What baby boomers like and dislike?

interesting, i was born almost at the very end of the baby boom era. i like to work from home, but i also like music from the 20's and 30's plus music from now.

Yeap one word answer from the king of yap. They are real. Kids of today have no idea what the 'real world' is like and think that everything is going to be handed to them on a platter. Sorry kids, doesn't work that way.

Working from home... it's getting more and more popular. Security is not from the government but from what you do in life... I understand most people's views on SS and believe me I am a LITTLE younger than 43... pola you can figure it out if it isn't already posted on my profile and my wife is quite a bit older than I am.

My retirement is my hard work and forward-thinking that I do now... not some check that the government 'gives' me... nothing is free.

I am a baby boomer and I love the technology - digicams, ipods, wifi, PDA, laptops, GPS...but I hate those baggie pants that guys wear. You know, there butts are hanging out.

I love the internet, the availability of info, the news, online course all the fun stuff but I hate the way you have nut cases who are very prolific spouting insane ideas and dragging people into their misconceptions -- the conspiracy theorists, the nuts who give medical advice but use studies that are not properly conducted as their research, the ones who make people paranoid.

I love all the new fun appliances but hate the fact that energy has gotten so expensive to use them and I have no place to store them.

I love the oldies music going back to the 40s and a lot of classical music - I do not like rap or hip-hop.

I like the fact that this country is less racist and more tolerant, but I hate the fact that actions of some people have given so many people a new excuse to hate people that we did not care about 10 years ago.

Being a baby boomer, I like the music from the 60's to the late 70's.
I enjoyed our life style more back then also.
It was a slow even pace.
Now everything seems to be rush, rush, rush.

Well I was born in 1950 and I have got to love children more than ever and hate men more than ever. Go figure? I love country music when country was real country!!!

I have noticed those old baby boomers, pola, and they do seem to like the old timey music from way back in their day.

I do like some of the baby boomers music, especially classic rock from the 1970's.

I dislike the pants they were now that dont cover their boody rediculase they are and some of their music now adays that have cuss words in them . I always like music that has a beat to it tho.
Got to go passed the age 61 tho for baby boomers get to 68 any how ok?

I'm not quite a baby boomer, but I'm on the edge. I haven't really ever thought about what they like and dislike. I like some of the things you mentioned but don't care much about the others.

I don't care about anti aging suppliments, but I would love to work from home. I like 60s and 70s music, but I don't care about wrinkles.

Never thought of that. Sure they like the 60s and 70s, that was the era when they grew up. I like music from the 80s more, that's when I grew up and heard of them every day.
I run my business from home and I love it, even if I am not baby boomer. Social security insecurity - well is there anything really secure these days? Anti aging, I don't use it yer, but I do use night cream whenever I remember.

I was born in 1955, right in the middle years of baby boomers. As far as the world went, it wasn't truly the happiest of times. We had the Korean War, bomb shelters,the Vietnam War, assassinations of Americans- JFK, Martin Luther King, Jr., Bobby Kennedy, Medgar Evers, Malcolm X. We had such bigotry and prejudice against blacks. America was in a Cold War and "space race" with Russia.
It wasn't all bad though. Television shows were not as violent, probably more on the "fairytale" side. We had more musical-comedy variety shows, like The Dean Martin Show, Milton Berle Show, Ed Sullivan Show, Carol Burnett Show (my absolute favorite show of all time), etc. We had board games that we played with family and friends, instead of playing video or computer games by ourselves. Music was more innocent and we rated it by how good of a dance song it was, along with shows like American Bandstand and Soul Train. Oh sure, there were songs that actually had a deep meaning by artists such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, etc. We had alot of "bubblegum" pop music. I like music from the 40's through today. To me, all music is good!! It is a major form of freedom of expression. Music of today has reached new boundaries, regarding what is played on the radio. And we now have MTV and VH-1.
As children and parents, we didn't worry so much about the predators out there. Not that they didn't exist, but we didn't really give them a second thought. Nowadays, a parent does have to teach their children more than "Don't take candy from strangers."
There is still bigotry and prejudice in this world, especially the USA, but the laws are much better in punishing the criminals that practice violence against those they are bigotted and prejudiced against.
Has the world gotten any better since I was a child in the 60's? In some aspects, yes. In others, no.
As far as baggy pants, dressing up in Goth, or walking around with pink, green or blue hair? That is what makes this country what it is supposed to be, FREE! Freedom of expression, freedom to dress the way we like and freedom to color our hair whatever color we want to make it, etc. While I think the young men that wear those risdiculously baggy pants look totally silly, that is my freedom. To think what I like, as long as I don't do harm to those that have different beliefs and act in a manner that I would not.
