Have you ever thought about renting from a rent a center or other rental store? |
|
For years I've rented my computers from either Rent A Center or Colortyme (which the one I'm on now comes from). It does end up costing more in the long run but they will have a man at your house within hours if you have a problem with your pc and if he can't fix it they take it back and give you a loaner until it's fixed. Since you're paying for it they never let you go without it. In the last 30 or so years I've actually purchased 2 computers, a camcorder and a beautiful bedroom set from Rent A Center and have always been very happy with everything. Have you ever rented furniture or an appliance from a rental company such as Rent A Center, Colortyme or Rainbow Rental? If not would you consider doing it? If you have what were your experiences?

1. luvstochat (5581) | 7 months ago | Before I got married to my husband he had a stereo thought a rent place. He made all the payments but by the time he made all of them he had basically paid for the stereo twice. I don't think I would do it again.

ctrymuziklvr (4462) | 7 months ago | Oh, you are right there we do end up paying almost double the amount but depending on the item and if it ever needs to be serviced I've found it to be worth it. I could never come up with the money to buy a computer outright and my credit isn't that great either...lol...

ctrymuziklvr (4462) | 7 months ago | If you've had the desktop pc it must be paid for by now right? I've never had an appliance from them but they always seem to have the best in brand names.

valerie37 (423) | 7 months ago | Both the desktop pc and the stove are already paid for.

3. warmweatherwoman (732) | 7 months ago | I am definelty a rent-a-center fan. It helps those of us who don't have the cash on hand have all the nice things they would like to purchase. The laptop im using now is from rent-a-center, the 34 inch flat screen tv and surround sound sitting in my great room is also from rent-a-center. I just recently purchased a new HP desktop from them- haven't taken it out of the box yet and had it a month ....lol...im getting to it. I have also bought a washer/dryer combo and stove from them. I appreciate thier services and you are absolutely right about anything that goes wrong- they have a man out to you in a heartbeat.

ctrymuziklvr (4462) | 7 months ago | That's the whole thing...I probably wouldn't have a pc if it wasn't for these rental companies. I had one from rent a center that I was paying way too much for then I saw the same one advertised at Colortyme for almost $100 cheaper because it has XP on it which I wanted anyway. All I had to do was call RAC and had them pick it up the day Colortyme was to bring me my new one and it all worked out great.

warmweatherwoman (732) | 7 months ago | Amen to that! I definitley love thier personalized service for "good" customers like me (so they say when I walk in...lol). There have been times that they may not carry what I am looking for- and the manager is so cool that he actually goes out and finds them when they do thier purchasing! For instance I am writing to you on a Toshiba laptop with a 17' screen w/ cd/dvd burner. My first laptop from RAC was a toshiba- but only a 15 inch screen and no cd burner and I told him what I wanted- the next week he called me to tell me he found what I wanted and it was ready for pick-up or delivery- now how is that for service!

4. giftsandbagscom (10613) | 7 months ago | The computer I am on now came from aaron's rental. I bought it out in three months which was great. I don't I compared my computer to dell and it's was better to pay it right out from them. I was going to get a lap top from aaraons a few days ago. But,I thought to just wait till Tuesday. To see if time warner will run faster on my computer. I love the furniture there. But,I would not buy it unless I could buy it out in three months.

ctrymuziklvr (4462) | 7 months ago | I almost went to Aarons for a computer but they didn't have any with XP and they were all Vista so I said no...uh uh...and got a good deal at Colortyme.

5. TheHairDresser (3389) | 7 months ago | My other half swears by Rent A Center. If it were up to me, and call me strange, I would rather hunt around for free stuff or very cheap stuff. But everyone differs when it comes to that. You are correct however ctry at it is a good deal as everything in this place is from the rental place and is excellent quality and can always either be exchanged or replaced or fixed. I agree, if I was going to go that route, I would choose the Rent A Center and they are always very good with their customer service and go out of their way to be friendly. Plus you don't have to be moving stuff yourself LOL

|
|
ctrymuziklvr (4462) | 7 months ago | It's the moving the stuff that I also appreciate a lot. When I had the bedroom set and I was moving they actually moved it from my old apartment to the new one...no charge! You can't get a better deal than that.

6. 34momma (3942) | 7 months ago | i have thought about it, but the only thing that bothers me is when they take the furniture back from people who could not pay for it, they then resale it. i am not comfortable with sitting on someone elses farts

|
ctrymuziklvr (4462) | 7 months ago | lol.....you have to look around when you go into the stores because a lot of times they have brand new furniture that has never been rented before. That's another good part of it.

7. Fishmomma (3263) | 7 months ago | I have never done it, but did look into renting. The price you end up paying in the long run was to much for me to get items that way. I did consider a computer because my computer skills aren't the best; however, the added cost would mean my computer was going to cost to much more.

8. maddysmommy (10111) | 7 months ago | I have never really thought about renting computers and furnishings from a store. Is it expensive to rent as opposed to purchasing an item yourself? hmmm might be a good way to go if you know you are only here for a short period of time i.e a year at the most!

| |
|
|
ctrymuziklvr (4462) | 7 months ago | Personally, I don't think the monthly payments are bad and it's especially a great idea if you will only have whatever it is for a certain period of time. That way you don't have to worry about moving it around.

9. slickcut (4853) | 7 months ago | I have personally not ever did that, but my son and his wife did,and they were very happy with all their purchases..They got a living room set and a big screen Tv and i believe some appliances..I think you might pay a little more but they are there to fix your computer if you have a problem and that within itsself is a big PLUS..It cost a lot of money to take your computer and have it fixed.i think that is a good way to get things for people who have not built up their credit or rather pay a small amount each month to pay for their items...I see nothing wrong with that,it seems that they are doing a good job for you..i did not really know that they rented computers, thats great...

|
ctrymuziklvr (4462) | 7 months ago | A big screen is next on my list and believ me that's the only way I would ever be able to afford one. Being on Social Security it isn't very easy to put any money aside every month for big purchases.

10. estherlou (3416) | 7 months ago | A customer came into our shop last week and put a laptop on my desk and showed me a picture of a wedding cake they wanted to have done. I said, "I'll do the cake if I can have your computer! LOL" I've wanted a laptop since before I got a desktop computer back in 1999! I was actually thinking about rent a center and seeing how much I'd have to pay to try one out!

|
|
ctrymuziklvr (4462) | 7 months ago | It is a good way to try out something to see if we want to buy it. You should check out all the available rental companies in your area because around here there are 4 different ones and they each run sales at different times. You should be able to get one for $100 or less a month. Check out Rent a Center, Colortyme, Rainbow Rental and Aarons they are the big ones.
