A good discussion is worth repeating if it's about eating, don't you think?
Well, this one is about dinner - tonight's dinner to be precise. We had a pan-browned ham steak, hash brown potatoes, baby lima beans, milk gravy made from the meat drippings and brownings in the pan and tropical fruit cocktail along with wheat bread to eat with the gravy (something we like). The ham was a very good one - I don't mean brand, although it was a brand name, but brand doesn't always guarantee the ham will have good flavor. This did! The gravy turned out perfect. The hash browns were very good; the limas had good flavor, but were a little starchy (I don't know if I over- or under-cooked them); and when we were done, we felt not just full, but satisfied. We enjoyed the meal - we didn't just eat it.
So, how about you? How was your dinner tonight (or what will it be)? And was it satisfying? Have you had a meal you could call satisfying above being filling?

We just had that as well (minus the salad) - I ground up the left over pot roast with the food processor and added that to the spaghetti sauce, which was full of chopped veggies and chunky tomatoes. Have plenty left, too. Giving about 4/3 to my daughter and keeping a serving for my breakfast in the morning (hey - if I can eat eggs for supper......)

If you hadn't re-written that, I'd never paid any attention. We usually read correctly if something is spelled wrong.
Spaghetti for breakfast? Don't think I could do that, although I love breakfast for dinner at times.
The spaghetti was good and so was the salad. But, this was 2 nights in a row for this. Didn't have grandsons with us, so it was leftovers for us tonight. But it is always good. Only had to make the salad and toast tonight.

Dang it anyways. I totally forgot about the invite to dinner. I'm sorry I didn't show up. I have no excuses either being I was home all day doing pretty much nothing.
Tonight's dinner consisted of regular instant oatmeal loaded with brown sugar and maple praline. Now I'm snacking on raw veggies with onion dip.

Yup but doesn't oatmeal have a lot of fiber in it? I know the raw carrots, celery, cauliflower, broccoli does. Can't forget those hot radishes from my garden either. Low-fat dip and it balances out pretty well. I get my daily consumption of the food groups but just at weird times is all.

We had steamed blue crabs that my DH and daughter caught this morning, then we picked the rest so we can have crabcakes for dinner and some for the freezer.
Then we got some Fried Chicken and fruit salad to eat after we were done picking the crabs.
Dessert will be in a little bit and it's a 4th of July cake that I made.

Even though I used to go crabbing with my dad when I was little and there are seafood places all around us, I have NEVER eaten crab or wanted to. I don't eat clams either, unless they are fried. Even with the fame of Jersey Tomatoes and a mother who grew up on a farm and always had a garden, I won't eat tomatoes either. MY DNA really got screwed up somewhere along the line!!! LOL But, that otherwise sounds good (crab cakes are VERY popular up here, especially jumbo lump Maryland crab cakes - they even look good, but I can't make myself eat them. I'm a walking oxymoron (emphasis on the moron??? he he he) But, I'll bet you all enjoyed them! That's good. Food is sustenance, but we should also enjoy what we eat if it's not survival rations.

My daughter recently discovered gyros - she likes everything about them. I don't like the meat (although I like lamb - but there's a taste to this because of the seasoning that I don't like) and I don't like the sauce. Pitas are OK but they're pretty dry. I think I'd prefer the beef in it - I've had some pretty wonderful beef and/or lamb shish kabobs in some Mediterranean restaurants around here, so if they used them, I think I could enjoy it more. But, that's me - I didn't grow up with it like some people didn't grow up with scrapple and won't eat it or don't like it. But, because it has so many different components, you're able to "personalize" it for each child. That makes it a good thing to serve!

My dinner was okay as it was homemade beef stew with
lots of veggies, but could have stood a bit more
beef in it. what is satisfying to me is spaghetti with
meatballs and and a lush tomato sauce, thats what
I love both filling and satisfying too.

We had angel hair pasta with bolognese tonight - the meat was from the pot roast I'd made last week, but didn't want to lose. I minced it up in the food processor and added it to chunky spaghetti sauce (loads of veggies, etc). It was very good. A great way to use up leftover roast (if there is any).

That sounds awesome. I could literally smell the foods that you named, lol. I think the best thing on that list is the hash browns. I can never get enough of those. Especially when it's seasoned perfectly. My dinner last night consisted of ice cream, lol. I didn't eat anything until around 5 am this morning. And that was when I had pasta with grilled chicken. Now I'm feeling kind of hungry, lol. Thanks for sharing.

Well, tonight we had some awesome angel hair pasta with bolognese sauce made from ground up pot roast I'd made late last week. (I had a discussion on that as well). It was so meaty - nothing like hamburger, and full of chopped veggies and chunks of tomato. Yeah - 'twas a good meal! My daughter's getting the leftovers!!

That all sounds delicious. I agree with you about the ham, even some nobrands are very good. Right now I don't know about dinner here. We are still waiting for our daughter and grandson's flight to make it here from Brooklyn, the Dallas/Ft.Worth. They should land in the next 30 minutes then will decide. They may have eaten already since they have been in airports and on planes since 4 something this moring. We did plan to bbq today because they were supposed to have been here at 10:30am.
It is hard to find a meal that is both filling and satisfying to me.

That sounds good, too, but I had meatballs last night in a roll with mozzarella baked over it. Extra marinara on the side. Very good! I don't eat frozen bananas, but they're just as good with Italian as anything else - just eat a Lady Finger with it and pretend it's tiramisu!! LOL
