Test Your Memory With The Memory Box...  |

 As we get older, some of our memory skills start to fade. When I was in school I took a class that helped improve your mind skills including memory. One of my favorite practices was the memory box. The teacher would bring in a large box (similar to a dress box) with items glued into the bottom. He’d sit the box on his desk and each student was allowed 10 seconds to look at the items in the box (you can shorten the time as you get better). Then you had to go back to your seat and make a list of how many things you remembered. The box usually had between 25-50 items and the grades went by how many you could list.
So, I’ve made my own version of the box. There are 25 items in the box. Open the pic attached and look at it for 10 seconds, close the pic and see how many you can name. This is based strictly on the honor system…so don’t cheat LOL

BTW, I’m disqualified since I made the box but I know that my memory and observation skills could use some work.
Do you think strengthening your memory is something ppl need to do as they get older? Have you ever played memory games with your kids? How good are you at remembering things?

| twoey68 (5214) | 3 months ago | You did good...it isn't easy...at least for me it wasn't. Especially the first time we did it. After I knew what to expect though I did better and really liked playing it. It's alot of fun to do with kids too just using some of their toys, animal cookies, ect.

Do you know that when I was a kid, I had a photographic memory, I could looking at something once and remember it. I could read a passage from a book and read it back word for word.
I was always used in plays to help people learn their lines and be a prompt for rehearsels because I could read a script through once or twice and know the whole thing. When I think back now to that, I think to myself "how on earth did I used to do that" I could not do it now that is for sure.
I do not play games with the kids, and I should do, but there you go, it is not something they are interested in so we play monopoly instead.
