simple bath salt that will help relax you and help to take down swelling from the days running around. I hope you enjoy it. It makes great gifts also. It is so easy to make.
Peppermint Bath Bundles
1 C. Epsom salts
1 t. peppermint essential oil (or other desired scent)
2 drops red food coloring
Crush the salts in a food processor until it's powdery. Mix the salts, oil, and food coloring in a bowl (DO NOT use plastic, or you will embed the scent in it). Spread it on a cookie sheet and let dry over night. This recipe makes enough for 8 baths.
DO NOT limit yourself to peppermint...use your favorite scent. Place in a canning jar. Add a country graphic to the outside of the canning jar (container). Tie a nice fabric or raffia bow around the neck of the canning jar (container). Remember to add your gift tag or card if giving as a gift.

another idea is to make your own stress ball...all you need is a balloon and some sand. Put the sand into the balloon and fill it up about 3 quarters of the way full and then tie a knot at the tip of the balloon (where you blow it up) and there you have a stress reliever to squeeze when you are feeling stressed out.

Thanks for the wonderful recipe. I think I will use this one for some of the ladies at work this year for Christmas. It sounds very nice and a thoughtful gift! And inexpensive to make!

We did this for Christmas one year. It went over really good. We went to the dollar store and bought some bath poofs and some soaps. We put it all in a small basket and gave all the gals one. It was nice to have a cheap Christmas, we hope to have one again this year.

I love this idea and actually saved it last nght LOL
I actually tried it before with lavender and loved it but had forgotten all about it.
Thanks for the tip about not using plastic, I would probably forget about that part and I know how the scent will stay in :)
Sometimes we spend so much time and money looking for gifts when something this simple can be treasured.
Thanks for the tips:)

Bath salts make a great gift for your bath loving family and friends. I prefer lavendar for the scent. Lavendar is a very relaxing scent. I keep packets of lavendar in my dresser. I have a lavendar spray that I spray across my bedding after I make the bed. I am careful not to overdo the scent because some of the sprays can be overpowering.

I have made bath salts before, but I also have added glycerine to it for its humectant qualities. It draws moisture to the skin and softens it. Just stir it in. I also never did the crushing and drying step. I made Christmas gifts, scented with fragrant oils, and put them inside small decorative cans, in plastic bags. I like them.

Great idea. I am intoi making bath salts and now because of your great advice I think I will make them and sell them. I already have a recipe for them and cannot wait to make them. I am just waiting on the oils I ordered online as well as trying to find inexpensive jars. I was wondering about the food coloring can't that stain the tub?
