Do You Keep?  

I have a small flashlight near the bed but we do have larger ones close by. I also have candles around the house but no lanterns. Might have a lantern out in the garage but not sure, my son takes one with him sometimes when he fishes at night but we don't normally have that many storms that knock out the power.

We have a flashlight handy and there are display candles we can use. We used to have frequent poweroutages in our area for years with and without storms, lol, until the power company finally decided to put in a new transformer or somthing like that. It's always good to keep a flashlight handy. Just just never know when you will be in the dark...

I love scented candles. So we have plenty of them in every room, plus a way to light them (can't forget that!).

The candles can get me to the flashlights, which we have on each floor.

Our electricity hasn't gone out for more than a few minutes in our new house, and we've lived here for a year now. I don't think we're going to need them, but just in case...

I also went to GoodWill stores and found candle sconces to put on the walls. I have one in every room. That way, if the electricity does go out at night and stays off, we at least have a lit path to other rooms, out of the way and in no danger of falling over and burning the house down.

I also keep a good supply of emergency candles for the sconces!

We used to keep flashlights and candles ready when we lived on the reservation, because you never knew when the power would go out. One time I was coming home from a meeting and it was late. I was mad at my husband because he didn't leave the outside light on for me. When I asked him about it, he asked me if I noticed that there were no lights on at all anywhere around because the power was out. I didn't even notice! How silly is that. We moved almost three years ago back to the city and only once did the power go out and I was so shocked. Especially since it used to happen to us all the time and I had forgotten about it. It's a rare occassion for us now, that we are not prepared for when it does happen. I would definately keep one if I was in a place where the power went out all the time.

yes, i always do have a flashlight by my side specially if there is a storm but no battery operated television, a battery operated and the old reliable transistor radio would do well enough to keep me updated on what is going on.

We have flashlights all over this house. There's just the matter of actually finding them when the power goes out. We have a lot of candles around the house and those always get used in the event that the power goes out. I guess though that means finding a flashlight first so I can find the candles. I always have a few candles available in the living room so as long as I can get to the lighter and the candle I should be able to get everything else that I need too.

i always keep plenty of extra candles around in the closet just in case that the electricity goes out during a storm. i do not want to be sitting around in the dark either. and i do not have any laterns or oil lamps to burn. and if i happen to have a flashlight near by when the lights go out, then half of the time, the flashlight will not work due to needing new batteries in it. so i just stick to using my candles if need be. and awesome on having a battery operated television set. lol that is cool. with kids around and the electricity goes out, it is hard to keep them from opening and closing the referigerator door during that time.

No I dont keep a flashlight or lantern near my bed but I do keep candles that I can easly light. Thats a very good idea.

I do. We have had alot of storms in the last three years in our area. Our powert has went out alot of times too. I hate to sit in the dark or find my way around the house without a flashlight or a candle. I have both of them around when we have storms coming. I don't have a battery operated television but I do have a scanner that runs off of a battery. I would like to have a television that runs off of a battery too though. that would be nice. My scanner has a weather channel though.

flashlights can really come in handy when there's a storm. i do keep one all the time. not probably beside me ... but to a place where i can easily get it.
