Now I need a Name...lol |
| |
| Okay this is for something different, not the same thing as my "word" discussion (for whoever has read that=P). I am looking for a name, for a dog. I will give you a picture of the dog with this discussion, that may help some of you. But I need a good, strong name. A name that says...strength, intelligence, authority, kindness loyalty...basically a name for something that demands and deserves respect. Am I making any sense? lol. Thanks guys! <3=P (Oh! And it's going to be a male dog =P) lol thanks! | | Dog Needs A Name | | | | |

| | Congratulations on your new dog, LilyoftheThorns. Is he a Great Pyrenese? I have a dog just like that and his name is Blizzard. I'll try to think of a name and come back. Have you any names you're considering? | | | | | | |

| | Actually he isn't my dog =P hehe. Sorry I know I was misleading in this discussion. This dog is actually going to be in another story I'm considering writing. I'm writing the beginning of each story-then I'm going to pick which one to keep writing =P hehe. And I just need a name for a dog in my story =D But the dog has a big role in the story, he isn't just a family pet. He's an actual character (this is a pretty different story-I think lol). Thanks Transdisc! =) | | | |

| | I have looked it up, Lily, and found a site that suggests some good names: http://www.dogs-names.net/male-dog-names.html Few that I liked and some of them are used by my friends too, though not for this particular breed are: Ace, Legion, Ranger, Hoover, Brutus, Chester and Tiger. Good luck with a good name search!:-) | | | | | | |

| | Thank you very much for the link! The names you listed are defeniatly good names; Legion is defeniatly a strong name. But I'm not sure they are the name I'm looking for. I looked at all the names on the link you provided, and although I saw some good ones, I don't think I read the right one. None of them jumped out at me and felt right...you know what I'm saying or am I just being a control freak spaz? =P lol. | | | |

| | Shoot! I meant to mention... I don't necessarily need a name that was made for a dog. I want any name, whether it sounds like a person or animals name. Thank you! =P | | | |

| | I can see what you are saying, Lily, it happens that sometimes something just doesn't 'strike'. And, it happens in more way and in more things than I may like to believe at first and it happens with me too, so no worries!:-) What about 'Schreuder', hehe! I like its sound!:-) | | | |
LilyoftheThorns (4517)

| | Schreuder...hmmm...hehe. Is that pronounced like..."shrew der"? =D hehe. Does that mean something in another language? | | | |
kamran12 (1808)
|
| | Yes, I pronounce it that way, Lily, or perhaps 'shru der'. And, I don't know if it means anything. It's German, phonetically, and last German chancelor was Gerhard schroeder, so I just changed the letters to have same sound yet not disrespect him in anyway! | | | |

| | Ooo I see. So it is actually a German name =P Not just a german word hehe. It is defeniatly an interesting, strong sounding name. But I just thought of something that goes along with this. You know The Chronicles of Narnia? The lion? Aslan! lol. That right there is a powerful name =P A name that everyone remembers. That's what I'm lookig for, for my dog lol. I want my dog to be the next Aslan =P | | | |

| | That's surely a good name, Lily, I would like that too, if I had such a dog!:-) | | | |

| | I don't want to steal the name Aslan though =P I wish I had thought of it first! lol. Then they could name their lion something else! =P I went and looked up names, I found a couple I might like. They are both Arabic names. The first one is Kadar, it means "powerful." The second one is Mamdouh, which means the namesake is "glorified, praised." A couple of ordinary names I've always been a fan of are James and Daniel. But I'm gonna keep looking, I might find a real gem! =P You like any of the ones I mentioned above? Any faves? | | | |

| | lol i think i do like the name because of the character! Aslan's awesome =P Who doesn't love him! lol. I think me and you are just going to be going back and forth with names and translations! lol. Of course Sultan is a cool name, but I can't picture this dog being named Sultan. Maybe if he was a great dane =P lol. Here are some more I found! =P Kadar (“powerful“) Mamdouh (“glorified, praised”) Conall (“Strong Wolf”) Isaac Convel (“wolf worrier) Maccon (“son of a wolf”) Marrock (“knight thought to be a wolf”) Sandilio (“true wolf”) | | | |

