Do you still go to the movies? |
|
Does anyone here still go out to the movies? Last time I went I could not believe the cost. It's not almost 10 dollars a ticket. So lets just say theres a family of 5. Thats about 50 dollars just to get tickets. Myself, I do not go to the movies anymore. It's just too costly, I could do so much more with the money. And the fact that on the day the movie is released on DVD that I can buy it for only $13.99 just seems like the better bargain to me.

1. ayumitakashi (2106) | 5 months ago | Yeah I know it's like so expensive to go. I haven't gone to the movie in more than four to five years. So I just wait until they come out on DVD and I actually get them from the libraries which is even cheapier because I don't have to pay for it. But I'm hoping that I could go at least once to the movies during this summer. The thing about going to the movies it that it feels better when your in that big room, that big tub of popcorn, nachos and all that junk food. So hopefully I could go once this summer.

phillygirl606 (812) | 5 months ago | true, I use to love going to the movies. We use to go almost every week. But that was over six weeks ago. I took my son to the movies when shrek the 3rd was there. It cost me over fifty bucks, and that was only the two of us.

| 2. eoeoeo (79) | 5 months ago | That is very true. But these days when everything costs so much from computers, to plasma telelvisions, to blu-ray players, it seems cheaper to me just to visit the movies. In fact, I'm going to watch a movie this weekend with my friends... the Forbidden Kingdom.=] Of course, if you already have the items above at your disposal then sure, buying the dvd might be a good idea. Really up to you... It's also nice if you watch the movie when theres still so much hype about it, rather than watching it a month or few after it's released.

phillygirl606 (812) | 5 months ago | well yeah I already do have all the above mentioned items, but if you think about it if your a person who goes to the movies on a regular basis just saving your movie money will get you these items rather quickly

3. Debs_place (5574) | 5 months ago | We have a theatre that does $4 matinees on weekends and than another one that does $2 movies, once they leave the $10 theaters. We only go maybe 3 or 4 times a year. We do enjoy the drive-in once ever 2 or 3 years. Last year it was $5 a person. I love the iMax, but when we went a few years ago it was $20 a person....forget that!

phillygirl606 (812) | 5 months ago | I've never been to an imax because of that. We use to have one of those 2 dollar movies theaters as well, but it closed down a few years ago. We do have a movie night here where it is 4 dollars and than you get a free popcorn, but that is only on Tuesdays night. With working and everything who really has time to hit a movie theater on a Tuesday night.

4. mrgpk66 (736) | 5 months ago | Yes Movies have gone up a lot but that is not the Main Reason I Stopped going but Dvd's are the same Price or maybe a bargain Video Tape of the few left for little cost. The Movie Experience still can't be beat but I guess I got into a Bad Habbit but Once in a While is Cool. We got to Treat Ourselves Once in a While.

5. egdcltd (487) | 5 months ago | I usually go at least once a week on average, but I have an unlimited card, so I can go as many times as I want for £11.99/month (about $25). For families, even with the available offers, staying at home is usually cheaper.

phillygirl606 (812) | 5 months ago | yes if you do not have a family and you are only paying for yourself than going to the movies isn't bad, but when you are paying for more than 2 people to go it becomes rather expensive.

mommyboo (1386) | 5 months ago | OH! I forgot to mention... sometimes there are coupon deals on movie tickets, like I know they are available at Costco and are something like $7.50 or less a ticket and purchased as a pair. You can then use the tickets at any time, for any movie, at the designated theater(s) listed on the tickets. If you love movies as a family, this is a great gift idea, friends or family can purchase movie tickets or gift cards instead of just toys or clutter or clothes and then you can all go out and enjoy the gift.

phillygirl606 (812) | 5 months ago | I know the feeling, It's so hard to leave your young one even if you know they are well taken care of. But now that my son is a little older he usually comes along. It's just way too expensive though when you have at least 3 people to pay for.

9. marababe (1450) | 5 months ago | Wow, almost $10 for a movie? That's like 400pesos when you convert it here. Anyway, yes I do watch movies with my friends, my mom or even alone by myself. LOL. The movie tickets here cost around P120-P170, depending on which mall you'll watch the movie or what the movie is.:)

10. mbs730 (1889) | 5 months ago | I very rarely go to the movies! If I want to watch a new release I can do so through a DVD or netflix or something. Much cheaper by far. I will only go to a movie if its huge and something that I HAVE to see at a big theater.

phillygirl606 (812) | 5 months ago | I agree, I usually wait until they are released on dvd and than will go and buy it. This way I can watch it when I want and when I have to pee I can actually pause the movie and not miss anything, lol. And it only makes my DVD collection get bigger.

mbs730 (1889) | 5 months ago | Yes, having to pee when the movie is going sucks because you miss some of it, but with a DVD, no worries there!
