Do you buy those spot removers like Spray and Wash or Shout? I have stopped using them because I find they don't work for me.My granddaughter went to Disney World a couple of years ago with the marching band. She brought home a good number of the bar soap from the hotel that they stayed in. She got some blood on her cloths and used that soap to wash the blood out. My grandson has to wear a whit shirt to school at least once a week. Some times when he shaves some blood will get on the collar and I won't see it until I go to hang it up. and you know what happens when clothes go through the drier. The stain is usually set. I decided to try the soap that my granddaughter brought back from her trip. Guess what it worked better than any store bought spot remover. She had a shirt that had also been through the drier and we found it had some chocolate on the sleeve so I took the hotel soap wet the spot and rubbed the spot and threw it in the washer and all the spots have come out. So I'm not buying any more spot remover from the store. Someone is always staying at a motel or hotel some where so this is now my spot remover.

I will have to remember that. I guess any type of bar soap would work! I also know that peroxide is very good at getting blood stains out of clothing. I just received an email this week, though I have seen it before of all the purposes that peroxide has over bleach.

Thanks for the information. I have 3 males that live in my home and constantly has something on their clothes(grease, grass stains,paint,blood,ketchup...etc) My husband travels alot, so I'm going to tell him to get the soap and bring it home...

This is a good idea, I am going to start doing this. You can even rub some soap, on the stain when you first spot the stain and throw it in the hamper till laundry time. I don't buy the spot removers, I usually use some laundry soap on the spot, I like using the liquid.

I use a stain stick. Every time we get a stain on our clothes, I will will rub the stain stick across the stain before washing. It usually takes the stain right out. I have also used the Spray and Wash also. some stains just do not come out. I can always get them out of my whites with blerach though.

I quit buying shout because it never worked for me any better than just putting a little detergent on the spot and letting it sit for a half hour or so before you plop it in the wash. Ive never tried hotel soap though. It is so hard and lasts well it seels like it would work. I will have to try.

I agree with you. From where I came from, even if I do have a washing machine, I would soak my clothes overnight first in a detergent soap and the following day I will hand wash all the clothes without so much effort and guess what, my white shirts are really white. I never used those spot removers back then. When I came here, I don't soak my laundry anymore because they are not used to that, and guess what, my white shirts are not as white. And the spot removers never really do the trick.
