This is a shot of a small area of my strawberry patch. There are about 30 or so strawberries in this small grouped area. I see maybe 100 or more total green berries that should be ready to eat in a week or so time. I've had a few already to munch on. How's things in your patch doing? Any red berries yet to eat? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You lucky thing ahving space in your garden for your own patch. I suppose we have space but i don't think they'd grow very well. Think of me next time you pick and eat a few fresh, there's nothing quite like munching on freshly picked strawberries still warm and sweet from the sun!

I just absolutely love strawberries and I can not remember the last time I had fresh right from the garden. Neither one of us is all that healthy although my husband could make an effort to plant some, but the biggest thing is we would't get much of it anyway. We had a nice little garden, I loved it but I did the watering and weeding and the neighbours did the picking. The next year I suggested we dig them a spot in our yard and that could be their garden. They accepted that and planted their stuff so I thought OH GREAT. Well they never pulled a weed and still took our stuff so I said that's it. We can buy fresh veggies at the farmers market for cheaper than we can grow it. I'd much rather have my own though. You do such lovely gardening. You must have good neighbours or perhaps none?

Well that sure wasn't very neighborly of them after all huh? I give some samples to a few of the neighbors actually and they are very appreciative of the gifts. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That looks so good! I only have one strawberry plant and it has only produced two strawberries. It's sad really, but I am hoping that next year will be better.

Keep an eye on the plant for shoots coming out and direct them to where you want more to grow. The shoots will set root where you place it. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

The only strawberries I had lately were in a nutri grain bar. I love strawberries. We got some fruit ice bars and they were strawberry flavor and had real strawberry chunks in them.

Apparantly I've had loads of strawberries this year, but they are growing outside the caravan that the kids use as their lego centre so they tend to get snaffled straight from the plant by small strawberry lovers. We have our first blueberries ripening just now. Just one or two each evening, which we share out and savour. I'm really looking forward to getting a larger crop in the future. They're delicious.

You are so lucky Bob. I love strawberries and tried to grow them a few years back. After battling the birds to keep away from them and the lack of sun, I gave up.

Sadly, all I have is two early girl tomato plants. Between my online writing, this place, my mom coming for a few months and some part time work I've had precious little time to plant. I imagine it'll be different next year when we'll all probably have to plant in order to eat. Enjoy your harvest!

hi Grandpa Bob alas my strawberries have to come from Vons as I have no garden. You should have enough for a feast really soon. we get mammothe strawberries here in Ca but although they are ripe they really are not as sweet as the 'smaller ones we used to grow on the farm. I have found though if you keep these ca grown ones in the fridge for a few days they do seem to get sweeter. lol

Me and I are hoping for a nice batch at once so we can make some homemade strawberry shortcake etc. These are decent sized most of them. Not too large nor too small. Just enough to jam into my mouth and enjoy. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You wouldn't be able to beat my husband out of that patch with a stick. He loves strawberries. The only berries we have are bluebarries.
