If your spouse came home early from work, would you think he got fired? |
|
Tonight, my spouse left for work as usual, for night shift. And about an hour later, there he was again, knocking on the door! And of course, you know what I was thinking! I figured that maybe he got laid off work or fired. A million thoughts racing through my mind. He didn't make the matter any better. He had six bags of groceries (bought at all night Walmart) and he acted so happy! I couldn't figure it out. If he'd been fired, he would be all mopey. Turns out they only need him three days this week. Could be worse! At least he still has a job. What would you think if your spouse came home early from work? Would you think he or she had lost their job?

He was an alcoholic and was constantly getting caught...getting fired. I did live with a man for several years whom if he had come home early, my first thought would have been...are you sick? hurt?. He was an excellent worker and so I would have been shocked had he been fired. Even when his place had a lay-off, he was one of their top guys so he never got laid off either. If he came in all happy with lots of groceries, I'd just have to hear the story.

They like yes men and my honey is definitely not a yes man. So if he came home early that would be the case or the casino caught on fire.

beautyqueen26 (7387) | 3 months ago | I worry about my guy. He doesn't like playing yes man either. It's not good for finances. I try to help him work out the rough spots of his job and deal with the pressure. But it's tough, you know! They wanna be themselves, but they have bills to pay. I guess if he were in his dream job, he'd do everything he could to hang onto it. Right now, feels like this is just an in-between thing until his or my business takes off.

beautyqueen26 (7387) | 3 months ago | The fear of job loss is constantly with us cause it's happened before. Noone's job is safe anymore!

Swede_59 (152) | 3 months ago | And it´s harder for us who are elderly. Too many employer want to have only young staff. Beacuse they are cheaper to engage. And often, they don´t argue.

It is hard not to think the worst when you get sent home early in the current economy. It is great the Company does try and keep staff when it is slow, although it may cut the hours. Try not to jump to conclusions, if the hours are cut back, try and figure out how to adjust for the loss of income, enjoy the extra time you have together and try to be as supportive as possible, I know it crossed my mind a lot if they went around letting people go home early if I would be looking for a job sooner than I wanted. I am sure your spouse has that in the back of his mind too. At least he stocked up on food so the two of you wouldn't go hungry. Mine wouldn't have thought about groceries, stocking up at the beer store maybe, but not groceries. That's why he is my ex.

5. moneyandgc (2908) | 3 months ago | Well, my husband is military so no I would not think he lost his job. I am always really happy when he gets home from work early. He came home from work all week at least a couple of hours early. He gets paid the same, so it is always a bonus.

8. Goodie123 (7203) | 3 months ago | On the times my partner has come hoem early from work, I yell Yahoo you have been fired. No such luck, he had been to the doctors one more time for stitches. I hate the job he does at the moment. He is always getting injured. He is not the only one either. Almost every week, one of the workers need stitches. The company he work's for are horrible to their workers. He was in a much safer job when he was working several hundred feet up in the air.

I never think that she had lost her job. Because i hab confident that she was that much of good in behaviour and sensior in her work.
