Does wearing spectacles make you smart(er)?

I have worn glasses since age 9 which is quite a few years and also have contacts. I don't wear my contacts much anymore but did for a long time because my lenses are like coke bottle bottoms because of being severely myopic. I am bad enough that lasik surgery would not be able to get me to the point of not needing glasses at all. I really hate wearing glasses but am at an age now where vanity, which is a part of why I got contacts, isn't a big thing for me.

While growing up people always say that it is the smart (genius) kids has to wear glasses then it was my time to received one. I found out that one of my eyes is smaller than the other so I need glasses and seeing that I love to read I was damaging my eyes. So you see it has nothing to do with smartness. I don't know anything about lasik surgery but I don't think I would be even interested in it. I am afraid of contact lenses so I will just continue wearing my glasses what I do however is to thin out the lenses so it is not so thick and enormous. I am glad for this technology it is a bit expenses but you know you can still look great without putting yourself under a doctor knife.

well, when i was a child, i also got the impression. it's because using spectacles users imply that they read too much. now it think that if we smart, we don't need wear glasses. if we smart in maintain our eyes health, we won't need glasses. lasik surgery is not bad if you have money. but i think you can exercise your eyes muscles regularly to keep your eyes healthy.

I feel like if I were to have lasik,I would be the one who had a bad experience. I have worn glasses for fifty years. I would miss having them. I do not know if I am smarter when they are on, but I listen better. I will even tell people, "I cannot hear you, until I have my glasses on."

No clue Lord..All i know is you would be smart if you wore condoms on your head & jumped around town naked LOL
Serious now ok,you deserve at least that much,so yes wearing glasses does make people look more intelligent/smarter,i dont think they are tho,cos everyone is smart in their own individual way..even weebly me..

i thought wearing glasses when i was young means smarter intelligent people..but as i grow old i learned not all people who wears it are smart but they just don't have any choice but to wear it because they can't see without their glasses...inside my family almost all the family wears the glasses..they say it runs through blood as they grow old they need to wear one...now, my eyes are going blind also wothout my glasses but i just wear it when i do something important..i hate wearing it...it makes my eye baggy..i thought of having eye laser but i cannot afford it..so now i thought of just wearing contact lenses someday but i'm afraid it will just make things worst

I got my first spectacle late last year. It was that time when my eyes were completely glued to my monitor because I was hopelessly addicted to mylot. I bought the cheapest frame and when I stared at the mirror, I did not look smarter. "pout" More like Ms. Terror from my High School days.

With the rising trend of spectacles in different designs, I got more and more confused as to which one suited me. I will try this one, I look like a nerd. The other one made me ten years older.

I knew of one friend who went into Lasik surgery. She was wearing spectacles since Elementary and had only one word to tell me: relief. One of the reason she took the surgery was that even with the highest eye prescriptions, her visions is still somewhat blurry.

I also wear glasses and I dont think it makes you any smarter than someone not wearing glasses. I been wanting to get the lasik but it is expensive.

I used the spectacles since 25 years ago. The reason for that back to my hobby when I was in my childhood, reading. I used to read a lot in the evening before the sunset, and had to use the spectacles since that.

I don't think I'm looked smarter with my spectacles, in fact I have no choice. I had try the 'contact lenses', but it doesn't work like spectacles. The laser surgery is too expensive, so all I get just this glasses...

Of course they make you smarter, I wear them don't I xxx
