What Are You Reading? |
|
I'm reading a new Stephen King Book "The Dark Half" it has taken me until almost the middle of the book to get into it and I almost put it away but kept on reading and it finally started to get interesting. How long do you read if a book doesn't immediately grab your attention? I love to read but it has to grab me pretty quickly or I'll put it down...lol Anybody read any other "Grab your attention quickly books?" Have An awesome day all.:)

1. Transdisc (13870) | 4 weeks ago | Hello ladylonewolf2008 I read The Dark Half some years ago. I enjoy King. I'm currently juggling three books, according to my mood. The Judas Strain, by James Rollins. It's a good book to escape in to. Also, The War of the World, by Niall Ferguson, and Servants of Evil, by Bob Curruthers.

3. dogsnme (174) | 4 weeks ago | I've read a bunch of King's books and the thing I don't like about his writing style is he seems to go off on tangents sometimes and describes things in so much detail that it gets a little boring. He's still a great writer and I think The Stand is probably his best work. I also like Dean Koontz. His book, Watchers, grabs you early on. I read it right after reading King's Misery, and the first chapter scared the hell out of me. The story was fantastic and never lost my interest. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

5. aslanlight (531) | 4 weeks ago | Well this might be boring to some people but I'm currently reading a book on naturopathy. The last really entertaining book I read though was 'The First Chronicle of Thomas Covenant' by Stephen Donaldson. There are three books in the series and they're incredible! They have a bit of a 'Lord of the Rings' feel to them, although they're quite unique. The hero's a leper and has many faults, he even does something horrendous near the beginning. Donaldson takes you through his growing pains as he travels through an alternate realm that he wakes up in following an accident. He's the unwitting hero and doesn't even think he's up to the role. Well worth reading! I won't read a book if it doesn't grab my attention in the first few pages.

aslanlight (531) | 4 weeks ago | Should've said, in case anyone's interested, the first book of the chronicles is 'Lord Foul's Bane'. If you like stories of the fight between good and evil and dark characters you'll like these.

6. Aurone (1611) | 4 weeks ago | I am reading Traitors Moon by Lynn Flewelling, which is an awesome fantasy book. It depends on the book, how long I will read it--I don't really like to quit books, so I usually read them all the way through no matter how bad--now if the book is really really bad then I won't bother with more than a chapter or two. One book I cannot get into is The Witching Hour by Anne Rice--I love her other novels and they say Lasher is really good, but to get to Lasher you have to go through The Witching Hour which I haven't been able to yet--And I have tried a couple of times. Maybe I will get it as an audio book and listen to it next time I fly.

7. Bluepatch (1108) | 4 weeks ago | I think I read the Dark Half a long time ago. Its not bad but kind of depressing and very, very interesting, for me, anyway. Right now I'm nearly finished a book by Robert Crais, a thriller writer of the now generation. Not exactly a classic but more like a better class action story, it, well, keeps me interested. For some reason really good books are becoming hard to find in Port of Spain unless you have either some money or a circle of book-reading friends. I love John Le Carre, you should try him, a writer of spy literature, the quality of his work is truly outstanding. Try looking for " The Honourable Schoolboy, " I think that was one of his best.

9. harishv (150) | 4 weeks ago | I'm reading a book named "Be confident and fearless" written by Guy Finley and Dr. Ellen Dickstein, which is very intresting. By reading this book i came to know that the we shouldnt blame others instead we have to realise that what mistake we have done. Instead of lashing out in anger when frustrated we have to remain claim which will improve our real strength.

10. snowy22315 (4365) | 4 weeks ago | I'm reading Shock by Kitty Dukakis. It is a good book, but there is too mcuh in there about the history of electroshock. I'm not that interested in the history of electroshock treatments. I just wanted to find out how it worked for her. I'm getting a book from Amazon that should be arriving soon called "Beautiful Boy."
