How old are the oldest pictures in your family album?

That's interesting...I think the oldest pic of my family that i saw was one of my great-grandpa when he was in the army...my grampa used to carry it with him...others i saw were those of my gramparents when they were younger, so something around the 30s and 40s too...i used to love to look at them..especially those of my mom when seh was younger: she grew up in teh 60s and i just love the fashion of those years, being the hippie at heart that i am:p

My mother has a photo of someone that is assumed to be a family member. The photo was taken somewhere in the late 1800's. We came to this conclusion because of the garment the woman is wearing. The woman appears to be a full-blooded Native American. It is said that somewhere in our family history, on my grandmother's side, one of our ancestors is Native American.

Hi Ploachicago, I am afraid I have only a fairly new album of photos, because we had a fire that took all of our pictures. We had pictures that were taken way back in the late 1800's... boy were they funny looking too. The people looked more like statues than real people back then. But everything was burned back in 1980 when we lost everything.

How sad that they were all lost, some of mine got very damaged in a flood but others were saved so the oldest we have date from about 1900 which are of my Great Grandmother and some of her family. Over a 100 years old wow, I love them and I remember my Great Grandmother as she was still alive when I was a child. She was the double of the Queen Mother and such a regal lady. Ellie:D

That's so sad. I think my dad has some pictures of my great-grandmother when she was a young lady (maybe 1880s or 1890s). Those would probably be the oldest for my family.

I don't have old pictures, in fact I have only one where my grandfather was attending his sister's wedding, it was back in 30's last century. I found it recently somewhere on the net, and I checked with my parents and they don't have that picture. They have some old pictures, really old, some of them are at the beginning of last century, maybe early 20's.
I lost most of my pictures, mostly pictures when I was young and pictures from my wedding, due to war in our country, but I managed to save some of them.
I am sorry that your family's pictures got lost, it seems like a part of memory died with them.

I have quite a number of old photos of my family, like my grandmother, grandfather, and mother when they were children...but the real winners are the glass and tinplates of I guess my great-grandmother's mother..they look like something right out of the Civil War period--actually I'm not even sure if it is my great-great grandmother...but the timing would be right--I had often asked my grandmother and mother who the photos were of, but hadn't a clue either--then they were never keen on family history

The oldest photo that I have is a picture of my great-grandparents. I'm not sure how old it is but my grandma is almost 90 and it's a picture of her parents when they were just married.

My oldest photo is of my parents wedding day in 1946.
It is the only photo I have of my parents together.
I have a few others of mum, but none of my dad.