| | You like Conall? kk! =P I'll remember that! :) Sometimes in these situations where I need to pick between a group of things I will ask a bunch of people which is their favorite, and whichever gets the most votes-wins! lol. Thank you Kamran! :) | | | |

| | I noticed you picked names that mean wolf, but the dog in the pic doesn't look like a wolf. I have an Alaskan Malamute, now that's a dog that looks (and acts) like a wolf. I think the name should fit the dog's look, just an opinion. I write too. My current novel is about a wolf, I used Native American language meaning Black Male Wolf, and my wolf is black and male. | | | |
LilyoftheThorns (4517)

| | Well I know he doesn't really look like a wolf :) But dogs and wolves are related, so I figured if I used a name that meant wolf it would be okay. They are basically in the same family. Alaskan Malamutes are beauitful dogs!!! | | | |

| | Prince. I had a german shepherd that had all the qualities that you just mentioned and his name was Prince. He was my friend, my protector, and part of the family. I had him for 13 years. Sadly he passed away on Christmas eve morning. You may not like the name, but for me it fits all the qualities you just listed. | | | | | | |

| | When I saw the picture of the dog, the first word that came to my mind was His Majesty or Majestic. He certainly looks like he would demand a majestic name. SIAKL - or something like that, which is the first letter of each word you use to describe him. Good luck with the name. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, I also like the name Majesty. It sounds like a strong name for a dog to me! | | | |
LilyoftheThorns (4517)

| | I really like the name Majesty too. But I'm not sure I want to use a name that really sounds like a dog. And I think it just tells you (as in the reader of the story) too forwardly that the dog is great and strong. I don't want a name that tells you he is strong (and all the rest =P), I want a name that just sounds like he is. Does this make sense? lol But I really love how you made a name out of all his attributes!! I'm gonna pick like 5 or 6 words I would really want to use to describe him, and do what you just did! Thank you Terilee! :) | | | |

| | ARTHUR, Lol. Arthur is the name that pops in my head when you said it has to have strength, intelligence, authority. If you think Arthur is so cheesy, ignore it. Arthur , sit! Arthur, jump!...is that cute? | | | | | | |

| | Arthur defeniatly is a strong name! Makes me think of King Arthur :) Defeniatly a respectable guy! =P I think this is a name to keep in mind! :) (I'm making a list of names then gonna see which name(s) people like best =P) The dog in my story isn't actually going to be treated like a dog =P hehe. Not like that =P No one is going to tell him to sit or jump! lol. Thank you for the great suggestion grecyc! | | | |

| | I like the shape of your dog. He looks strong and tough, like he could take on anything. Samuel He looks like a Samoyed in a way, but he also looks like he could have other dogs (breeds) in him. He could be Sam for those that know him. Soloman, King Soloman or just King for short. Those are the ones I can come up with. Take care | | | | | | |
LilyoftheThorns (4517)
|

| | Thank you :) He isn't actually my dog though hehe. That's a great pyrenees dog (but I defeniatly get where you see Samoyed in it). But the dog I am looking for a name for is fictional =P I defeniatly like the name Samuel, makes me think of the strong silent type. And you know what...at first I was going to say that I'm not sure it is right for him but now...now that I think of it, it might actually be a good one. One defeniatly to keep in mind!!! Thank you writers!!! =D | | | |

| | I looked at the other choices and I like Majesty the best so far. That is the best looking Great Pyranees I've ever seen. Really strong looking. When I see them, they're shaggy, in need of a bath and I think they're one of the drooling breeds. I could be wrong, not sure why a lot of big, really big dogs drool. Take care and hope you find what you're looking for in a name. | | | |
LilyoftheThorns (4517)
|

| | Yeah that is a really good looking pyrenees! lol. I wouldn't mind having him =P I'm not sure if they drool a lot, but yeah I work with dogs and the really big ones do tend to drool! lol. But there was a great pyrenees Mix and he didn't drool! =P Awesome, sweet dog though! | | | |
