I did a discussion on Patrick Swayze some time ago because I have always been such a big fan, so it was with sadness that I heard tonight he is battling pancreatic cancer. His doctors say, however, that his prognosis is good and his treatment is progressing nicely. This statement was released to the public in order to counter the media reports of his impending death. Many of you know how I feel about the media, and I just wonder if there are any lengths they won't go to in order to get a story. I hope that all of you reading this will join me in prayer for Patrick Swayze.

Yes, I was surprised when i heard that on the news earlier this week. I always remember him the most for Ghost, which I watched so many times after it came out. And that song that plays (I don't remember the name, but I remember the song) where they are connected by touch, when she is at the clay wheel, is so touching. I send my warmest wishes and hopes over to him and his family.

The song you mentioned is an old Righteous Brothers song, Loen, but I am drawing a blank at the moment. I think everyone loved that movie -how could they not?

Hi. Thanks for the reminder of the singers. I want to hear it. I haven't in a while. Yes, I told my family, and they are sad too. We hope things will improve for him. Things are too cruel. But the good thing is that when a famous, well loved celebrity gets it, much more attention, research, and work seems to be put into that illness. Thank you for the generous rankingn also, hun!

This is just so sad , In our daily paper they say he has only about 5 weeks left , I feel so sad for him that all his private life is so public , I know that is the price of fame but surely some things should be kept private xx

I wouldn't count him out just yet, weemam, because we all know how the press likes to embellish every story it gets its hands on. His publicist has denied the story about him only having weeks left to live.

Yes, he is a decent person, Shaun, not spoiled like so many of the Hollywood types. He is also a very talented man.

I feel the same way about the media worldwise and I think it is awful that they force people to talk about things they may not be ready to disclose! I too admire Patrick Swayze and I join your prayers that he can fight this horrible disease without too much pain for him and his family - I also pray that the press will give him the space he needs fas this time! xxx

We are on the same page, mummymo, because all movie stars are not publicity-seeking wolves. It is for that very reason that some choose to live far away from Hollywood.

That's too bad. I do hope that his prognosis is good. I also liked him in Dirty Dancing and Ghost. I think my favorite appearance from him was when he guest hosted Saturday Night Live and he did a sketch with Chris Farley, and they were auditioning to be a Chippendale dancer. It was hysterical.

I would have loved to see that one, KATRINKA! I was a big fan of Chris Farley also. It's always sad when we lose a really great entertainer.

I will definitely say a prayer for him. He is a great actor and I love his movies. It is a shame the media has to cause more grief than is necessary in situations like this.

I've been thinking about him since hearing the news last night and praying that he will be ok. It did get to me when they said he only had a matter of months to live. As long as he keeps up with his treatment and his prognosis is good I think they should find something else to write about.

I do think Patrick Swayze is a wonderful dancer and actor. The media was reporting it to be an early diagnosis and curable. Sure was glad to hear that announcement. He was recently on Oprah and looked great. Did some dancing and he hasn't lost a beat over the years. "Dirty Dancing" is my all time favorite movie. Can't count the number of times I've watched it. I did join you in prayers for this great entertainer.

That is some sad news. I hope he recovers well. I like all of the movies he played in like, Dirty Dancing, Roadhouse, Ghost and a few others. I just paused a minute to say a prayer for him. I think celebreties get tired of all of the media hype. some of them just want to fulfill their career dream and live a normal life.

What you say is true, stephcjh, as he had stated in an interview sometime ago that he could have been a much bigger star had he chosen to take a different path than the one he took.
