Is Sarah Palin experienced enough?

The news media has started only minutes after John McCain announced his running mate to question her experience and qualifications to be President of the USA. I think she is an awsome lady who has a great amount of experience to bring to the table. If you'd like a peek at the Palin's political and personal resume, you can see an accounting of her political experiences at: http://www.palinforgovernor.com/aboutSarah.html BTW, I think it is highly hypocrtical of the news media to begin questioning Palin's experience in light of the democratic nominee's meager resume. What do you say? ...and this site only shows her experiences BEFORE she served two years as governor.

Sarah Palin has doomed the Obamanation's chance to become President of the USA. I just listened to her acceptance speech and have read a little now about her background. She is better than Hillary, Obama, Biden, and maybe even McCain. People need to vote McCain just so Sarah Palin can get experience in the White House so as to run to succeed John McCain. Sarah Palin is the kind of leader we always knew America could produce, but politics was keeping out of high office. VOTE McCain - Palin ! Palin someday for President.

I agree and I'm interested in seeing what more she has to say. I'm also interested in seeing her handle the media - and I think that she will, indeed, handle them!

It is a proud day for America. Someone in politics is getting ahead on their merits. What a concept!

Lol, now both sides have inexperienced candidates. As if experience makes a person better at a job. It's the qualifications you bring with you, not how long you have been at it. A person can have a lengthy political experience in high ranking offices, and still suck as a President. Experience really means nothing. Personality, personal opinions, and the personal agenda is way more important, IMO.

I hope more people agree with you on that because I think Sarah Palin posiively shines on her personal opinions and agenda.

The link didn't work for me for some reason but I have heard that she has done an amazing job as governer of Alaska, the people there adore her. My dad grew up in Alaska so he knows about a lot of the issues that affect people in Alaska and has monitered her actions and said she truly works for the people and doesn't take bribs which is quite rare for politicians. I think she is amazing! How she manages to raise five kids while working and campaigning I have no idea but she has been doing it and I have no doubt she will continue doing it!

Either way you look at it, no matter which team wins in november, this is indeed going to be an historic election, that had to be said first. As to the experience. I think this may have neutralized the experience issue on both sides, neither can throw stones now, it's off the table. What is left is the type of experience, executive experience. She has run a city AND a state. 16 years total political experience. Granted no foriegn policy experience, but then again, neither has Obama any of that either outside a speech in berlin in which he won the votes of 200,000 german concert attendees. I will add I don't think it is wrong of the media to QUESTION her experience, it is their job to ask tough questions and examine things, as long as they do so fairly and to the extent as to inform the public of it and ACCURATELY, instead of turning it in to a political baseball bat swung blindly. This is no doubt, going to be the most watched election by the entire world in history.

Thanks for your response. Hopefully it is a non-issue now, but I have seen the liberal media swinging the baseball bat already. The are saying McCain has been "attacking" Obama on his lack of experience and now chooses someone with no experience in federal government. They are saying so what Palin was mayor over a city with only 7,000 or so people, and a governor over the state that probably has less population than any other in the USA. So they are actually BELITTLING the experience she has in the executive capacities she has served However, Palin has already shown that she can run with the big dogs in Politics. She has shown her mettle in the taking on corruption in the political, she is a skilled debator and I think she will be able to handle anything the media and more experienced politicians throw her way, and do it admirably. Also, McCain has PLENTY of foreign relations experience to bring to the table, and so will she after a few months as vp.

I am not an American, but as a media transcriptionist, I have been following the news regarding U.S. politics. I just would like to give my two cents'. Experience is not as important as having a good judgment, and experience is not always an indicator that one has the ability to make good judgments. The question that should be asked is this: In the short time that this candidate held his or her office, what has she accomplished and what positions has he or she embraced? The answer, I believe, would reflect the candidate's ability to make good judgment. Furthermore, experience is only useful when coupled with good judgment. I believe that laws that govern politics are not immutable. While there are time-tested methods and policies that still work, one must be willing to embrace change especially when those "time-honored" methods do not work anymore. To quote Og Mandino, "An action that proved successful today may be unworkable and impractical tomorrow." It is only with good judgment that one can determine which policies are still worth adhering to and which are fit to be thrown to the garbage bin.

I agree with you - I don't think the Democrats have any room to talk about inexperience! I just hear one of the newsmen say something about this - that Palin has run the state of Alaska for almost two years - Obama has never run ANYTHING! Any of us who are wives and mothers know what it takes to run a household - especially if you are working outside the home as well. She has also been involved in school activities and PTA, was in her town's city council, and then elected Governor of Alaska. Her husband works full time too, so it is apparent that he wasn't just someone hanging on her skirt-tails and taking care of the kids - they were just like most families - both working to make a living and working together to raise their family. I am very impressed with what I've seen of her today - I think she has a great deal of assertiveness and is not afraid to speak her mind. I am very excited about McCain's choice and think she could make a fantastic Vice-President.

And don't forget, she also served two terms as mayor of Wasilla as well. I really admire this lady and would be proud for her to be the vice president(or even president).

I would like to know her moral views. She seems like a nice lady, and she has a lot of political experience. But I checked another site and she does have a high moral standing. She is pro-life and is a good choice for a vice president than the other guy that Obama wants. And she seems to have an exciting life as well. Of course the news media is far to the left, that you cannot trust their judgment anyway.

I'm still on the fence here....~~~~ I listened to Palin's speech while I was at lunch and she does sound feisty and capable as far as running the state of Alaska but I have serious concerns about her ability to lead this nation if something happened to McCain. I was around when John Kennedy was shot and Lyndon Johnson took over as president. I was around when Gerald Ford ended up as president. These are dangerous times and the main job of the Vice President, in my opinion, is to stand ready to lead this country if something happens to the president. Are you guys really comfortable with Palin acting as president if John McCain isn't around? Has she done anything in her career to demonstrate that she would be able to handle an overseas crisis that threatened this country, either in the short term or the long? Would she be able to deal with Iran, Russia or any of the other countries who are hostile to the U.S.? Does she have any experience with national security or diplomacy? These are just some of the questions that come to mind...I'm sure I'll have many more before making my final decision so I'd appreciate it if those of you who are comfortable with this V.P. selection as it relates to security issues would tell me why you feel that way.

I think we will have to wait and see. I mean, the same was said about Barack Obama, and similar to former president Bill Clinton. Exactly, what is the amount of experience needed to be president. I do not remember the same discussion happening when President Bush was running and look what he has done to the country. Lets see what she has to say and how she debates, her politics and her ideas. http://sumpter-masterplan.blogspot.com
