Have you ever had one of these? |
|
Growing up my favorite sandwich was always a fried bologna. But some of my friends would look at me like I was down right crazy. They would turn thier nose up at it. I never understood why and still don't. A fried bologna sandwich is not much different than having a grilled hotdog. They are both made out of very similar things. They are just shaped differently. I have even stated this to some people yet they still think it's gross. Why??? So have you ever had one? What do you think about them? I would even like to hear from those that have never had them. Why not?? Do you think they are gross? Please share your thoughts!

speedy1279 (1495) | 11 months ago | Yum! Fried egg and fried bologna. I have never had that combo, but it does sound good. I will have to try that next time I am craving a fried egg sandwich. My kids also love fried bologna sandwiches. My stepson at first wasn't too sure about it. He thought it was gross. But I told him like my grandfather told me "Don't knock it until you have tried it". So just to prove he wouldn't like it, he tried it. Well needless to say he fell in love with it.

2. giftsandbagscom (10613) | 11 months ago | fried bologna is one of my favorites to eat. I don't place it in bread though. I just eat it right out of the pan. I don't think it's any different than hot dogs. The fact is it's better tasting fried. I eat peanut butter on my waffles. I also like bread dipped in my koolaid. My daughter eats cool whip out of the container.

3. terri0824 (2957) | 11 months ago | Yes, I have had these before when I was growing up. Sorta reminds me of Spam. I don't like Spam. And not a big fan of hot dogs either. So, though I did eat them, they would be the last choice for me to eat.

speedy1279 (1495) | 11 months ago | Yes, I can see how fried bologna would remind you of spam. They are a little a like. Now I don't eat hotdogs all that much. But I do like spam. I slice it up and cook it in the oven, then put cheddar cheese on top of them. So, fried bologna would be your last choice, please share with us what is your favorite sandwich?

terri0824 (2957) | 11 months ago | Well, keeping it in the similar category, such as hot sandwiches. I like fried egg sandwhiches, with cheese and a little mayo.

4. hip2bemom (2374) | 11 months ago | I ate fried bologna sandwhiches as a kid all the time I still eat them and I fix them for my kids I like bologna fried better than just eating cold bologna. I don't think there is anything wired about it.

speedy1279 (1495) | 11 months ago | Fried bologna is definitly way better than cold bologna. But I will still eat cold bologna if I have rye bread to put it on.

5. marciaj (804) | 11 months ago | I think that when you've never heard of it before, it sounds weird, and some people think of bologna as a kids' food, so maybe that's why they think it is weird. I like bologna better fried than cold. You are right, the only difference between that and a hot dog is the shape. I have had both, and I don't love them, but I don't hate them. I eat them very rarely. The meat is just so processed, and I prefer things closer to the original form.

speedy1279 (1495) | 11 months ago | I do see your point about people seeing bologna as a kids food. But I was a kid when I had all my friends thinking it was weird.

speedy1279 (1495) | 11 months ago | Your very welcome. That is how I came up with the topic. I was hungry and craving a fried bologna sandwich. So while I was frying it, it made me think about how all my friends when I was younger thought it was gross. So I was wondering who else ate them and if it was just me who had friends that thought they were gross.

7. lightningMD (5537) | 11 months ago | My Dad used to make fried bologna sandwiches for us kids. We all loved them. We occasionally make them. My daughter refuses to eat them even though she eats hot dogs and cold bologna. I like mine with american cheese on it.

speedy1279 (1495) | 11 months ago | Isn't that funny how your daughter will eat hotdogs and cold bologna, yet won't eat fried bologna? Kids do make me wonder sometimes. They can be so funny and picky about what they eat. I too like american cheese on mine, and sometimes I will put the kraft cheddar slices on it as well.

8. SomethingGood332 (1345) | 11 months ago | My grandmother used to fry bologna and slice extra sharp cheddar to go into homemade biscuits. It used to be one of our favorite meals. Now that I am older I have lost my taste for both pork and fried foods, but I do occasionally still get chicken bologna, fat free cheddar, and whole wheat bread, make a sandwich, then heat it in a toaster oven. It has a similar, but healthier, taste without the greasiness of fried pork bologna.

9. moneyandgc (2681) | 11 months ago | My mom made these for me and my siblings growing up. She always put ketchup on them which I thought was disgusting. I like to eat mine with mustard only. I hate soggy bread, and ketchup always made the bread soggy. Yuck.

speedy1279 (1495) | 11 months ago | Oh I agree with you. Ketchup on it does sound disgusting. I am like you and perfer to have mustard on it. But I also like mayo and cheese on it as well.

speedy1279 (1495) | 11 months ago | They are very yummy! If your grocery stores sell bologna then you can easily make a fried bologna sandwich. Just make sure you make little slits in the bologna or it will curl up when you fry it on the stove. After that you just add whatever else you might want on the sandwich and your done. For me I normally put mayo, american or cheddar cheese, and mustard.
