I went to New Zealand and found that it is a small country with much to see. I loved it in North Island where I saw the Bay of Islands, a town with New Zealand's oldest buildings and ancient forests. I liked going to hot water beach and Cathedral Cove. I went to an art deco weekend. On the South Island I saw penguins and dolphins. I went on two long beautiful walks the Abel Tasman and the Queen Charlotte tracks. I liked the Scottish feel of Dunedin and the seeing pretty Nelson. Queenstown was exciting with all kinds of adventure sports and it was interesting to see the glaciers. Have you been to New Zealand? If so where did you like most? If not would go like go there? What would you like to do there?

I have been to New Zealand a few times now, and in my opinion it's one of the most beautiful countries in the world. In the winter it's as picturesque as Switzerland, but has much more to offer. The hot springs in the South Island are something not to be missed.

Yes, the hot springs are amazing. New Zealand is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and its airline Air New Zealand goes to the gorgeous pacific islands as well. It is a small country compared to Australia but it has just as much to see hey. Many thanks for your lovely response.

Actually I once thought of moving to New Zealand, although I have not been there yet. People say that it is a quiet and beautiful place...one of the best on Earth. I think I will visit it in the nearest future and if I like it, I will buy a retirement house there. LOL:-) But what was your impression about the people there? Are they nice and friendly? and is the cost of living high or not???

New Zealand would be a lovely place to live. It has less than 4 million people and the landscape is lovely, so unspoilt and scenic. The cost of living is quite low but standards are fairly high. The people are friendly, honest and welcoming. If I lived there I would choose to live in Northland near a picturesque beach. I went to Smuggler's Bay and was the only one there on a warm Saturday afternoon. Perfect! many thanks for your great response and I would like to add you as a friend.

I hope that you do get to go around the world one day and see beautiful New Zealand. Seeing your own country is a great thing to do as well. For many years I neglected seeing my own country in my rush to go overseas when ever I had the time and money to do so. You might be able to see Indonesia quite cheaply but New Zealand is further away.

I am a primary school teacher and writing is one of my hobbies. Travel is my favorite thing to do. Yes, New Zealand is full of beauty and adventure. Bungi jumping is for the very brave! There are tracks to make it a walker's paradise and the gorgeous scenery makes it so easy to want to keep on walking. I did one track that was fairly easy carrying my backpack and tent. Then I did a much more demanding track but my backpack and tent traveled without me by boat to the next place. Day three was a nine hour walk including a long stretch over a narrow ridge way. Oh, that was exciting. Cheers.

Oh that sounds like you had a most dreamy time. My daughter and I have been dying to go visit New Zealand. I lived in Qld. Australia for about 10 years and never made it to New Zealand. My daughter want to do the Lord of the Rings Tour. Who knows, we might make it one day. Hope you post pictures.

Living in Queensland in Australia must have been wonderful. New Zealand is next door but it is quite a distance and having lived in Australia for some time myself decisions about where to see next are challenging. If you fly from Los Angles you could stop off in the Pacific islands before reaching gorgeous New Zealand. Then you could show your daughter the Lord of the Rings tour. I haven't posted pictures since I got my laptop so I will have to learn how to soon.

The closest i have been to New Zealand is when i watched the movies Lord of the Rings Triglogy, Braveheart, and the Piano... these were all filmed in New Zealand and featured how beautiful the country is... i would certainly want to go visit that country... i feel like it is so different from other countries... mainly because it is located in the southern hemisphere making it very unique...

Some fantastic movies have been filmed in New Zealand. Piano is the one I remember seeing and the scenery in New Zealand is really that beautiful. It has such varied scenery and stunning views. I took enough photos to fill three albums. I love going to the southern hemisphere because penguins can be seen there. Yes, New Zealand is unique but I met a New Zealand person that felt quite at home when they visited Norway.

Wow you have certainly travelled my friend and I always enjoy reading your experiences and adventures of touring other countries. New Zealand is down on my list as a country to visit, and hopefully I will get the opportunity one day, it sounds like a beautiful country and from what I've seen and heard it would be truly amazing to see the country in all it's glory. I think I would like to travel and take guided trips that way you don't miss out on the hotspots and highlights of the country.

Yes, I really love to travel my friend Wolfie and I think New Zealand is the furthest I have been. I hope that you have a nice guided tour of New Zealand one day showing you the beautiful beaches, the old forests, the glaciers, Mount Cook, the wildlife, the thermal activity and the glaciers. For a small country it offers so much to see and do. Thanks for your wonderful response and have a great time on your weekend away.

I have not been to New Zealand, but my husband has. I would very much like to visit this beautiful island. Hubby & I i9ntend on hiring a campervan to travel around the island. That way we can stop & go wherever we like, for as long as we like. I also have an interest in the area near Auckland, as that is where my ancestor went & worked at the very beginning of settlement. He left after two or three years when the Maori Wars started.

Yes, going round New Zealand in a camper van with your husband would be an excellent trip for you. You would have transport and accommodation rolled into one and a month there would be ideal for your first time there. It would be especially interesting for you to see where your ancestor lived because family history is so fascinating. It was lovely to meet the Maori people and find out how they used to live in the past. Many thanks for your great response.
