Unnecessarily graphic  

I think it is horrendous that anyone should be texting as they drive. If it takes a few nasty photographs to make them stop I think it is justified. It is against the law where I live to use a cell phone whilst driving, unless you have it on hands-free, but even then I think it is dangerous and many drivers ignore the law and continue to hold their phone to their ear as they drive. Texting is many time worse and more dangerous than talking on a phone.

I think the more generic softer approach may not be working because these accidents are happening due to losing their attention of the road. I don't think it is inappropriate to show these images if there are warnings that there are graphic images included. I think it could save lives if more people see what can happen if they continue to talk on cell phones and drive a vehicle at the same time. I nearly got killed myself last year, so I won't talk on the phone while driving anymore... but others are a little more hard headed and need to be shown.

I guess... when stupid people refuse to listen... you have to show them pictures.

It is bad enough to talk on the phone while driving... but today... the idiots are actually text messaging while driving. Now... that is not on.

You can still keep your eyes on the road while talking... but text messaging? Give us a break. People are crazy!

I guess you're ight in there. One picture could pretty well describe what it tells but several of it may present rather over already.

Yes, I am afraid i do. Nothing else is working. Texting, while driving, is like writting a letter. Too many innocent people have suffered because of it. If you need to text someone, pull off the road first.

That's an interesting point. I think that there is some merit in showing strong photos. Round here, at Christmas time, the Fire Dept plant smashed up cars at major intersections with the words "Don't drink and drive". It is pretty effective. However there is a campaign on TV at the moment that shows a woman at home making dinner. Her husband calls her from his car phone they are whispering sweet nothings when he smashes into someone else and there is a graphic picture of his blood streaked (dead) head. I have to turn off that ad when it comes on as I know what's coming. I have a built in car phone so I am hands free, but I think that if I had an ordinary cellphone the thought of that ad would put me off using it in the car (which is illegal now in the UK)

Well they certainly hit home the message of the dangers of using your phone whilst driving, but to use those graphic images which you'd probably only CHOOSE to see if sitting down to watch an x rated horror film, but to take you unawares like that I think it's pretty gruelling and macabre, I take it the commercials are late at night and not where children can view them? That's where I draw the line. If the commercials are working, they can obviously look at figures to see if the commercials are really hitting home and reducing accidents and deaths. Sometimes we need to have something like this to drum home the dangers of using your phone and driving.

I think it depends on how graphic they really are but tje forward you receives sounds as though it goes too far altogether! I guess the real problem is that people take no notice of the campaigns and laws that try to stop them using a mobile phone whilst driving and they have to find a way of grabbing their attention and making them realise the danger that they are putting themselves and other people in if they do this! My brother was a traffic policeman and the things he has seen would make many of us crumble and he would be over the moon if these ads pricked the consciousness of just a couple of people even if hundreds are upset by it - I have to say that I agree with him , I would rather be upset and a life be saved than me still going happily along! xxx

I guess some peeps are not being responsible. They don't respect other people's sensibilities. I also had a friend that I really scolded because he forwarded to me a picture that showed a road accident that was so bloody and gross. I haven't eaten corned beef or any meet product after having seen that. It took me weeks before that memory in my mind became less vivid. I really don't see why they enjoy seeing strong graphics or showing those.

In the Uk it is illegal to use the mobile phone whilst driving and these sorts of graphic ads are used to make people think before they do. I admit they are nasty but they are showing what the consequences could be if people do use phones whilst driving. I personally don't use the phone in the car but have in case of emergency, and I also don't like to watch these images. Ellie :D
